michigan's 4 losses came against opponents with a 46-4 record....OSU, 'Bama, ND and Nebraska.
They have seen 3 of cfb's best teams, so S. Carolina shouldn't intimidate them or posses speed they haven't faced before.
I have seen USC play a couple of times this year, and I wasn't overly impressed.

I don't think you're crazy, man. Anything can happen in the bowl season when the teams have had weeks off and you can't really judge 18-22 year old's motivations on either side. Still, the think the speed edge on defense by the Cocks puts them over the top...but as Corso says --- closer than the experts think.

If the Michigan staff learns from its mistakes in The Game, Michigan can certainly make this a game. If Robinson can't make a pass, don't line him up behind center. Instead, run him out side and let him make plays with his legs. Michigan's defense held the OSU offense to just six points in the second half despite giving up three turnovers, so they can stop or slow the Gamecocks.

USCe has been a hard team to get a handle on this year. They followed that 35-7 beatdown of UGA with consecutive losses at LSU and at UF. No real shame in that except that as bad as they beat UGA, UF gave it back to them 44-11. They followed that up with a three point win over a Tennessee team that won only one game (UK) in the SEC this year. Although they finished the year with four straight wins, they never came close to producing another game as impressive as the UGA win, making that game seem more and more of an outlier. I think USC probably wins, but they're not such a dominant team that I'd give michigan no chance.
I think over the course of a 60 min game the OL and DL of USC will take over the game. I don't think it'll get out of hand early like the Bama game but eventually Clowney and Co will be able to get pressure with ony rushing 4 and force mistakes. I also trust Spurrier over Hoke in big game preperation.

I really don't think South Carolina is over rated they blasted an VERY good Georgia team and then handed it to a 1 loss Clemson team pretty bad too. This game won't be close. South Carolina by at least 2 TD's, but it may not even be that close.

The only B1G/SEC matchup I see a chance in is Northwestern/Mississippi State. USC is going to win this easy, maybe the score is semi-close, but it won't be a game South Carolina fans get nervous in. Georgia is going to hurt Nebraska badly, that game is going to be really ugly.

That's pretty much what I thought after seeing the B1G lineup, followed shortly thereafter by realizing we've reached the point where Northwestern is the B1G's best representative.
I honestly could see the B1G going 0-7. At the end of the day it'd make the Buckeyes season look pretty special if Purdue, Wisconsin, MSU, Michigan, and Nebraska all won their games, but that's pretty unlikely.
NW and Wisky have a good chance. I think Alvarez is gonna have a ball with this one. He is 3-0 in the Rose Bowl so far.

I'd love for Nebraska to beat Georgia, but unless Georgia shows up disinterested and remains disinterested for four quarters, I think Nebraska gets blown out.

I'm really tired of the SEC being the talk everytime I turn on the Tv, but I don't see them losing many of their bowl matchups. I can't believe I'm reduced to rooting for Notre Dame. And I'm doing it believing Notre Dame is going to get blown out. I feel cheap and dirty.
Well, one thing is for sure, if we want to quit hearing about the SEC then there are matchups that need to be won by other conference equals or superiors. I mean Oklahoma is the 2nd best team in the Big 12, they play the 3rd best team in the SEC west, and they'll probably lose. Nebraska, the 2nd best team in the B1G, plays the 2nd best team in the SEC. LSU is the 2nd best team in the SEC west and they'll play the 2nd best team in the ACC. South Carolina, 3rd best team in the East taking on Michigan, the 2nd best team in their division. Florida, 2nd best team in the East playing the best from the Big East. Then of course Bama taking on the only eligible undefeated team.
If we want to stop hearing about the SEC bowl season is prime chance to shut everyone up. I have no confidence that will happen though.

I actually have high hopes for the playoffs. Let's say the first or first & sceond year of the playoffs a non-SEC team wins the championship. The narrative then is completely different- the SEC dominated the BCS championships with their crazy selection rules, but look what happened when playoffs started....
Not saying that is what will happen, but that's my hope. I'm banking on Urban having turned us into a machine by then. And it'd be nice if those Saban-to-the-Browns rumors were true...
I think the absolute best case scenario is 3-4. That would actually be amazing and somewhat diffuse the "Big Ten sucks" crap.
I absolutely agree on Northwestern having a shot. I also think Sparty has a shot against TCU as well. Two defensive teams - expect a low scoring game, where one big play or one key mistake could determine the outcome. Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl is a decent chance. Wouldn't that be huge for the B1G if the 3rd place team in our division beats the PAC 12 champion?

Think it will be close to being as bad as the Alabama game for them. Robinson will do little to nothing. Gardner will fare as well passing as he did against OSU. They cannot run the ball to begin with. And it will be a Clowney show. 37-17 SC. Lord help the B1G doesn't look like absolute weasel dung in all of their bowl games. Very concerned....
I think TTUN has a decent shot in this game. I feel their defense is improved enough to keep them in the game and contain USC's running game, but they will have to stop USC's passing attack. They don't match up well against USC on offense because they aren't an efficient passing offense and I expect rushing yards to be tough. On offense, play action and misdirection will be key to neutralize the speed and athleticism of USC's defense, but if they don't open up the playbook and call a game like they did against OSU, they will lose by 2 TDs.
I look at it this way. Those people keep singing the praises of jabba and how he is such a great coach. Here will be the true test. He has over a month to prepare, can he beat Spurrier? My money is on the Heisman winner and NC coach in this one.

I actually think they could win too. I'm not very high on South Carolina and believe they are as highly ranked because they're a product of the SEC. For SC it is really hit or miss as you can see with them stomping Georgia, barely getting by Tennessee and Vanderbilt and then pulling it out against Wofford.

The thing is ttun cannot run the ball. They have to rely on Robinson to make the big play or Gardner making plays in the passing game. SC has the athletes on defense to contain DR and nothing says Gardner is able to come through. They will end up 8-5 and if they do not get incredibly lucky against NW in the last seconds of that game they would end up 7-6. And they still sing the praises of the almighty Mr. Flintstone. Go figure. A team that is "back".

As much as I despise hearing about the Mighty SEC, I hope that the Gamecocks demolish Michigan. Forget about conference loyalty, my two favorite teams in the world are: the Buckeyes and who ever is playing Michigan.

When the bowl match-ups were announced, perhaps Michigan thought they got shafted having to play with the Cocks. I see two possible scenarios:
1.) Michigan gets blown out by the Cocks, and the Cocks beat that Michigan secondary all day on deep passes with the long ball.
or
2.) It could be a close game that hinges on 1 or 2 important plays. i.e.: the South Carolina Cocks QB pulls out early from under the Center and they fumble the ball, Michigan recovers and it's a decisive turnover to give Michigan the win. Or, at the end of the game, the Cocks are trying to tie the game, and they run a few naked bootlegs to set up a 4th & Goal at the Michigan 1. The Cocks runs a QB sneak trying to penetrate the line of scrimmage. They think they got just the tip of the ball in, but after video review - they didn't enter the endzone.
