I should preface this posting by making the statement that I am not advocating anyone on 11W ever rooting for, wishing for, or even being mildly satisfied with a victory by ttun at any time, in any sport, in any given year. With that said:
Recently, I read an article by Kyle Meinke on Mlive.com about the Outback Bowl's matchup between ttun and South Carolina, hoping to find some ammunition to use while making fun of our northern neighbors would-be struggles against a second-tier SEC team.
In an excerpt from the aforementioned article:
Giving back to Armed Forces:
Hoke said Michigan has purchased 1,000 Outback Bowl tickets and will distribute them to service men and women at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. He often has expressed admiration for the Armed Forces, in particular the Navy after spending time near a base while coaching at San Diego State. He distributed tridents to his team last year, a symbol of the U.S. Navy SEALs, and had his seniors train with the SEALs in Southern California earlier this year.
As much hatred, and animosity as I have for a team that I grew up despising in every way, shape or form, I found this to be an honorable gesture from ttun. While I will not openly root for the enemy even if they are in a fight against one of eSECpn's beloved-children. I will view this game with the same mutual respect that our rivals in The Game have always shown our beloved Buckeyes.
I felt this was just another reason that college football in this great country is such an important part of our lives. It gives us the forum to compete with others, offers us hope that next year...will be OUR year. College Football, as well as sports-in-general affords us the opportunity to honor a fallen hero and the ability to heal following great tragedy. Bringing us together to share a common passion all-the-while with the realization that we are living in the greatest country on earth.

Good article!
Thanks for sharing Vin. It is always good to see some decency remains in this usually cruel and selfish world we live in. Yeah it's TTUN, but it's an awesome gesture to honor the troops that afford all of us the luxury of being able to watch college football every Saturday knowing someone else is watching all our backs. I'll salute Hoke for this move, a testament to humanity, at least this one time. Go bucks!
Yeah...That was my point. While I won't root for Michigan in this bowl game, I do appreciate that fact that we are all part of something bigger. The troops that serve our country everyday are what allows us the freedoms to play and watch these games.
Personally, I would like to see more teams donate unused tickets to our troops.
“Right now, Michigan is not at the pinnacle of college football, and that’s all Urban Meyer cares about...He’s been there and knows what it takes to get there.”
WOW!! Michiscum is....YAAWWWN....z...zz...zzz...ZZ.....ZZZZ.....
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
USA! USA! USA!
As much as I hate scUM, at least they got something right for once. Support for our troops always great to see, even if that support does come from TSUN.
That's pretty cool by TSUN to do that. Sometimes it's easy to forget that beyond the hate of the rivalry, they are a classy institution just like our great university.
Class of 2010.
