This 30 for 30 is incredible... I wish so bad I was able to see him play. I cannot really think of a god like player of that magnitude from my lifetime. (Watched sports since 2000)
The '9ers were also pretty unstoppable in Tecmo Bowl.
I vaguely remember watching the Bengals-Raiders game where Bo injured his hip. He was in the middle of his peak years as a baseball player when the football injury happened. Absolutely amazing that his first at bat after over a year of rehabbing he goes oppage for a home run. He was the definition of a freak athlete.
On a side note: His various Nike cross-training kicks are still dope to this day.
God damn that's a pretty f*cking good milkshake! I don't know if it's worth five dollars, but it's pretty f*cking good.
-Vincent Vega
I still remember watching that injury and I was 7. I wish so hard that he could have come all the way back. So sad. My family is from Kansas, so I was a big Royals fan too.
I remember him running over Boswell. Boswell was self promoting with that Billy Idol appearance except with size. He was a little on the dirty side so the game was really hyped because of Boswells mouth talking trash. When Bo ran him over it was like Boswell deflated before everyones eyes.
With all due respect to the Bucks, greatest sports memory I have is when my dad took me to see the silverdome for a monday night game when the Raiders came to town. I was in middle school so it was 89 or 90 and both Bo and Barry both rushed for over a 100 yards each. I would pay anything to relive that again.
I was not a fan until I saw him play pro baseball with the Royals - some unbelieveable catches in center field and power to spare. The when he went to the Raiders as a hobby
Maybe the best athlete ever? Look for a video of his wall run
Saw him get 2 base hits on routine ground balls to short stop in a game at Tiger stadium...it's the only game I ever saw in Detroit. My dad drove us their specifically to see Bo when he was with the Royals. The infielders all started to play in like they would for a bunt when he came up the next time and Tiger fans were yelling that the infield grass should be cut shorter but it was all Bo. Watching him just get down the line full speed was amazing.
There was also a specific segment in the show stating how he didn't lift much and that the gym in his home was just for "looks", they continued to say his "version" of working out was to shoot his bow or to run up the side of a mountain. But they did portray that he didn't work out much. Regardless, he was an amazing athlete.
during the show, his coaches and himself acted like he didnt lift.... when you look at the guys body this has to be false right? has anyone ever met someone insanely cut up that doesnt lift at all?
That was true about LeBron for a long time. I remember reading an SI piece about him where he didn't lift until he was about 3-4 years into the NBA, he said he never really had needed anymore muscle mass, at least until he decided to develop his inside game more.
I actually saw Deion Sanders play a game when he was on a stint with the Columbus Clippers while he was part of the Yankees organization. The guy had talked some trash and made some disparaging remarks about Columbus and every time he came up to the plate the crowd booed him mercilessly. On what I believe was his last at-bat in the game, Sanders drove the ball to the center field wall and ran the bases like a wild man beating the throw to the plate for an inside the ballpark home run. The crowd went from booing him to cheering for him, but that changed, as he walked back to the dugout and began bowing before the crowd, causing the cheers to turn back to boos. It was classic.
Thought about that, too. Can't deny PrimeTime's skills, but can't go out of my way to sing his praises, either. There's already a choir for that and it's all him. How he didn't end up at Miami is a karmic improbability.
how any human being can be clocked at 4.12 absolutely blows my mind. that 30 for 30 was so epic.. hearing that he was shooting a bow and arrow with his feet after he had his hip replaces is just unfathomable.
unfrortunately i can't find a video of him throwing out harold reynolds with no crow hop or bounce from the warning track to home plate... the video they showed on that wasn't very good
I'll never forget my first and only game (Redsox fan) at yankee stadium as a ten year old back in 1990. The Royals were in town and Bo was the man! He ended up striking out 3 outta 4 times at the plate. 2 broken bats over his knee and the last one over his head! It was an amazing sight to see and I still marvel at it to this day. What an amazing athlete, the likes of which will probably never be seen again
Bo Jackson was amazing, but in my opinion Ashton Eaton (world record holder/Olympic gold medalist/world champion) decathlete is the greatest all around athlete of all time. His combination of speed, leaping ability, strength and endurance are unmatched in my opinion.
Two different things entiely but I would have to disagree with you. Bo could have trained and would have won some of the events probably in a record time for decatheletes and competitive in all of them with maybe enough ppoints at the end to win.
Put Ashton on a NFL team let him run as RB and I would guess he wouldnt last a set of downs and have negative yardage. Then put him on a baseball field and he probably wouldnt even shine against a high school team. Personnally I think Bolt would be a better argument
Last night, I guess the 30/30 was on again. A guy on facebook said he was over rated and not that great at either sport. I was like WTF are you serious? He could of ended up being one of the greatest RB's of all time, and if had just focused on baseball lord only knows how good the guy would of been. I had never heard that opinion before and it floored me to be quite honest.
That's insane.
This 30 for 30 is incredible... I wish so bad I was able to see him play. I cannot really think of a god like player of that magnitude from my lifetime. (Watched sports since 2000)
He was who I pretended to be when I played in the backyard. He also allowed you to never lose in Tecmo Bowl.

