With Hank, Goebel, Simon, and Williams all gone, who do you all project as the starters and main contributors? Any inside scoop on who we can expect to make some noise on the D-line? Appreciate the comments. Thanks.

Spence, Shutt, Washington, and Miller with consistent subs in of Bosa, Hill, Hale, Benett, Sprinkle, and the list could go on.
Bennet, Washington, Spence, and Schutt/Miller/Hale
Bennett will be a starter
i think spence and washington will make noise next yr
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Bennet and Spence on the ends, Washington and Schutt/Hale inside.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
Top four currently on roster = Bennett, Schutt, Washington, Spence. With Miller, JT Moore, Pittman, and Hale rotating in. Hopefully, C. Carter will continue to develop into a space eater. Marcus looks very promising as a viper/LB.
As for next year's crop of frosh (verbal commits): it's hard to predict which guys will make an immediate impact, but the odds seem very much in Vrabel's favor. A couple of these guys from 2012 and 2013 are going to explode - it could be Pittman, Bosa, T. Lewis, J Marcus, Hill . . . the cubbard will be stocked (I counted about 15-16 guys who have great potential on paper).
Freshman will get playing time. It is clear that they like to rotate Dline to keep them fresh. Even with the star studded line we had this year the frosh got playing time, I expect the same.
Heck, what's the front 7 going to look like? Only Shazier is back.
I'll take my stab at it: (Subs and guys in the rotation)
DE: Bennett, Spence (Pittman, Miller, Marcus)
DT: Washington, Hale (maybe Schutt, Carter, Bosa, Hill, Price)
OLB: Shazier and Perry (Crowell, Williams, Perkins)
MLB: Grant (Johnson, if commits, Roberts, Perkins)
Grant is the guy who needs to step up. If he can't get it together by the start of the season, then it is probably tiime for him and OSU to move on. I think this is a make or break off-season for him. Although I am willing to say I think he'll figure it out....
With that being said, if we get Trey Johnson, he may start in the middle too.
I'm pretty sure that Urban said that Grant has moved to OLB. Grant just couldn't grasp the defensive schemes well enough to be the "Quarterback of the Defense." The guy was constantly out of position.
If I had to guess, I'd say the starting LB corp next year will be:
OLB - Shazier, and Grant
MLB - Williams
We can only hope that he(Grant) finally puts it all together. If so, DAT DEFENSE!
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
I think this upcoming year we will see a lot more rotation on the D line because the talent level will be more on the same level vs having Hankins Simon and Williams who are flat out better than everyone else and would actually hurt you by rotating them out

as long as our incoming class is developed correctly (pssh...ridiculous thought to think otherwise) we will be more than ready for the upcoming year. Even when you consider what has left, we have a serious amount of talent coming in..and Urban is not even done yet.
"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
Washington, Bennett and Spence for sure. Hale, Carter, and Schutt will battle for the spot, probably NT.
We'll see some combo of Hill, Bosa, Pittman, Moore, Miller, Price, and Sprinkle.
There will be a ton of subs and rotation but Spence and Washington are locks for the most snaps played. If Carter can develop and get better, he has a chance at being a disruptive force. OSU figures to be 10 or so deep on the DL.
Don't count out Sprinkle. There is nothing like being rated a 3 star to add a little extra motivation.
~Because we couldn't go for three~
Hard to imagine Munger committing basically right after Hankins told Urban he was leaving doesn't add up to Munger playing DT. I'd put him on the depth chart right out of the gate. Good feet. Athletic. Good first step. NOT a project.
Spence is a no brainer. I Like Washington better at DE so would see how moving Bennett inside works. Bennett was injured for sure but still haven't seen anything from him yet that screams SEC type pass rushing end like Urbans wants.
Something like Washington, Bennet, Schutt and Spence. A lot like this year though could care less who starts. We'll have depth and 4-5 guys will rise up over the season as the guys who are on the field late in games when it counts. Just like this year I'd expect 3-4 Freshman/RSF will get big minutes.
I really really really like this kid of south caro.
mike hill
he will be a STUD - he will be the next Hankins. Im telling you - All-American material. bucks don't skip a beat!
Which of the DL freshman are going to be on campus in January?
Urban has always said that the key to his NC teams at UF was his defensive lines. Look at the talent waiting to be harvested on the D-Line! (pick a name) A testament to UFM and staff. He is everything I ever wanted in a college football coach. The guy is just flat out the perfect coach for OSU.
Wayne Woodrow Hayes
WDE - Spence, Miller, Lewis, Sprinkle
DT - Schutt, Hale, Carter, Hill,
DT - Bennett, Bosa/Price/Munger
SSDE - Washington, Moore, Pittman, Bosa
OLB - Shazier, Perkins
MLB - Grant, Williams, Crowell, Roberts
OLB - Perry, Marcus, (Trey Johnson? Mitchell?)
Not sure who will be the starting line up but overall, OSU's defensive line will be sick this coming year. Last year the defense was running way too much base 4 or 3 man rush until later on in the year. Expect that to change with the types of up field rushers OSU will have at their disposal. I'm pumped to see how well they get to the quarterback next year.

"I love football. I think it is most wonderful game in world and I despise to lose."

I expect Spence and Washington to be really good. It would be nice if Bennett stays healthy. Bosa should contribute. Need a few of the young DT's (Schutt, Hill, Price, Munger) to step up.
Not really worried about D-line. Loads of talented youngsters.
DE: Washington (saw him here against TTUN, with nice results), Spence
DT: Bennett, One of Hale/Schutt, fulfills that NT type body we've always had out there, like Goebel, Bellamy, Pitcock, etc.
4-6 seconds of relentless effort
Leo - Spence
3 Tech - Bennett/Schutt
Nose - Hale
5 Tech - Washington
Sam - Perry
Mike - ?
Will - Shazier
D-line he asked for.
Spence
Washington
Schutt
Bennett

Sorry for typing outside the guidelines bro.
It's ok, just make sure it doesn't happen again :).

I really love how Urban is recruiting all these big strong athletic defensive linemen. There is arguably 5 defensive tackles recruited in this class. Sure, some will probably move to DE or offensive line but these big bodies can always be used places. And to compliment these huge DTs, we have smaller but quick DE/OLB types like Spence, Pittman, Jamal Marcus, Tyquan Lewis, and David Perkins who can all speed rush the QB. You can really see how Urban is creating a stout Dline for the future. Now all we need are some high caliber interior linebackers and we will have an incredible front seven, and defense as a whole, for years to come.
