14 lb recruits

How many do you think we pull in? Who do you think they are? Which one has you most intrigued?

My list I think we only take 3-4 with one of them being a hybrid player that plays the viper role.

Kwon M, D Booker, N Morgan, K Berger(viper)

Kwon hands down has me the most intrigued because of his nose for the football. He also knows how to take on blocks and shed well by looking at his highlight reels. His lateral quickness is good too. Pass coverage needs worked on, but really most lb prospects out of high school usually don't refine this skill until they move to the next level.

Note: I would really like for C Garrett to be in this class, but I think he maybe goes to the SEC by a lot of the news I have heard about him lately. He seems to be really liking the offers he is getting from down south and the attention they are showing him.

I think Raekwon McMillan and Dante Booker are givens.

After that, I would love an one of Nyles Morgan, Clifton Garrett or Kyle Berger.

I know Clifton has been known to play the recruiting game but I do believe he really like the Buckeyes and if some of his good friends (Kwon, Booker, Barker, Snodgrass) all pledge for OSU he'll probably have a hard time to not follow suit.

I don't feel that McMillan is a given to OSU (unless you're saying that it's a given we want McMillan, in which case I agree).

McMillan favors OSU currently, but I wouldn't rule out Clemson as a viable contender. My personal guess is that Glass will end up decommitting to Georgia in favor of Clemson (he blogs occasionally for USA Today, and in one of his posts recently he mentioned that Clemson has a lack of safety depth in a way that Georgia doesn't, which is appealing to him). If that happens McMillan will have friends in the form of Glass, Kitt (also leaning Clemson now) and Watson all at Clemson -- that would be a big pull (and I think is part of the reason why Clemson is his #2 to begin with). Of course, OSU could end up with any of those players as well (I think we're #2 with most/if not all of them), but if everyone but McMillan chooses Clemson I wouldn't be suprised if he went along with them. Especially if OSU gets Booker but not Garrett (as McMillan has said that he wants to play with both Booker and Garrett). Playing with Drew Barker at OSU is also appealing to McMillan, and it's very possible we won't ever offer/get Barker. Just my two cents tho, no inside info.

Yes I meant given as in those are the top 2 LBs we'll take.

I do think we lead for Kwon and it's not close at this point. He's consitently said we're the top team, while cinterhanging his 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams. The Michigan visit even furthered our lead.

However, no recruits a lock until they actually commit (and even then some aren't until they actually sign).

Honestly I'm just worried about Mitchell and Johnson right now.

I initially read the title as "14 pound recruits" and wondered why we'd target such scrawny toddlers. Wasn't that RichRod's wheelhouse?

I'm definately worried about those two as well. Just hoping the all star games bring us some nice surprises.

I would think Booker would be in line for a move to Viper out of all of them.  He's almost big enough already and is a freak athlete.

I think the staff would ideally like Booker to be a pure LB, but you might see him with a hand on the ground when he fills out. He's a huge kid.

Berger would probably be the best fit for the viper simply because he is not only large, but very mobile. There's a reason his biggest comparison is to Jake Ryan, who basically plays a version of the viper at UM

I agree on Berger from his stat line (10 sacks I believe) and what i've been told he plays with his hand on the ground fairly often.

I read this forum like 14 pound recruits.

"Did you push yourself to be great today? If you didn't do it you lost a day. We ain't got many days to lose. We're going to push your a$$ like its never been pushed because what you've got in you were going to find out" UFM

I read it the same way and started thinking that recruiting is starting earlier and earlier. 14 pounds is a 6 month old baby? The scouting reports must be amazing. Crawls with purpose and aggression. Good hands. Elusive. Doesn't cry.

We will take all 4 and Berger is being recruited by tOSU for the Viper position and will probably fill out ala Jake Ryan. Garrett does like the offers from down South however kids like this stay up North 9/10 not worried as ive heard we currently lead for him too. He also brought his dad w/ him for The Game which is huge bc that makes it more of a business trip and youll notice his dad wasnt there for other visits. I would say its too early to predict positions bc all 4 will have the measurables and athleticism to play all 3 positions but if I had to guess id say Raekwon-MLB, Booker-OLB, Garrett-OLB, and Berger-Viper/OLB.
