am kind of confused myself. read somewhere he isnt committing until his mother sees the college. then i read he is taking an official visit to tosu, but how does a player take an official if he hasnt an offer, and from what i have read, he has no offer. i am a bit new to this game of recruiting, perhaps that is why i am confused. and he has been up to cbus how many times now? where do i take the class "recruiting 101"? lol.
The school is more likely to pay for your visit (an official) if you have an offer. But in this case OSU is interested in Timmons enough to bring him in without having offered him a scholarship yet.
Don't know how I missed it, but it was long overdue, and lacking on bit of news, AN OFFER!
Why wait on Quick's decision, when we have an AMAZING TALENT AND GREAT KID like Timmons who WANTS to be a Buckeye?
The fact that anyone would even fathom playing for Strong in the "Little" East instead of Meyer in the Big Ten means that person is out of their ever-loving mind, AND doesn't deserve to compete with Timmons for an offer due to the fact that he lacks enough common sense to make such an easy decision!
I live 30 minutes from Louisville, the place is shit, and the University is even worse. I don't know anyone who went there who has a single positive thing to say about it.
To make matters even more insane, Louisville lost to Syracuse AND UConn! WTF?
I feel better about Quick being a Buckeye now moreso when I did before The Game. It seems he feel in love with OSU. I'm letting the dominos fall for Quick. In due time, I feel he will be a Buckeye, unless something crazy happens. I would accept him over Timmons, no offense to Timmons. Quick has proven more to me than Timmons has.
Gibson is the other Buckeye we may recieve for the WR class this year, and we could take one more WR, depends on a lot of things. Corey Smith is probably the 3rd option right now.
No, I never said he wasn't. Just saying Ohio State has a plan of who they want. If they felt like they weren't going to get anyone, Timmons would have been offered a long time ago and he probably would've committed on the spot.
Timmons is a backup plan basically. Urban is trying to get the best talent available that fits his spread offense. There's a chance, but a slim one seeing Quick was blown away and Gibson seems to be a lock. Corey Smith has a committable offer too. So we shall see how it ends up come February.
Quick made his name as a freshman at a great football school. Quick is good. He has benefitted from a very good program surrounded by many other D1 recruits each year of high school career and was one of those kids that matured quicker than others. His size as a freshman is nearly the same size he is now. His freshman and sophmore numbers are better than his junior and senior numbers. He scored 14 TDs this year and had less than 1000 yards.
I have seen Quick play and I was impressed but in no way does he fit a spread better than Timmons and I would go on to say it isnt even close.
By the same measure Quick is your more typical WR that will get 3-5 looks a game and maybe not even that in a spread offense. He is not a go over the middle guy.
There is a reasons why Quick has an offer and Timmons doesn't, so not sure how you can say that about James. James has speed, and gets YAC, a great route runner and good hands. There are more things a coach looks at. Timmons is a play maker and has great versatility, but that's all I see in him. Not exactly WR type. He's listed as an ATH, remember that.
82 catches for 1,333 yards and 14 touchdowns this season isn't half bad when you're up against teams like Moeller, Brentwood, Elder, St. X. They only played 9 regular season games.
All Timmons does is run north and south and that labels him a better fit? Not sure I understand where you are coming from.
Quicks Top 3 all run spread offenses. He'll fit fine wherever he goes.
I think your homerism of Timmons is obvious lol, trust the staff bro they know better than we do.
I don't understand why we won't offer Timmons over Gibson, why wait on the kid struggling to make the HS grade as opposed to the kid that already has everything in order as far as grades are concerned.
Again, Timmons isn't a WR, he's an ATH who mainly takes handoffs. Gibson is a WR.
Quick is slightly better than Gibson, but Shelton also posseses great hands, abilty to get YAC and speed. Runs a 4.48 40 last I seen. 27 Vertical, 4.30 20 yard shuttle. Not too shabby.
Gibson is an explosive threat with some shake and bake in the open field. He is a lean, sleek athlete with skinny ankles and very quick feet. He explodes off the line and gets into routes quickly.
He dominated FNL camp, not sure how you can't be sold on the guy.
Adding to what Gene said above is that between the 3 Gibson is the most explosive off the line. Gibson may not even be the fastest of the 3 but explsion off the line to get into routes is something that is crucial for a WR as the progress from one level to the next.
lol... Funny you bring it up, an interview was just posted on the homepage like an hour ago. Enjoy

The staff is waiting to see what happens with Quick I'm assuming.

Don't need an offer to take an official visit.

Am I missing something, or is Urban?
Wait, so every kid that doesn't accept a Buckeye offer right off the bat shouldn't be recruited?

so gene are you saying timmons wont be a buckeye?

Maybe so. I couldnt argue about that
