FYI: Just read a post about Maurice Clarett saying "I got paid more to play at Ohio State than I do playing in the (whatever league he is in now or last played in). Sorry, I read it early this morning, I don't have the link - it's something like Brown Bag. I got the story/link off the MSN page.
He has a book coming out, so I'm not surprised he's starting his same old bull shit. But dammit- can't he just shut the hell up and go away? How many people really give a rats ass about what he thinks, does, etc? I heard he turned things around and is "a good kid" blah, blah, blah, since he got out of jail.
For someone that had the world as his oyster, he fucked it UP. I guess he's still trying to bring the program down, as he said so many years ago. But someone needs to kick his ass and tell him to shut it- I would be willing to contribute to the cause.*
* violence is not the answer but I wouldn't mind seeing AJ Hawk standing over Clarett (with a black eye and bloody lip) point down and hear "say ONE more thing you dumb SOB about Ohio State and make my day."
Just had to rant a bit-

This has already been touched upon in the forum as well as Buckshots. And to be clear, this NOT a book about MC, it's about the coach of the Omaha Nighthawks...one chapter touches on Clarett and his statements are nothing that he hasnt said before. He made mistakes in his PAST, and he has been quite vocal with his love for OSU the last few years...he is in no way "still trying to bring the program down".
That's good to know (about NOT bringing down the program). But it begs the question. WHY say that? It certainly isn't helpful. It isn't something that, if I think someone actually LIKES me or my program, I would expect someone to say. So, maybe I should ask what would possess someone who likes Ohio State to write that statement? It's still very negative....

When and where he said it was an intimate setting with his NightHawks football team. I doubt that he ever considered the guy who was coaching the team would write a book and put his comments in it. This was a setting where guys were telling some very personal stuff. Talking about promising careers that were lost to injury. Parents who died from Aids. And one kind of goofy, out of place comment about Eric Crouch selling stuff to fix vaginas or something weird like that.
Moe C gave his life story to his team, like other players who went before him did. He wasn't intending to bring down Ohio State. He's not writing the book this quote came from. I actually like that the story was told, it's pretty inspirational in my opinion and can serve as a lesson for other young men who have lost their way. He wasn't being malicious at all.
It's entirely plausable that he was indicating that he had a stipend as a part of his scholarship--not to mention all the perks that I'm sure any OSU athlete receives under the table. It's beyond the NCAA's disciplinary window, anyways--not to mention the fact that they already tried to investigate it and got nowhere.
Besides, I'm sure that he was paid next-to-nothing as a benchwarmer in the UFL. Seems like he's gotten his life back on track, and I salute the guy. Remember, SI and the NCAA tried to talk to him when the whole "Tatgate" thing went down, he told them to hit the road.
From what I understand, he's saying he had three cars, one a Cadillac, etc- stuff that has already been hashed out...just a bunch of stuff he's already said and it really doesn't need to be revisited....non Ohio State fans are going to eat it up, of course.

Like this? LOL
EXACTLY LIKE THIS!!! THIS IS HILARIOUS! You rock buddy- this made my week and it's only Monday. If I could give you 100 up votes I'd do it. Have a great day.

I hate this nonsensical drivel from Ohio State fans. It makes us look so ridiculous. You are lying under a rock of ignorance and denial if you think Maurice Clarett didn't make major bank in college. Clarett is NOT trying to undermine the university. This is a part of his (amazing) story. Clarett knows that at this point this truth will not harm the university. You have to understand, Clarett isn't saying Tressel and the football program gave him a paycheck. I'm glad Clarett is sharing his story, everyone should hear it. In the end, you have to choose what you desire more. Do you desire the truth? Or an impeccable, untouchable repuation of a name for The Ohio State University, even if its under a book of lies? Let's not forget the tragedy at Penn State, an example of protecting the name of a university at all (terrible) costs.
"The truth shall set you free."
By the way, Clarett isn't even the one coming out and saying all of this. This is from a book being written by his UFL coach. Clarett shared his story with the coach in a private team setting.

Couldn't have said it better. Some people need to open their eyes.
I hate nonsensical drivel from Ohio State fans as well. And I hate people that don't have a sense of humor or put things in the proper perspective- you probably thought I was serious about hiring AJ Hawk to beat up MC. But I don't really care what it looks like to you, if you take a simple rant and say it embarrasses OSU fans. Lighten up. I read a post that quoted Clarett- it implied it was from him, not someone else. And again, it's a simple rant.
Pardon me if I don't trust someone who said they would do everything they could to bring down OSU. He did say that. I don't wish him ill will and I'm glad he seems to be doing better after jail. Good for him - slow clap- But if what I wrote made OSU fans look bad- wow, well, sorry about that.
Again, it was a simple rant but I don't like anyone who keeps bring a microscope back on a program that has paid it's dues and is going in the right direction. Did Clarett speak the truth? A lot of what he said was a lie- so it goes both ways. I have high expectations for Ohio State and that doesn't include what you say or think about Clarett. It's much bigger than him- but he keeps getting in the way of us moving on - WE can move on but the nation and anti-Buckeye media pounce on whatever he says and then we're hashing over the same BS.
It's amazing this went from me just wanting MC to shut the hell up to a comparison about Penn State. No where near the magnitude of injustice and manipulation. What I keep seeing/hearing from some OSU fans is that 1. Nobody should be surprised that what happened w/MC happened. 2. All major programs do this. This indicates that what happened wasn't in some way wrong, because everyone else is doing it, only OSU is the one that got caught. Wrong is wrong and that's the truth. To keep having to read about Clarett? Yeah, I want him to have a happy life, shut the hell up about Ohio State and go away.

FYI: If people start a new thread about Maurice every day he'll never "go away".
Dammit, I was going to write something and then I saw one of those hot chicks in the T-shirt ads....oh yeah,
"Touche" Tennbuckeye19, touche! But if MC would shut the hell up, nobody would have to post that he should shut the hell up. How's that?

Ugh. This has been discussed to no end. Can we stop with the Mo C stuff? He was telling a life story. Nothing can be done about it by the NCAA or anyone else now. Let's just let it be. Non-OSU fans already think we're cheaters, so this doesn't change that.
He will never go away if we keep talking about him. What TennBuckeye19 said.Class of 2010.
