Not like people needed more ammo to hate Ohio State and finds ways to try and bash them over certain actions and ideals...but then we are blessed with this dandy. The article itself is not a bash piece. Surprisngly, it is a supporting article, but you never know if that was done out of shock factor itself. Take a look at the story and discuss. I'm on the side of this reaching just a taaaaaad too far by the institution.

If you are going to hold the school accountable for any little thing that happens, then it is completely justified. You now made it the schools responcability, not the players, to ensure no rules are broken. It's nice that they are even taking the opportunity to teach the kids on how to manage the money they do get successfully. Another benefit I wish ever kid would learn.
In the state of TN every high school student has to take personal finance. In this class they have to learn how to balance a checkbook, choose insurance, make a personal budget, invest money, etc. I also believe this should be a class required by every university. I was blessed with parents who taught me how to budget/save money, but not every kid is.
Wow, that is pretty awesome actually! I know we had a very basic "business" class that was one semester long and we covered a bunch of non-practical stuff no one else in the class needed to know but a few of us. It is well understood that students coming out of high school and college do not know how to manage theri finances and I think that is creating havoc on our economy.
I like what OSU is doing and I don't think most of the players will have a problem with it.
I am 100% in agreement with Steensn. If the NCAA wants to hold the schools responsible for the actions of the players, larger compliance departments and larger involvement is going to be needed. College athletes for the most part are immature, and if schools are going to be punished for one or two kids immaturity then it's time for these schools to start holding a few hands and teaching these kids how money really works

Rules and guidelines and drastic steps like this are one thing. It's when others schools aren't held to the same standards that boil my blood. I'd be very much interested in seeing the bank accounts of players from SEC schools, Alabama being example No. 1. You cannot tell me those programs are 100% pristine virgin innocent clean. Saban is the master of shady coaches. Ok, Ohio State is singled out because of what happened under Tressel. You're going to invade someone's privacy either do it across the board or not all. Don't single out anyone just because you dislike them.

I have no issue with this at all, as far as I am concerened we should watch our players like hawks.
I personally think it's great! If they can't regulate their own bank account and money in general (which past has shown us to be correct...like it or not)...then why not have tOSU do it. However it will only ensure they don't deposit large sums of cash into their accounts. It won't stop all illegal activity as far as extra money...they don't have to deposit it...if they don't want to. It may deter them which will help...
