Why are a lot of people predicting TSUN to upset Ohio State?

I see a lot of people on the internet predicting TSUN to upset OSU.  They try to say that Devin Gardner has made them a lot better. Lets be honest people, Gardner is not Chad Henne. Gardner has put all his stats up against Minnesota (6-5), Northwestern (8-3), and Iowa (4-7). Aside from Northwestern, those aren't challenging opponents. Gardner was 12 of 18 for 234 yards against Minnesota, 16 of 29 for 286 yards against Northwestern, and 18 of 23 for 314 yards against Iowa.  Blowing out Minnesota and Iowa was obvious but Northwestern made them look very exploitable. Remember a month ago when Matt Mcgloin and Penn State picked apart Iowa and everyone said their passing game would do the same to us? Remember when everyone said Nebraska was going to come into the shoe and blow out OSU? How did that work for them?

Now on to the TSUN defense side. They have struggled against mobile quarterbacks all season from Air Force to Northwestern. And lets not forget that LAST YEAR'S OSU offense put up 34 points against TSUN in the big house. That was tied for 2nd most points we scored in a game all of last season.  I see no reason why OSU would not be able to do even better than that this season especially since this undefeated OSU team will be playing very inspired football because it's for the seniors and it's pretty much our bowl game.

In conclussion, I see no reason for anyone to predict an upset.

Also, fast fact. OSU has not lost to the same big ten team twice in a row since losing to Wisconsin in 2003 and 2004.

I think UM is going to cause our defense lots of problems, itll be up to Braxton and Hyde... if its anything like last week we'll be in a lot of trouble... i see this being a frustrating game, not sure who wins. Either way Ill be in the stands with a big middle finger as UM takes the field.

@Gobucksosu
It would make sense if you said, "I don't think there will be an upset on Saturday."  However to say you see no reason for someone to predict an upset is a little crazy.  For starts its, THE GAME, its a rivalry game, anything can happen with that alone.  I like a stat I read from an article earlier today.  OSU ranks 85th nationially which is the highest it's been in weeks.  10 of the 12 B1G teams rank in the top 60th nationally in pass defense.  OSU and Northwestern do not.  Which coming from the B1G which is not necessarily a pass happy conference and Michigan passing better as of late, (against bad teams) could make this matchup interesting.  I'm just saying this could be a good game and to say without a doubt that an upset could happen is just nonsense.

As much as I'd love to see a beatdown, I see this one as being close.  UM has some good coordinators now that actually know how to scheme for an opposing offense, unlike the Rich-Rod years.

That being said, f*** M*ch*gan and I hope we beat them by 100.

I don't think there will be an upset, and I don't think Gardner has looked great throwing the ball.  There were more than a couple balls he tossed up there against Iowa that a better D, even as bad as our passing D has been, would of made a play on.  I think Gardner has looked good(better than Robinson throwing), and quite honestly I'm not sure why they converted him to WR, Robinson is a great runner but not all that impressive passing the ball, I had always heard Gardner was going to be a great QB, and they move him to WR?  Never made sense.  Anyway, I think some of those balls he's completed down field against Iowa, don't get past the likes of Roby and Howard.

I'm very anxious about this game.  Just don't have a good feeling about it at all.

That said, I also don't have a logical reason for that.  I do think m*ch*g*n is peaking at the right time, and Ohio State isn't.  Just my opinion

HOPE I'M WRONG.  Can't stand those people, and I'd give a good amount of money to see a sudden plunge in the ludicrous m*ch*g*n apparel per capita worn around Columbus.

I also believe I'm still damaged from Cooper Derangement Syndrome - the Tressel years only diminished it a bit.

My wife and I are sitting with the band Saturday, and the last time I saw an OSU-m*ch*g*n game was when Shawn Springs fell down.  I just don't want to witness another unbeaten OSU team go down to those people.

Gobucks: ESPN and the press always want a good story, and a dominant 11-0 Urban Meyer led Buckeye team with Heisman Trophy candidate Braxton Miller vs. struggling 8-3 scUM w/ blowout loss to Bama and last-minute squeaks by Air Force, Sparty, and Northwestern doesn't sound very sexy. Instead, they're milking a vastly overrated Devin Gardner and a once-exciting Denard Robinson for all it's got to get people to tune into this rivalry game.

We've knocked off the presumable winner of the Legends division, tucked away the Leaders trophy, and are ranked 4 in the AP poll. Whether we can hang with Bama or Oregon in a title tilt may be up to question, but we've certainly achieved much more than anyone else in the B1G can claim to have done.

BuckeyeJason: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Why the animosity? So what if I'm a homer--this is an Ohio State site for crying out loud! I'm damn proud of my team that has found a way to stick it through one of the darkest periods in Buckeye history, and fight with more heart to stay undefeated where plenty of more talented "complete" teams like the 2010 Alabama squad and 2012 Virginia Tech team fell apart and stopped caring. The 2012 Bucks have nothing to play for, yet are giving it their all. Under your logic, the 2002 "Luckeyes" (squeaked by unranked Cincinnati, 23-19, unranked Wisconsin 19-14, Penn State 13-7, Holy Buckeye'd Purdue 10-6, overtimed Illinoi 23-16, survived Michigan 14-9) were also a terrible team which "squeaked by a LOUSY schedule".

