Just when I was actually feeling good about him again...not exactly a reliable source so the media will over blow this for about 2 weeks then we won't hear about it again. Typical Clarett!
Maybe you should read the article again...
I may have misunderstood when I initially read this story (and I don't feel like reading it again) but isn't this just a story about how the Omaha coach had his players all stand up and share their backgrounds? This is what Maurice shared with his team and now it's being recited to all of us via these stories. This isn't a case of Clarett going out to the public (as he has done in the past) to try to tear down Ohio State. I personally just wish he'd go away.
More like Yahoo Sports is @ it again. They got big time traffic from the last year with OSU's issues, just trying to start something to gain it back again.
Allow me to refer you to BUCKSHOTS. This Clarett stuff was talked about in detail there.
This is yesterday's news anyway. In the Buckshots yesterday there was a link. It was a small snippet of what MoC said about his life in his introduction to the UFL team. Nothing to see here really. Not like the NCAA can do anything about it now. They didn't do anything then when they actually investigated it.
Even if most of these newest accusations are false...Tress had to be in "see no evil mode". That whole insurance scam and his car situation was ridiculous.

He did but this was from years ago. The guy is doing good things with his life. Let him live!
Hes not trying to bring down OSU he's just talking about his past experiences. It doesnt say anything about OSU. Hell anybody can break the rules at OSU but that doesnt make the school bad. He talks about the things he did and rules he broke.
This is true. It has also been said of Clarett that while he was @ OSU, he openly sought out people who would give him things (money, drugs, cars, etc.) He knew who to go to when he wanted and/or needed things.
Yeah we covered this the other day...it is from a book, not like he's going around saying it right now...plus we are passed those times for now----it was an OSU culture problem, stop blaming Clarrett
Exactly.
It wasn't just one player for sure and not just at OSU either btw. Just personally wish players would just keep their mouths shut (or not write or video their own personal biographies to re-open wounds-e.g. Ray Smalls and now Mo.C too) and move on from those times that have passed.
However, that culture you described started when Tress (who I love BTW) began as OSU's HC. I hate to say this but similar problems plagued him at YSU unfortunately (with a QB too boot). I believe most if not all of us couldn't argue with what was being produced on the field and turned a blinds eye to what was "really" going on off it. I mean who can argue with 9-1 vs tTUN and being in contention for a BCS bowl game every year (or national title games as well). But, I wouldn't change any of that to have UFM at this very moment and as many including my mother still tell me, "Everything happens for a reason." GO BUCKS!

This is actually a nice story, and everything he talks about is in the past and has already been investigated. He has been very open about his love for OSU and Tressell and has been trying to make amends. Just take it for what it is...a story about redemption.
I dont get all the Tressell love because he operated without ethics day 1 with Clarrett. It was nothing different than when he was at his previous school. Im sure there is soooo much more that went on.
Im foremost a Buckeye fan so I still rooted for the OSU but I was never a Tressell fan. Clarrett only did what he could get away with. He was a kid that was on the take from Day 1 and I would guess received more than Cam Newton did and probably tenfold.
Never a Tressell fan?? I find that hard to believe seeing as he was looked at as a saint until two years ago. We all have 20/20 hindsight...you don't have to agree with how he handled Tatgate but to act like you knew something others didnt the whole time is kind of hard to believe.
Cincy, I liked Tressel, but I was never one who believed he was squeaky clean like the image that was put out there about him. There were always murmurs, and speculation out there about him. People will believe what they want to just like I am right now, but I think perhaps it was pretty well known what was going on at Ohio State and the culture that existed for a lot of players not just MoC, but no one did the work to connect the dots. It wasn't unique to Ohio State. I really liked the man, but I never bought that he was saintly. I felt the Senator was a very good name for him, and not just because of how he interviewed.
It's ok to not be a big fan of Tress...I've always loved the program and team but Tressel-ball was boring much of the time, he have very boring interviews and didn't have a great personality...fortunately he was a winner and was the right coach at the right time and accomplished a hell of a lot.

Maurice obviously doesn't believe his 15 minutes is up yet
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
The comments are only coming up again because they are featured in a book about Clarett's coach in the UFL. It has nothing to do with Clarett and 15 minutes of fame.
BigBadbuck - read the article again
Stop blaming Clarett for everything. He was sharing his life story with a group of people he was asked to share it with. It is a critical piece of how he got to where he is now, to show how low his life got. There is no attempts to smear OSU.
^^^
Sorry if it was old...I didn't think I was breaking any exclusive news or anything, just passing along an article I read that I hadn't seen a thread for.
I'm not necessarily blaming Clarett for anything. I get he was just talking about his life, but some thing are better left unsaid. Outside of this, I'm glad the guy seems to be on the right track. I'm not a fan of his but can certainly appreciate what he did on the football field.
"Love my State, hate the football"
"...not necessarily blaming Clarett for anything".....umm, your original post said something about how you're sick of people trying to smear OSU. I think you are blaming Clarett for something. That's OK if that's tour opinion, just stick to your guns, don't change your mind suddenly. Just MHO.
Clarett wasn't blaming anyone. He was just telling what happened in the past. People who ended their bright futures a little too early tend to live in the past, not as a way to get attention, but as a form of redemption. I like to hear his story every time because it is interesting how humble he seems now.
I don't even care...

Read the deadspin excerpt. It was part of a talk he gave about how he turned his life around. Good for him. He's not trying to tear the university down.
I don't feel as though i have to read the article again........When Clarett arrived in Columbus , he was a big shot who said he was going to be the best running back the world had ever seen. When he didn't get the ball the amount of times he thought he should he pouted. Then he went out and got him self arrested. Sounds to me like negative attention is better than no attention in Maurices world. Now he seems to have turned his world around , which is great for him, but he's always come off as an attention diva to me....Thats all I'm saying

I think it is hilarious when people say they didn't like Tress. Seriously, you didn't like the most successful coach many of us have seen at osu? You didn't like the guy that beat Michigan on a consistent basis? You didn't like the guy that won a N.C. and lead the Bucks to multiple BCS bowls? Really?Really?
The part of this that some Buckeye fans dislike is that it opens the door again for all the haters to stir the pot again. Hearing those that choose to use the term "cheater" and they will, see this as an opportunity to do so again and they are. It's the individuals choices that lead to these undesirable labels given the entire fanbase. It's these individuals that found ways to exploit weaknesses and take advantage of their popularity in a way to blacken our collective eyes. Maurice did great things while here but more terrible things afterward. Happy for anyone that is able to see their transgressions and improve themselves but their negative past will always be an issue in some way right or wrong. Seems to be the fact that this, whether innocent in manner or not, leaves the door slightly ajar again for the cockroaches. Have read it on every other teams blog I've been to since its release and it is indeed hard to see again.
If that's all u got from that article u may need to adjust your perspective.
