So I was browsing Reddit today, and this video was on the front page:
Naturally, I thought, "wow he would be really good in the Urban Meyer offense", so I looked up where he was from. It turns out he was a two star APB out of Massillon in 2008, with his only D1 offers being Akron/OU. He ended up going to Ashland University to play football and run track. His measurables include a legitimate 4.28 forty/4.15 shuttle/32 inch vertical...Football wise, he reminds me of Darren Sproles.

All I can say is that I haven't seen someone that quick/with that stride since Ginn.

Awesome post, man! Just another great example of what a difference athleticism makes. Just out of curiosity, do you know what international competition this was?
good to see him kicking butt, that is a good highlight film
Nice find! I have some friends in Brittain and sent them the link to this video and they were seriously worried what would happen if the USA ever put any $$ and effort into developing players for rugby like we do for Football!
Wow... that is a fast dude. He fits Rugby well though, little more open field style play.
I just thought it was cool to see an Ohio kid with serious talent on an international stage.
He looks like he's playing against the JV team. He's so much faster than everyone else. Awesome video, upvote your post!
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
He took 2nd in the 100m state championship his senior year running 10.78. (winner was 10.77) Also Devier Posey was 4th.

For only playing a couple months this guy is a complete natural when it comes to rugby, more specifcally rugby sevens. A couple former college/NFL players have tried out sevens and they all didn't really pan out. It seems like having to play offense and defense and the lack of breaks is the major difference in the conditioning of Football and Rugby players. In my opinion, his most impressive play series starts at 1:19 against the New Zealand All Blacks. He ends up getting out of position defensively and having to chase down the ball carrier, then he gets the ball a little bit after the tackle and has the speed and stamina to score.
I believe the reason he has been so succesful in his short career is the fact that he was a 2-way football player (RB-DB) and that he has a succesful track background. Pure track people tend to be too rigid when it comes to rugby and do not have good lateral movement. Carlin has the smooth stride of a great kick/punt returner.
legitimate 4.28 forty?
legitimate 4.28 forty and no major D1 offers?
doesnt belittle what the kid has accomplished but most high school 40 times have up to a .2 curve while College another .15
BET THE RAIDERS DRAFT HIM
I'm a friend of thunder is it any wonder lightning strikes me
His 4.28 was from the Scout combine, which I don't think would curve it.
I apologize if his times were at the NFL scout combine they are legit

Im just not seeing him listed
but I did find a site that had his 40 time at 4.13

I meant the Scout.com recruiting combine, sorry for the confusion.
Rugby is the most confusing sport to me. I just don't get it I guess.

nonstop football until they score...it's like constant downs. A lot of fun to watch even if you don't get it. You'll catch on quick...ish

I played rugby in highschool and its almost something you have to play to understand. There are definitely some crazy rules in that sport.
"Love my State, hate the football"
It's an absolute blast once you figure out the rules. My senior year of HS my school formed a Rugby team, and it was fantastic; the team was basically formed from a bunch of guys from our football and soccer teams. The football players had a much harder time picking it up because 1) They weren't conditioned for shit 2) They kept stopping after getting tackled and weren't ready for a scrum, mainly because they were used to downs and the like and 3) We had a bunch of idiots on our football team that had a hard time figuring out how to play football, let alone rugby.
I think the biggest problem with football converts, and a problem that I had when playing, is that you're going 100% at all times. Really you don't go full speed during the whole course of a match, and it's important not to expend all your energy tackling. Field position in this game can change at the drop of a hat so battling for an inch and wasting all your energy is rarely worth it... Unless on the try line.
Just how short was your team bus? :)
D. Anthony
The football team's bus? Very short..
the ultimate option play
watch the Rugby sevens and it will make more sense I believe tOSU has been nationally ranked the last two years

Timmons? Anyone?
That was crazy. He just outruns everyone to the corner and then beats the angles. Nice stiff arm. It's great to see a Buckeye excelling on a world stage.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Bring home the gold in 2016!
Wow! He gets to top speed so fast. I don't think Ginn or De-Nard's initial burst can match that.

I think alot of his college career Had to do with grades.
Capn, Make It So...
Daughter said (was on the Ashland team when he was there) Nobody could touch him on the track... which included D1 Sprinters.

They talk about SEC speed being fast, that's what I call Ohio Speed.

Ran against him in college. I thought I recognized his name. Dude can move. Nice to see he might have found his niche tho.
How firm thy friendship..