Thanks I should have remembered that. Heres +1 for you.
Bo + Tecmo Bowl = Game Over!

I wish I could upvote this, because it's possibly the most ridiculous/awesome/ridiculously awesome thing I have ever seen.
one word
CLASSIC +plenty (just dont know how)
I'm a friend of thunder is it any wonder lightning strikes me
Hate to ruin it for everyone but I totally saw a block in the back...
Bo and Barry Sanders hands down are best 2 RBs I've ever seen.
With all due respect to the Bucks, greatest sports memory I have is when my dad took me to see the silverdome for a monday night game when the Raiders came to town. Too many defenders were going for the big hit.. Kinda looked like our tackling for the first part of the season.

If I was Player 2, Player 1 would have had a permanent NES controller imprint on his forehead!
"Because I couldn't go for 3"
Nah, I would have set the controller down and went to replenish snacks.

Bo knows how to run out the clock. I wonder if he would get an unsportsmanlike penalty for that?

I saw the guy catch a flyball from the warning track and then turn around and throw the ball in to the catcher to throw a guy out! Freaking badness!
I saw him throw a football over a mountain.
Fan of bacon since 1981
I saw him flat out beat a Porsche 911 GTR 0-60mph.
And the guy was running full steam from1st base. Bo was sick. Mostly humble guy who realized his gifts and used them to entertain honorably.
Kind of bitter sweet to see him stiff my team but they deserved it, still can't believe how dumb the bucs were back in the day.
Him and Lebron are the biggest freaks I've ever seen. God just put the whole package in that man.

I watched him as a kid, and I was in awe, but this book made me really love him.
Only we guitar players can say: 'Bo, You don't know Didley!' Bo was unbelievable!
I really enjoyed that 30 for 30 on Bo. Great stuff!

Interesting factoid - supposedly, Bo never lifted weights. He would do push ups, a 1000 per daily workout. Also other body execises.
That was Hershal Walker.

Google it. It was both Herschel and Bo.
That is Internet white noise. Hershel was the one to supposedly not lift weights (he said this...not body builder forums).
Dude, he lifted weights in the 30 for 30, lol.
NW: I was just making a spelling correction, why are you responding to my comment?

Michael Jordan. And I remember hearing Lebron doesnt lift either.
What? Jordan was known for lifting alot especially late in his career. Was very big into it actually. ALL ATHLETES LIFT! Especially Leron!

Sad Deion Sanders getting no credit for being pretty damn good at two sports as well right about now. haha.

Was not as good at baseball as bo though.

Saw Deion play while he was with the Clippers, as well. Watching him during pregame warmups was amazing. Easily the fastest guy in the Stadium.

Watching that 30 for 30 and i swore someone was cutting onions in the room. Right in the childhood...

That was probably the 2nd best 30 for 30 I've ever seen. IMHO the best one was the one about the 2004 ALCS. Very tastefully done.

Overrated
HAHAHAHA
Ok. What were you....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Bo Jackson, over rated huh?
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
For a statement that absurd you have to have some info to try and persaude us (not going to happen)?

If Bolt could catch that would be... scary.
I can't imagine a guy that big blowing by the best corner in the league. He would by high stepping from the 30.
