Johnson's top two teams were Florida and Ohio State. With Florida having an impressive linebacker class, it kind of lays down the tracks for Johnson to come to Ohio State
bc they are now full with 4 lb commits and Rolin as an OLB Hearns will not feel the need to decommit. Also Trey said hes down to UF and tOSU so its not hard to do the math in the end.
Because FL already has multiple LB commits...so there may not be room. Which in turn leave OSU sitting pretty....that may be "why?"

Saw Mike @ Rivals mentioning that he thought it would help Buckeyes as well. I don't really see that being that Trey Johnson is an ILB, Matt Rolin is an OLB--so unless they're planning to move one of them, I wouldn't think it has a big impact. In the same way that us having already having Shazier doesn't effect Trey Johnson (being that Shazier is an OLB, so Trey Johnson wouldn't have to compete with him for a spot).
I don't know much about Matt Rolin, though. If he's being sought after as an ILB (or Florida is looking at Johnson as an OLB), then take my opinion completely off the board haha.
Yeah, McMillian and Hearns. In my opinion the Rolin commitment (hypothetically) would have much less of an impact on Johnson than Hearns' situation at Florida (as the 2nd ILB in Florida's 2013 class). If Johnson did somehow choose Florida, look for Hearns to flip to OSU during his January visit for the reason you mentioned--just my (uninformed) take.
That leaves FLA with 4-4Star LB's (247). So one would assume that does not leave an open spot for Trey Johnson. Or, given our depth, makes Buckeyes look that much more attractive for early playing time.
Trust this from a guy that played against him: Matt Rolin is overrated. Even alums from his high school agree with me, and it's them bringing it up, not mex
This is very good for us! Trey can't be anything but salivating at the chance awaiting him here in OSU. Starter no later than Freshman or Sophmore year.
RT @MsAmyCampbell: #Gators linebacker Quinton Powell officially decommits from #UF."
^If true, any advantage gained by Matt Rolin's commitment to FLA is now negated by Quinton Powell's decommitment haha. I was never of the belief Rolin's commitment would be a huge factor in Johnson's decision anyway. Rolin and Powell are OLBs, whereas Johnson (imo) would be more concerned about the fact that McMillian and Hearns (ILBs like Johnson) are still commited to FLA.
Yeah it happened, just read an article on it about an hr ago on ESPN. So maybe that doesn't exactly mean he's a lock. Oh and just because these players are projected by recruiting services as being an OLB or ILB, doesn't mean that's where they'll end up so I don't think it would matter if Schools already have 3 OLB commits or what not.
Very fair point. It's impossible to say where FLA is telling Johnson he'd play for them (could be either ILB or OLB really).
Was reading on a Gainesville writter's twitter that Powell had just been talking about how great a time he was having on campus/@ UF yesterday, and the next day he decommits? Very strange turn of events any way you cut it.

They got Rolin to de-commit for South Carolina. I'm assuming they went after another LB because they didn't feel secure they would land Trey Johnson.

Thanks, I should have looked at their recruiting profile before I asked
Johnson and Mitchell will be in THE SCARLET & GREY!!! Go Urban Go!!!

^^^^ Good, I hope every overrated player in the nation goes to a different school than OSU.

Trey Johnson is an absolute monster & would be a HUGE addition to this recruiting class. Keep working Coach Fickell, the hard work will pay off!

WHY??
Since when the Ohio State University became a left-over university?
I hope our coaches are not as desperate as you.
