Alex, did you ever reveal your potential flip? For some reason I thought it was an offensive player, could be wrong. We're heading into the dreaded dead period...give us something!! haha. Seriously though, thanks for all the hard work you guys put in on recruiting to keep junkies like me rolling. 'Preciate it!

I could be wrong but was he referring to Conley? He kind of flipped the other day.
I think he was referring to Mike Heuerman. Who knows what will happen, but at this point its not looking likely.
That was my guess as well.
I would be shocked if Heuerman flipped. He would have to battle with his brother for playing time. Plus OSU already has Baugh coming and are limitted on scholarships.
I had a feeling it was Heuerman as well. But I just don't see OSU taking another TE at this point though.
With Notre Dame's success and seeing how Tyler Eifert was used in their offense, I can see why he would want to keep his commitment with ND, but who knows.
Perhaps it's not someone specific, but rather a faith in the coaching staff to wreck havoc before NSD.
Alex seemed to have a specific individual in mind whenever he first brought it up...in recent weeks on the recruiting roundtables and what not he just refers to it as believe there will be a late signing day surprise. We haven't heard much on it out of Alex since he first mentioned it specifically.
some ideas..
- Taquan Mizzell (APB, Virginia)
- Mike Heuerman (TE, Notre Dame)
- Ethan Pocic (OL, LSU)
- Josh McNeil (TE, Alabama)
- Travon Chapman (QB, Pittsburgh)
- Aaron Bailey (QB, Illinois)
- Levonte "Kermit" Whitfield (ATH, FSU)
- Tony Stevens (WR, FSU)
- John Montelus (OL, Notre Dame)
- Ahmad Fullwood (WR, Florida)
- Sebastian LaRue (WR, USC)
- Demorea Stringfellow (WR, Washington)
- Marcell Lazard (OL, WVU)
I'd add Hunter Bivin (OL, Notre Dame) to that list and revome Mike Heuerman and Travon Chapman. There's just no way we take another QB or TE.
Urban likes recruiting QBs as ATH, so I'm not sure I would completely rule them out.
Mizzell would be fantastic. Kid is an absolutely stud.
My guess is Pocic or Stringfellow.
Stringfellow said today or yesterday that he's solid to Washington and ending his recruiting officially. No more visits
I just saw the report today.
Have not revealed it yet...I want to wait until Signing Day for trust reasons, but I promise you will know who I was talking about...I was feeling like the flip would happen even as close as about a month ago...with how things are shaking out at OSU and after talking to said player and seeing a recent development, I am not as confident...but it could happen and even if it doesn't I will tell the whole story as to why I thought it would/could have
For some reason, I'm guessing Jaylon Smith.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
I'm pretty sure from what little Alex has said, it's an offensive player.
Don't tell anyone, but I've got no clue what's been going on & wanted to throw out the name of the player I'd want to flip most...I have zero clue about any flips, but I'd still like Jaylon to be a Buckeye.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
I vote Jaylon Smith as well... only because that would be the best flip ever...
Well in that case, it's not a bad choice :)
Judging from that note, I'm voting D. Thomas.
With the "recent development" Alex is talking about, I have to believe the Munger or Conley commitment played a role in Alex not being as confident as before. So it may mean we are looking at a WR or OL. Could be wrong. Just speculating.
Im gonna take a stab and say it was Dawkins...
Too bad it isn't Max Redfield.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
This is the greatest mystery since "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" My best guess, Alex has been talking about Maggie Simpson.
247 has a nugget that things are heating up between OSU and Oregon RB Dontre Wilson. Kid his super fast and explosive.
He'd be a slot WR/return guy. I'd love to see him in scarlet and gray.
Dontre Wilson has a nice piece in SI this month (faces in the crowd). Has 80 career touchdowns. Would be a great catch!
Rivals just posted something about a big time offensive player back on our radar. I don't subscribe, but maybe this is the same thing being confirmed elsewhere?
It's Dontre Wilson they're talking about on Rivals
I am going to guess he is/was talking about McCray....
This makes the most sense, to me, despite most thinking it's an offensive player. Michigan has recently offered a few LBs which comes as a big surprise to most. Both McCray and Gedeon refute any claims that they're looking elsewhere, but you never really know until they've signed.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
If I'm not mistaken, I believe Alex said it was an offensive player.
I think it was Dawson.
Might be and the recent development may be that he doesn't have a test score yet.
I thought Dawson, because Vrabel and Meyer are supposedly (?!) visiting Dawson in Detroit today:
http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ohio-coaches-visiting-dawson-today
But I don't know of any information, other than raw Buckeye hope, that Dawson would flip to OSU. I'm not predicting or denying; just saying that I haven't heard about anything other than a visit.
Some of the comments on that thread made me lol
Class of 2010.
Imagine offensive skill players on the field at the same time of:
Brax
Jalin
Quick
Zeke
Gibson
Dontre Wilson (#1 on my flip request list)
Good f'n lord
I'd settle for the first 5 and another OL. Somebody has to block.
I chuckled a little on this one. One upvote for you Mr./Mrs Northbrook. Best quote of the evening.
.^^^festen your seat belts and hang onto your beer boys..
You have to leave room for hyde to be on the field. This would be real case of Hyde doing the Smashing and the rest doing the dashing. lol
or hang on to this?
~Because we couldn't go for three~
I'll tell you, I'm SUPER excited for next year to start....BUT I am realllyyy looking forward to the 2014-2015 season (Braxton a senior and some of these incoming freshman being sophmores) should be interesting!
I absolutely agree. I think 2014 was the most likely year for a national title, but it's hard to say for sure. They'll need to plug new guys into the line, Hyde will be gone, Philly will be gone. Though I think, the replacements at RB and WR will be just fine, the line is always a concern.
This post haunted me last night when I should have been 1) studying; or 2) at least paying attention to the girl I was hanging out with instead of studying.
I am going to guess it is Alex Anzalone.
1) we def KNOW this recruit.
2) may not happen because of recent events (NC for ND and tOSU to get Mitchell and Johnson).
Chances that I am wrong= 97% but hey no one will remember if I am wrong. If I am right I will look like a genius despite bombing finals.
don't fruit the beer dude!
Anzalone crossed my mind and a thousand irate posts (or maybe it was a thousand threads) tore through my mind like Brady Hoke through a free continental breakfast buffet. No, I think Alex A. is done with the surprises for this recruiting season, though I admire your stones for throwing this name up there like a clay pigeon.
I'm sorry Alex Anzalone is going through your mind when a girl is in the room. Mike Mitchell maybe, but....
Haha way to make it weird.
For the record, I DO NOT TWEET NOR HAVE I EVER TAKEN PHOTOS WITH RECRUITS.
As for the gal, I think she was blabbing about something stupid like "why can't you love me" or something like that.
that was my guess- let the carnage begin!
Hate to burst the bubble, but Anazlone is ENROLLED at Florida and already on campus. He early enrolled. Signed, sealed, delivered.
Looks like he listened to Daddy. :)

