According to Marcelys Jones' twitter account he has committed to The Ohio State University! Personally I'll wait for the gray box, but this is a great Christmas present if its true!

Need confirmation now...
Confirmed by Derek and miles, Merry Christmas to all
Derek is on top of it, it's been confirmed. Urban let him commit today, Christmas gift.
Derek Young and Bill Greene are both reporting it on Twitter. Mark Pantoni tweeted "just got a BIG Christmas present."
Merry Christmas indeed!
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
It seems true. Welcome to Buckeye Nation!
The 2012 National Champions.
Awesome news, DT or OL, will be interesting to see. Glad to get a glenville guy early too lol.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Not the biggest fan of him as a player, but Urban must see something in him, so great to have the first commit for 2014 on board.
What about him makes you not a fan? I respect opinions, I just haven't seen video on him to pass judgement...
Tom Crean listens to Nickelback...
He's about 25-30 pounds overweight for a guard. Many scouts would agree, he has a lot of fat to lose to play well at a D1 level.
No worries there, just wait till Mickey Marotti gets him on campus after his senior year haha. Might be why those DT rumors started, though.
I agree... I was kind of shocked to see that he was listed as a guard... From looking at his measurables I was just assuming that he was a tackle, but that's what I get from assuming. Looks like I need to start researching my 2014 recruits :)

That is not measured now though. As a prospect now, he is overweight and uses his size more often than not (like most HS players) to push smaller players around. A measure of him as a prospect does not take into account coaches of where he may land. We all love Marotti and know he'll do wonders for the kid, but as he is now, he is not incredibly impressive.
I have seen him live and just wasn't very impressed. He will need a lot of time in the weight room and in a good nutrition program. Hopefully that will help him get quicker, because he looked slow and not very agile. He also relied almost entirely on his size advantage, which he won't have playing against D1 talent. I am never really high on huge high school OLinemen who rely almost solely on that size advantage.
My guess is that he will need a few years before he is ready to see the field for us, and he will most likely be limited to playing on the inside of the line, where he does have the potential to be very good, with the right coaching and weight program.
One of the main praises this kid gets is the ability to move for his size. His strength is run blocking, and he plays DT, and you can see in his tape that he certainly has the ability to chase down a block, leadblock, and carry through the play. That's not just "using size".
Furthermore, to the point that he'll "need a few years before he'll be ready to see the field", I hardly think that's a disadvantage, seeing as he is a junior in high school. He'll improve for his senior year, hopefully lose some bad weight, and then redshirt like most freshman OLs do, and be ready on schedule. His play gives us no reason to believe he's at a disadvantage.
One thing to remember is, he has a summer of camping ahead of him and another full high school season to play. I wouldn't be surprised, if the weight and nutrition problems aren't going to be worked on quite a bit over the next year anyway. I'm sure suggestions will to his highschool coaches for how he can get into better shape and more college ready.
My guess is that you simply weren't looking at the same things the coaches look at to determine a player's ability to contribute.
The fact is there's no way Urban would have offered him this early with a potentially smallish 2014 class if he saw him as a 3 year "project". Consider all of the really good high school players so far that have had to wait for committable offers.
The coaches think he can contribute somewhat early at a very high level or they would not have offered this yet.
That's why I said that Urban must have seen something I didn't. I only gave my opinion from seeing him play a couple times. I realize I know very little compared to the coaches, but thought I would give my 2 cents based on what I saw. I would love to be wrong and have the kid come in and be the next great lineman here.
Great news, go bucks!
Great to see a commit! What does this do to the school of thought that urban was telling guys to hold off till after 2013 is done?
I think Urban wanted the skill guys to hold off until NSD. It's looking like our OL and DL for 2013 are done, so Jones committing wasn't going to scare anyone off.
#7 OG according to 247 -- great catch! Now we just need Urbs to start getting those top OL from outside of Ohio to commit and we've got ourselves some action! 2014 is going to be an exciting class! I heard a rumor somewhere that the staff is considering using Marcelys at DT, has anyone heard anything definitive about that? I just can't see it given our DL strength and are lack of OL depth.
Also saw Marcelys tweeted Raekwon McMillan just after Marcelys committed--gotta love that!
Every time a gray box appears a Buckeye is received!!!
Love this!! Jones is a mauler!!
SCOTTC.
What do you guys think is next... Commitment #2 for 2014, or the next commitment for 2013?

Marshon Lattimore.
I'm gonna say next for 2013 with the all star games coming up
Trey Johnson on Jan 4th will be the next commit. Followed by Mike Mitchell and James Quick on Jan 5th.
Hopefully you are right!
Maybe im not maybe Lattimore commits tomorrow
