Kerry is a Cincy man. He was the head coach at Colerain HS, and if you're from here you remember how successful he was there. After that he moved onto being an assistant at UC. I remember him saying that he recruited 90% of their players. That includes the Sugar Bowl team (or was it orange? who cares they lost by like a million points anyway. That loss was to Urban's Florida team ironically enough). Anyways he has ties to the school, he is a great coach, a great recruiter, and he's a Cincy man. I'm not saying he's gonna go there for sure, or even that he is choice number one, but you know he is an option. I already hear his name being mentioned amongst the fans out here and the media. He is a real fan favorite out here which might make him a more attractive hire to UC.If he is offered though I have to think he will go. Butch Jones was making 1.5 mil when he left. Not saying it's a sure thing, but it's a real possibility.
I'm also hearing Herman being mentioned, but he seems like a long shot.
I think that he would be somewhat of a sentimental pick. He has very little college experience and I am not sure how transferrable the high school head coaching experience is. There is no doubt that his ties to Cincy are stronger than just about anyone's but I do think he is a bit short on his collegiate resume.

Cinci also needs to poney up the cash for a quality staff and to update their facilities. They've struck gold 3 times in a row so I'm sure they'll find someone that'll do them good.

I love the energy Coach Coombs brings to the program, but frankly I've been a little dissappointed by the DBs this year. Any coincidence why Withers is also coaching the secondary? That said, he's one hell of a recruiter and helps us make inroads with the Cincinatti area high schools.
If he goes to UC, I wish him the best of luck. I still think Matt Campbell would be a better hire, but who knows.