It's Reuben Foster. You heard it here first.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
first sign of this happening: he gets a UGA tattoo... after that, hes 110% Buckeye.
He's at the tattoo parlor as we speak. Wait a minute, tattoos? Oh shit...
Yes, they make you run faster and throw further. Violation.
Robert nkemdiche will be a buckeye. Can you imagine him bosa diesal and spence. Alas one can only dream.

Nkemdiche is a diva, I don't want him on this team. I'd rather get Hand next year.
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
I don't know. At this point give me Dashawn Hand over Nkemdiche. Couple years of separation between him and Diesel.
I think getting Nkemdiche would be aweomse but have we even visited with him recently?
For some reason I was thinking brennemen (sp?) from penn state, even though he has said he is solid to psu
OSU doesn't need another TE. I would assume they would go with another position. Plus he has been a strong PSU commit for a long time.
ALEX'S MYSTERY FLIP IS AN OFFENSIVE PLAYER!!!!
PLEASE QUIT GUESSING DEFENSIVE GUYS!!!!
This.
And for those saying Nkemdiche:
I don't want him or Rueben Foster anywhere near this program. I don't care how talented they are. NCAA violations waiting to happen. Same thing with Jordan Diamond last year.
I know that it has been speculated that it is an offensive player but what leads to that conclusion? What has Alex said that I am unaware of that makes you think that?
Back when Alex first brought up his mystery flip he said it was on the offensive side of the ball
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
North Carolina commit, T.J. Logan?
Could you imagine that $@&? Storm that would brew up in AA if the mystery flip was Shane Morris? I would take JT Barrett over him any day but man that would be funny
Even funnier: Morris flips and Urban says no.

