It really doesn't seem like it would be that big of a deal to hire him by that author's discription.
I really don't foresee Tressel coaching at Tennessee. I do belive he will eventually take another high-profile job. Tennessee just doesn't sound right to me. Which probably means it will become true, idk.
I keep running through a scenario in my head where David Shaw eventually leaves for the NFL after next season and Tress winds up in Palo Alto, which I actually believe would be a good fit. I've read several posts on the Cal message boards that clammor for them to make a run at The Vest. However, to me, Cal just fired their coach a year too early to get Tress. I do not see him coaching for at least another season. But thats just my honest opinion not anywhere near conclusive.
“Right now, Michigan is not at the pinnacle of college football, and that’s all Urban Meyer cares about...He’s been there and knows what it takes to get there.”
The Vest is an "elite" college football coach, in every sense of the word. He transformed tOSU football program, dominated the B1G, and competed against the best programs at the end of every season in the BCS. He's teams played on the National Championship stage three times. Jim Tressel would be a great hire for any program, and I can't wait to see him back on the sideline.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
I hope Tress doesn't coach an FBS school again. Murphy's Law, applied, tells us that his team would play Ohio State in a bowl game or NC game eventually.
Could you imagine a Tressel coached Vols team playing Ohio State for all the marbles?
I'm not sure my soul could take that kind of conflict.
You know, I had this same thought last night. I would honestly be heartbroken no matter what happened. I loved Coach Tressel. It's been a lot easier than I expected it would be, but only because we happened to get the ONE guy who is better for Ohio State than JPT.
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
Wished I could give you multiple upvotes for this..
I have exactly the same sentiment..Loved Jim Tressel. I grew up watching Huntington/Charleston WV area TV stations and would see his YSU teams playing Marshall for the 1AA Championship seemingly every single year.
My Dad about shit his pants when he found out that Archie's University was going to hire such a successful coach. I absolutely loved Coach Tressel. But Urban F. Meyer is just about the only one who could have filled those shoes.
Plus living in Chillicothe, I get to see his wife Shelley once in a great while...Definite upgrade. ;)

Hopefully it would be against one of his kryptonites - Urban Meyer.
Class of 2010
Tennessee fans seem to think Dooley was a better coach than JT. That tells you all you need to know.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

I don't really see Tressel coaching in the SEC. While he is a great coach, I believe he would not be nearly as successful as he was at OSU.
Jim Tressel vs. Rich Rod = Urban Meyer vs. Brady Hoke
he will be a D1 coach in the next year or two!!!
It will be hard to see him on the other sideline regardless of where he goes but I have to wish the best for the guy. He made a few mistakes near the end but Ohio State owes the guy a debt of gratitude for all that he did for us. Just my humble opinion.
