I find this is to be not a good sign for Wisconsin. I'd be surprised if Tucker was in their top 3; he was probably like their 5th choice. I'm assuming the Chris Peterson talk was just that --- talk.
Mel Tucker, as some of you may remember, was a position assistant and then later Asst. DC for the Buckeyes under Jim Tressel. He bounced around to a couple other schools and then became an assistant in the NFL. He was actually the interim head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars when Jack Del Rio got fired late in the 2009 season. Tucker is currently the DC and Asst. Head Coach for the Jaguars.
Perhaps he is just waiting around for an NFL head coaching position to open up, because he's decided he wants to coach in the NFL instead of the NCAA.
But, this is a little surprising. I figured someone like him with no head coaching experience would jump at the chance to coach a major college team, especially when it's his alma mater.
Tucker says he was not formally offered the job, but it looks like Wisconsin reached out to him but he shut them down.
I still think Bob Diaco would be a great hire for Wisconsin. We'll see what happens.

Hey now maybe there's something the public doesn't know yet about wisconsin. Just thinking out loud here, but Bert B. left Wiscy - to the surprise of many. And now they can't seem to find a viable replacement. Maybe there's something going on...like another FREE SHOES SALE! (for Wisconsin athletes) scandal LOL, but worse obviously. Remember back in like 2000 when about a 1/3 of the team got busted for free shoes? I think 25 or 26 guys getting free crap from a local store. All they received were 1 game suspensions. If I ecall correctly, i think FSU got busted for something similar back in the day. I think it was the earkt 90s, where they were getting free stuff, too. FSU = AKA = 'Free Shoe University'.
