A rumor circulated on twitter about Jimmy Byrne committing to Notre Dame.
I believe it to be true after exchanging a few texts with Byrne but he is not willing to deny or confirm at the moment.
Byrne is a 2014 OL out of Cleveland (OH) St. Ignautius. He is being recruited as an offensive tackle and already has an offer from the Buckeyes.

Domer in my opinion whether the commitment comes now or in a month
I understand this kid is catholic and goes to a catholic school, but I thought this said many times that he grew up wanting to be a Buckeye. How he dreamed of playing for OSU but picks ND. I'm glad for the kid and not knocking on him just curious as to why he said this.
#Buckeyes
Kinda figured we might lose this one from the start.Seems to have Notre Dame on the brain. Not knocking him, just for some reason, never thought he really game Urban a chance and wasn't all that impressed with his visits.Good luck to him if he thinks he's gonna win more at Notre Dame, than Urban will at OSU!!Not gonna get them all, next!!
SCOTTC.
damn this hurts but a catholic kid from a catholic hs choosing nd not that surprising. Offer Trout NOW!!!!

If it wasn't meant to be, it wasn't meant to be. I just want another commit for us soon! I'm dying over here!!!
Wish he'd at least wait to see ND get curb-stomped by Bama in the National Title game before committing lol. I kind of knew we lost him to the Fighting Catholics when I saw the SAINT Ignatius behind his name on 247 haha.
Think he's second best OL in Ohio behind Trout. IMO projects as a guard, wouldve been nice to have him
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Always sucks to lose an in-state kid but the good news is we are looking real good for many other OL that it shouldn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things.
Thanks for the news, even though it is bad news. I appreciate you guys constantly keeping us in the loop.
~Because we couldn't go for three~
ND just blew him away on the visit and his relationship with their OL coach is great
As long as he is happy, good for him. I don't see Urban being one to have issues filling spot in 2014. (You know, that 2nd year team without a bowl ban is going to start blowing tops off some recruit's attention.)
I've never understood the want to play for a school because of religious affiliation, not saying that is the case with Byrne, I've just always found that puzzling. Then again my people aren't always known for their athletic feats, I mean the two shortest books in the world are Jewish Sportstars and Italian War Heroes. Best of luck to the kid wherever he goes.
Even though I hate it when fans of other teams (cough cough TTUN) say that they cooled on a guy after he commits somewhere else but I've heard the staff wasn't as high on Byrne as many would believe and if they could go back and do it again they probably wouldn't have offered him yet.
He's a good player but there are bigger fish on our 2014 OL board.
Agree with you Hayze! I've watched Byrne play a couple times this past season and I wasn't totally blown away by his performances. He's big, but not as physical as I'd like an OT to be. My personal opinion, he is not "Elite". Wish him the best wherever he ends up. 2014 is loaded with OL prospects.
The way Warriner has coached up the guys he had this year, just need to get him the bodies capable of doing the job. What a terrific hire for Urban and great asset to our staff.
Future for the Oline looks real bright regardless of who we bring in.
Assuming Warriner sticks around for the next couple of years. As much as it sucks to lose coaches to other teams, it's good for the program.
Update: Byrne to ND per his Twitter. Oh well