And you obviously didn't read my second post: I mentioned that squads like this year's Bama, K-State, or Oregon are elite. They play sound offense, shut-down D, and have some of the best coaches at the helm. When did I ever say I would find a way to butcher such top teams? Notre Dame, I have issues with (please give me an example of any win they have that impressed you so much that they're better than OSU. Pitt on a 3OT missed kick? Stanford in 2OT on two blown calls Mike P called the worst officiating of the season? 3 points to Purdue?), but that's another story for another time.

Wake up and rewatch the games? I do. I have BTN, and get replays every week. I follow Ross' breakdowns and see the coaching staff make appropriate in-game adjustments to unforseen gametime situations. I see the potential of this squad and the fact that the talent is used to maximize their skillsets. Statistically, I see a Braxton Miller with a possible Heisman invite, two potential 1000-yard rushers, and a Ryan Shazier with numbers comprable to Manti Te'o. Did I ever say we're number 1 this season? Absolutely not. Stop putting words in my mouth and stop assuming that I'm the same as whatever "dulisional" OSU fans you're unlucky enough to be living around.

When I think of DRob, and his "imaginary spoon", or Hoax with his "OHIO" lack of respect, I can only think back to the (then) newly "renamed" Muhammad Ali, when he fought Ernie Terrel(yeah everyone, I'm OLDER!!!).  Terrel INSISTED on calling him "Clay", to get under his skin, and Ali made him pay!!!  What's my name, Pop, Pop, Pop, (those are simulated "lightning strike" jabs).  What's my name? Pop, Pop Pop.  Trust me, at the end of the fight, Terrel KNEW his name, and took a beating in the process, of learning it.

I only pray, the Bucks administer that type of beat down.  I can only wish they would "eat with the spoon", if they win.  But I think, they're TOO classy, and unlike our freinds, from The S**T House, know how to act like "they've been there before".  I do think however, if they happen to be in a blowout, Uncle Urban, (unlike his predecessor), WILL "step on their necks"...........

Im really surprised at the lack of respect for scUMs offense. Sure were 11-0 but it hasnt been a year filled with dominant performances guys. This team CAN be beat on any given Saturday. Just because I bleed scarlet and grey doesnt mean I dont notice the kind of football team we have this year. If the 90's thought us anything its to NEVER overlook "THE GAME". The fact that they have somebody that can actually pass at QB and Denard in the backfield should make any team slightly concerned. We dont have a Alabama type of defense so im not sure where all this over the top optimism is coming from. I hope we beat the living $hit out of em but to go in thinking we have his game won is just crazy talk. Didnt we learn from 2006 about being overly confident?? I know ill probably get a few downvotes for this post but oh well. It just amazes me how so many of us can act so cocky about a team that has struggled most of the year and squeeked through a weak schedule. Some say Gardner hasnt played anybody but neither have we so how do we know how good we really are? Until we get back to winning NC's and beating top 10 quality teams we should probably remain humble...

fans can be over confident. we all know this team isnt. not with this head coach and that staff. they dont read our rants. im sure their heads are where they need to be. ithink biggest thin four the bucks going into this one on D any way is health. a year ago we had a guy go down in practice week of the game that forced changes and then shazr played the game with one good leg. and as far as denard being in same back field and the bucks having to be ready for him. i think it goes both ways a bit. seen it a ton of times where a team tries to make sure a player gets a certain amount touches and it backfires cause they force it and dont let the game come to them. just me but i really think if mich cant run it inside a bit we could get gardner and this O one dimen and get after em.

I wouldn't pick them Michigan to upset us (and didn't). But 2 of their 3 losses are against the top two teams in the country.

The tiebreakers when it comes to common opponents are Purdue (they won that game easily while we played terribly but won in a miracle) and Nebraska-- an opponent against whom we moved the ball at will, while the Michigan backup quarterback was sub-Bauserman-like. Of course, Michigan has their own miracle win too, against Northwestern. I think it adds up us being slightly favored, so it's not a huge stretch to pick the upset, especially if you've bought into the "it's all different now because of Hoke" theory.

Also, I suspect most people picking an upset are basing that opinion off last week's game, and have forgotten how effective our offense actually has been for most of the season, especially when it's really needed to be,

I think momentum will play a large role in this game.  Whoever comes out fastest in the first quarter will have a good chance of putting the other team on it's heels and possibly pressure them to try to do too much and make mistakes.  Unfortunately OSU is a very poor first quarter team this year, so I hope for early success or at least a scoreless first.

In the end, I think we have more talent and better coaching, but if things start to go wrong I could see it snowballing not in our favor.

The Buckeyes do start slow at times but as the game goes on, especially in the second half, I noticed the Buckeyes Offensive & deffensive lines seem to wear down the opponents lines.

Another thing the Buckeyes have done well in the second half is make adjustments, so it should be close in the first half and hopefully the second half the Buckeyes take it over early and put the game away before the 4th quater starts.

The key will be HITTING Denard and Gardner.  Denard is a great player but he is NOT durable.  He can be pounded into submission and either put out of the game - which has been done fairly often - or limit his explosiveness.  Gardner is a better passer, but knock down their damn jump balls and you've gone a long way to stopping them.  Put hats on the ball and BRING IT all day.  Tight game early, Bucks blow it open in the second half.