I think Alex was being literal. The "Mystery Flip" is actually Lil Flip, a.k.a. Da #1 Fly Boy, a.k.a. The Clover G, a.k.a. Tha H-town Stunna. Many people find him offensive.
I'm pretty sure I'm right on this one.

If I recall correctly,
His crib big like a football field, you might f**k around and think he signed a football deal
Game Over
I also like the theory it is an OT with the recent development making it unlikely being the offer to Lacy.
My thought was that it would be Dawson. But he may be in a different place now and has talked to Hoke again supposedly.
/\ this
I heard it was this guy:
That kid's highlight reel is UH-MAZE-ING! He's a must for this class!
He's a cross between Chris Johnson and Drexl Spivey. If the Buckeyes are trying to lure him to Cowtown, they must a' thought it was white boy day.
+1 for the True Romance reference
Thanks, Pam. It's probably a 2.5 star movie, yet it had numerous memorable scenes and characters in it. Brad Pitt's role was hilarious. I knew a couple of guys just like Floyd.
One of my favs. Brad Pitt was perfect. Maybe he really was stoned.
I think he really was. Sure did play that role well;-)

Not that I really care, but why would this get down voted??
Trying to make sense of a downvote is often fruitless endeavor.
Pam ....you have a down vote stalker like I do. Matter of fact...I have A LOT ;-) I really don't care...personally wish 11W would do away with them to be honest.
edit* see ;-) Keep em coming you immature lil ones...if you "think" that gives you power...then more power to you.

Love True Romance...watched it for the first time my freshman year of college. I have most of Quentin's movies at home. My wife loves that movie as much as I do...she was hooked the first time she watched. And you'll never believe this, but she had never seen one of Quentin's movies until her and I met...unbelievable right?

He's almost as good as The Player Formerly Known as Mousecop.

Or Hingle McCringleberry
I rarely get into recruiting speculations, but the Alex Mystery Flip parlor game is way too interesting not to play along. So, I'll take a completely ridiculous and reckless stab in the dark . . .
Khaliel Rodgers, OL (Elkton, MD). Maybe when Urbz was visiting prospective 2014 recruits in NJ a few days ago, he swung down to Elkton (1.5 hr drive) to chat with Rodgers on the down low?
Please downvote me now. I deserve it.
It's definetly Vernon Hargreaves III
That would help if Bell doesn't pull the trigger for sure...but doubt it happens.

Kevin Bacon! Every mystery can be solved through Kevin Bacon:
Urban's last name is Meyer
Meyer is also in Oscar Meyer
Oscar is the name of the award for movies
Apollo 13 won Oscars
Kevin Bacon was in Apollo13 with Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks was in Castaway
the volleyball in the movie was Wilson
The answer is Dontre Wilson!

So obvious! How did we miss it? Thanks Squirrel, mystery solved.
Genius.

Ha, Shane Morris.....that would be EPIC
And then have Kalis pull a Boren the next day!
I don't know, I'm kind of looking forward to see Mr. Kalis try and live down his "there'll be blood on the field, and it won't be mine" comment for the next three years.
0-1 so far. Mike Hart started the same way.
Kalis will have 4 more shots since he redshirted this year. He could go 0-5.
Could actually go 0-9 if Michigan makes the B1G championship game each year only to lose to us again :)
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I'm guessing Kermit Whitfield
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
It's someone that trusts Alex and has been in contact with him. If you're considering someone completely off the radar, you're probably wrong. If you're guessing a defensive player, you're probably wrong.
The most likely candidates are those from Ohio and/or those with connections to the university. My guess would be Heuerman. I'm not sure what developments there would be that affect him flipping, but I'm guessing numbers are an issue and/or he's just become more enamored with Notre Dame as a result of their success this season.
If you want a clue, I would say it is DEFINITELY someone with whom Alex has done a "Catching Up With" in the past prior to their commitment to whatever school they are currently verballed to. That should narrow it down pretty easily.
Definetly Su'a Cravens then...
Hmmm . . . you're actually helping to support my stupid, crazy Khaliel Rodgers theory.
Alex did a "Catching Up" with Khaliel in April 2012. Apparently, he and teammate Kenny Bigelow called Urban, who offered both on the spot. At the time, Alex commented, "just hope there is room . . ." Khaliel is a OC/OG (possibly DT) and Ohio State was probably focusing on OTs, with limited numbers of schollies.
Khaliel was supposed to visit Ohio State in June - I don't know if that happened? Anyway, maybe the OSU staff was slow playing him as they awaited decisions by true tackles like Pocic, etc.
Well, Khaliel is probably pretty tight with Bigelow and both ended up verballing to USC.
Halfway through the 2012 cfb season, Khaliel realizes that USC's ship is springing leaks. Here's a really crazy thought: Khaliel and Bigelow are a package deal and both started to waiver a bit on USC, especially with Monte Kiffin resigning. Talks resume between Khaliel and Ohio State, but then the "recent development" happens . . . Munger - a flex DT/OG - verbals. Ohio State continues to be short on schollie numbers overall, and probably still not satisfied with their OT numbers (because tackles are more easily converted to guards than vice versa), yet heavily stocked at DT.
Please, please hammer me with downvotes now.
I hear that Derrick Green is set to announce as soon as Hyde elects to go pro. He will be a Buckeye.

