A few Wisconsin newspapers have reported he may have an interview with Alvarez as early as Monday. Have to wonder why he would choose the Wisconsin job when there have been so many other more high-profile jobs open up the past few years that he could have taken. Has he interviewed for any jobs in the past? Hopefully things fall apart or he's only angling for a raise from Boise St. because I'd rather not see him in the Leaders division.

Why would you not want to see him in the leaders division? I think he would be great, in upgrading the big10.
Oh no doubt about it he'd be great for making the B1G better, but that also means we would be playing his (much improved) team every year.
And making us look good when we beat them! I'm all about raising the level of our competition.

We complain about the B1G having a bad reputation.... Only way to fix it is to get great coaches at the Universities. If Wisconsin somehow lands Petersen, he's a big name and would be a great move on paper but don't know how he'll do recruiting the Midwest.
We'll see what happens, but here's this:
Bret going to arkansas, was a surprise right? Well maybe peterson will surprise some folks
I would be VERY surprised if he left for a job like Wisconsin after turning down some much better offers over the last several years.
Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!
Matt Hayes of The Sporting News is reporting this rumor to be false:

“Right now, Michigan is not at the pinnacle of college football, and that’s all Urban Meyer cares about...He’s been there and knows what it takes to get there.”
And we all know Matt Hayes is a purveyor of truth.
Someone disagrees?
I didnt know Matt Hayes was on 11w.

Peterson has a son who has battled cancer his entire life. He is the main reason the coach has not taken any of the various other positions over the past couple years. He just doesn't want to uproot his family. And leave behind those who have been caring for him over the years.
I believe his son is around 13 now. He fell at the age of one and that's when they discovered a tumor, I believe. And it spread. I haven't read anything lately, but last I saw he was doing fine and can be seen on the sidelines of Bronco's games & practice.
Peterson exemplifies life/work balance. His son's struggle with cancer makes his accomplishments as a head football coach all the more admirable - if not, downright astonishing.
I just don't buy this. Maybe he takes an interview out of respect if they ask, but I can't see him making this move.
He is where he is. Eiter it's where he always wants to be or it's where he feels he needs to stay for some other family or personal reason.
Given the jobs he's turned down, I think he'd only be tempted by an offer from one of the true all time blue bloods of the game, and that is a very very short list- USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, LSU, Alabama, Florida, Florida State. One can make an argument for Tennessee and Nebraska- blue bloods who've recently sunk some.
Money talks though, and IF Wisky is willing to pony-up some dough,I could see him take it.He would make the Big Ten better.Could also see Alvarez take another hoo-rah around the track as well if Peterson shoots it down.Team captains asked him to coach them for Rose Bowl,so he might get that itch to get back into coaching again. We'll see...
SCOTTC.
This would be great! Especially if he turned down an SEC opening to do it! ...tired of hearing about how bad Bert's move to the SEC is for the B1G. I think this would be an upgrade for Wisky
Alvarez won't return to the sidelines except for the Rose Bowl. As the AD he was looking for program stability and was about to step away from that role, no way he goes for the job. I'd give Petersen a shot than Alvarez at this point
I think Peterson could go to Wisconsin. I don't know why exactly, I just have a feeling that'd be a good fit for him. It'd be great for Wisconsin.
Considering how fast the Big East is disintegrating I wouldn't be surprised if Peterson ended up joining the B1G anyway after they invite Boise State. It will either be that or the Big XII.

they lack in facilities and other sports to move to a bigger conf such as big 10or 12. pac 12 would of took em years ago if they had a competitive balance in other sports

Funny, I have spoken with quite a few Boise St supporters about Peterson this season. The mood there is that Chris will never leave Boise. He has stated his intensions on many occasions that he has no desire to uproot and drag his family across country. Don't know how many of you have ever been to Boise, but it really is one of the nicest places to live in the country. And, Chris will always call his own shots there - no former HC looking over his shoulder and no pressure to do things anyone else's way!!! My own personal belief is that Brent's move was more of an escape from Alvarez than anything else - he could see the handwriting on the wall and knew Berry would make a move in the near future if he could not improve on the last few years. Better to grab the gold when the iron is hot.
I agree with what you have said about Boise. The only thing Madison has going for it is that it is a similar town to Boise. As far as Bret leaving Wisconsin, I think he left because he realized he reached a ceiling there and would not be able to go any further. He can't pay his assistants what other big time programs can so he would see a revolving door there and that kills a program. Also, while he recruited very good for the Wisconsin program, he could not get the top flight recruits to come there. I think that is the reason why he feels he has more of a chance at Arkansas. I don't think Barry was becoming impatient with 3 straight Rose Bowl trips. I think any AD in the country would be ecstatic with that.
If they install red turf in Madison, you know a deal has been made.
I just can't see Petersen leaving Boise at this time. He's been mentioned for much better positions in the past and hasn't left. What amazes me the most living here in Wisconsin is the extremely delusional side of the fanbase that thinks they have reached the same level as Michigan and Nebraska. Just because they've achieved success in a down period in the B1G, they feel that they are national championship caliber and a destination job in CFB. They need a couple of sound beatings from the Urbz to calm them down a little.
I would assume that Wisconsin wants to continue to play "Wisconsin" football (smashmouth, run-oriented ball). I dont see Chris Peterson as a good fit and, as others have said, he has a number of reasons for staying at Boise.
I don't see this happening. If he leaves Boise St, he would be smarter to wait two or three years until USC fires Kiffen or Chip Kelly leaves Oregon, step in a situation that would set him up for instant success. He knows those recruits and HS coaches, and the PAC 12 plays more to his pace. I don't think Wisconsin is a good fit at all.

Has Chris Peterson turned down Tennessee yet? Hahaha - #TurnedDownTennessee
