I've been thinking some about Strong, now that there is a lot of smoke for him going to Tennessee
Obviously the immediate impact is that OSU will now most likely land James Quick (even though I have a suspicion that we would have gotten him even with Strong at UL)
The only other recruit this year that will be impacted by Strong going to Tennessee is Vonn Bell. This looks to be a Bama-OSU battle right now but Strong is a great recruiter and could persuade Bell to stay close to home. I think Bell has already made up his decision who really knows? He's played it pretty close to the vest throughout the whole recruiting cycle.
Now for the future. I don't think most people have mentioned the fact that Strong could really impact OSU recruiting in 2014. We look good for quite a few studs from Tennessee in 2014. Players like Jalen Hurd, Josh Malone, and Todd Kelly. Also, there are players nationally that liked Tennesse, have interest in OSU and who Strong could suade to go there (Jalen Tabor, Khairi Clarke, Myles Autry, and Nick Chubb).
Anyways, sorry for the ramble. Just something I was thinking about today.
Ive been reading that Strong is staying put and will be the highest paid coach.
If he becomes the highest paid coach in college football, the entire Louisville administration should be fired.
Strong is going to get a nice raise and he deserves it! but again, what makes you think Quick's decision is so based on Strong being at Louisville or not. It has to do with whether he wants to stay home or not! Strong is just a plus. Bridgewater would help too.
Didn't something similar happen when Greg Schiano turned down Michigan with Rutgers paying him and to a lesser extent Ferentz at Iowa. Louisville also has an increase in revenue coming from the ACC move so probably can consider 3m per year type money.
Louisville has a bigger budget than anyone in the ACC. They have plenty of money to pay Strong. Plus they will be the only school to go to both a BCS game and the final four. They are having a huge year financially.
I live in TN and have a bunch of friends who are UT fans. They're using 1 word for this whole situation. Embarrassing...

1.) Yes, I think Strong to Tennessee could/could've impacted OSU's recruiting.
2.) Strong is a good coach, but he is NOT worth the amount of money that both UofL and UT are throwing at him.
3.) If I'm a Tennessee fan, I would be totally embarrassed right now. But I'm not, so I find it all completely comical.