I gotta be honest with you. I get tired following all your posts around giving you an automatic upvote to counteract the guy that follows you around to give you an automatic downvote everytime you post.

+1 for noticing. It was 100% sarcastic.

I hope it is an OT.. That would be amazing.. I remember last year how cool it was when Dodson flipped...
Id be so happy if it was trubisky mr ohio yea that would be lovely

Carlos Hyde just tweeted that himself, Reid Fragel, Zach Boren, Joel Hale and Jeff Huerman are on a boat in Florida. Mike Huerman is also on the boat. Gotta think with as much time as he spends with his brother and his brothers friends^, there is a possibility for a flip. Personally, I don't want another TE but Urban knows best!
Very disturbing images of Minnesota Vikings and Cedric Benson swimming through my mind.
I believe this was indeed the mystery flip. However, Alex said a week or so ago after Conley and Munger committed that he wasn't as sure it was still going ot happen and one of the things he alluded to was the recent commitments possibly playing a factor.
the recent commits played 0 factor...well maybe 1% out of 100....but it was moreso info I got from the recruit that has me convinced it won't happen. I will let you all know on or the day after NSD
Oh ok then haha.
Thanks for the info and fo all your hard work!
Was T-Pain on this boat by any chance?
Since Carlos isn't working out I'd say he's not going pro.
*Bump
I am excited just to find out who this is. I don't even care if he actually flips to OSU or not I just want to know who it might have been. Also this shows how good Alex (and the rest of the staff) is at their job. A lot of other 'reporters' would have tried to leak this story in order to get their name out there but Alex has kept it respectful to the player and their program.
Jaylon Smith??
If only.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Alex has said multiple times it was an offensive player and he will reveal after NSD....Was close to happening at one point but obviously not anymore.
I want to guess it was maybe Dorian Johnson or Ethan Pocic? There have been sooo many names on the ohio state radar that I have no clue how Alex and the staff can keep it all straight. Goes to show how amazing the staff here at 11W really is.
Corey Smith

Santonio Holmes. He hasn't found a place he is happy in the pros. He was going to grow out some dreads and pretend like he was HS kid.
I have a feeling it was heuerman bc he seems to spend a lot of time with his brother and OSU players. Probably thought about it but decided to stick to his word and stay with ND.
I believe Heuerman is already enrolled.
#Buckeyes
What time Alex is going to reveal his mystery flip on Feb 7:)
Just to be fair, he should put the name in a sealed enevlope and pass it to Gene the day before NSD. Gene could make it a real signing day event by setting up a time that Alex's decision is going to be revealed on NSD. It would set a new record for 11w; NSD and The Decision combined.
Not that I don't trust Alex but if I were in Alex's place I might not be above just dropping a hint that there "might" be a big surprise on NSD and then take credit for any big surprise that happens.
It was heuerman
Yes - it was.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
I was thinking it was him or Dawson. Seemed like Dawson talk picked up some steam around the time he mentioned a flip could happen, then around the time he reaffirmed his commitment to TTUN it seemed like the mystery flip was no longer going to happen.
All of TSUN's recruits flip to other schools and TSUN doesn't have a recruiting class as a result.
Class of 2010.
ShowThem nailed it!
i'll tell you all the story in our NSD live chat
It must be so much fun to watch everyone speculate about something you know already, haha.

Arghh, Alex, I can't get the livechat at work. Am I to assume the story will be in a write-up by you as well?
Please...
Dorian Johnson
Would we have room for a flip at this point?
Its not going to happen. I Alex alluded to that a long time ago. He was feeling a flip was possible/likely, but it fell through.
