Interesting perspective on O'brien and psu

Read this article and thought it was interesting.  O'brien did one hell of a job this year and is pulling in a pretty good recruiting class all things considered.

If he goes, who'd take his place?

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

Since I still act like a little kid, that picture made me laugh/snort. No one expects me to actually do work today, but you sir are not helping me act like I am.

I may regret this later, but I hope he stays.  Relating to today's (12/31) skull session, I don't want a terrible B1G.  The fact that this guy is winning with the players left and still bringing in decent recruits says a lot.  Bottom line is that I am getting tired of having to respond with "meh, you are right" whenever someone points out how terrible the B1G is.

If O'Brien stays and he keeps this decent recruiting class I think PSU stays relevant for the next few seasons and maybe they can survive these penalties with a semi decent team. This is a good thing for B1G and OSU and I like that someone other than me doesn't want PSU to vanish for the next 3-5 seasons. We need PSU to be competitive and help the struggling B1G.

Penn State won the games it did this season because of senior leadership, particualrly from Mauti... they have some players, but without those key seniors, I believe they would have had a losing season, perhaps something around 4 wins...After starting 0-2 with losses to OU and Virginia, it would have been real easy for them to fall into an attitude of 'Oh, well, we are on probation anyways', but Mauti and the seniors pulled them out. Credit is due to O'Brien but I think the majority, if not close to all should be given to those seniors... 2013 will be a much different year for them IMO. Hackenberg will presumably start and I think they have some major struggles without those seniors from last year. The new, suspended PSU begins this season and although they could very well have a good year, I think 3-4 wins is more likely and itll be a 180 degree turn on how people view the maintenance of PSU football.

before Bill O'Brien was hired, PSU fans were convinced Nick Saban, Mike Munchak and Chris Peterson were lining up for the job.  Maybe those three canidates were just waiting to be the guy who replaces the guy who replaced Joe Pa, instead of the guy who tried to take the stage after Joe Pa.

Saban bailing on Bama to ressurrect Penn State seems highly unlikely. Chris Peterson, maybe.

Interesting...I don't see him leaving this soon, but who could blame him if he did? If he wants to be in the NFL - now is a good time to go. It's only going to get worse at PSU from here.

Or, he could stick around, get PSU through the mess they are in & if he is as successful for the next few years as he was this year, he'll be a god in State College who can do no wrong, which...wait, that's not such a good thing is it?

wonder if the Iggles will come knocking for him? Seems like he has that attitude that best fits Philly. IF he goes, which I dont think he will, I wonder if they will try and get a proper PSU guy, like Tom Bradley, or go after a bigger name.
