I think we have all noticed this. Braxton has had to pass more in the last two games of the season. I guess teams have started to figure out how to stop Braxton on the run. Next year, I see less designed QB runs and more scrambles for his running yards. The favorite designed run play of the offense (the one that scored a TD first play of second half against Indiana and last play of 1st half vs Nebraska) was not run many times in the last two games, if at all. I expect Miller to become like Troy Smith next season, but we will have plenty of run plays with Hall, Hyde, and Smith in the backfield.

Well, in an interview he admitted this being the first time he has ever been able to read a defense and how excited he is to work with the staff for 9 months and become even better. so yeah, i think thats the direction we would all like to see him go.
Anything that keeps him healthy and the offense explosive
i predict halls redshirt and the playing time next year that results from it, will be viewed as a mistake. hall is not percy harvin and never will be, he isn't better than hyde or rod smith for that matter and he is now just clogging the system with more potential gamebreakers coming in with the class of 2013
not exactly what this thread was talking about but i'll bite. You're saying you would rather have a freshman who is unproven and new to the school and system over a guy who Urban was very high on starting the season and will have another 9 months to get healthy and work with the coaches. How can having this kind of experienced depth be looked at anything but positive? We all know how easily RBs can get hurt.
Not to mention there is still a chance Carlos Hyde's draft stock soars, and he decides it's time to go to the NFL now. That scholarship "opening" reserved by Hall graduating may still come available by way of Hyde now.

I don't think Urban would've singled him out as not only one of the only playmakers going into the season, but also the best playmaker (outside of Braxton) if he didn't think he was going to work. Halll in the couple games he played in was very rusty and not in top form but was still very productive. I can't believe people are discounting him so much this year considering we haven't seen what he can do while fully healthy in the system. Urban seemed to think he was doing pretty damn well until the unfortunate accident.
Urban doesn't believe in redshirts, especially for borderline players. Hall would get less playing time 2 years from now with Ezekial Elliote and Jalin Mashall with a year of playing time at Ohio State under their belts.
The offense that Hall was in at year's start was very different than the one, at the end of the year, in which Hyde flourished. I think it will continue to evolve and Meyer will put Hall in a position to succeed. If it's a case of players not having spectacular numbers because we're spreading it around, I think that's part of the idea.
It's true that teams figured Braxton out and that the coaching staff needs to make the adjustment in playcalling to take advantage of Miller's special talents without becoming predictable. Remember that this coaching staff is not quite a year old.
Two things.. Miller needs to spend his time in films reading defenses. Two, HYDRATE

Yes definitely. How many cramps did he have this season? How does one get a crap in late November in Ohio?????

I agree that he will fall more into a Troy Smith type of role. I think one of the best ways that Braxton continues to grow his game is not by working on just one aspect of his game whether it be throwing the ball or scrambling, but needs be proficient in both. He needs to focus on his passing a lot more though since he is such a natural runner, if he becomes more of a passing threat for defenses then it will open up the run game for him and company. It appeared that michigan and wisky had his number when there was a designed run play for brax. He would kill defenses if they were out of place constantly trying to either defend the pass or rush.

We all have to realize, too, that this OSU offense was still pretty limited in the passing game. They rarely ran more than a handful of differently designed pass plays throughout each game. Many core principles of the Meyer/Herman offensive passing tree were not utilized much this season. I think we witnessed that just in the amount of times (very few) Ohio State ran the constraint bubble/flash screen plays. They also very rarely ran any RB screens, and didn't really use the TE as much as we all expected.
This offseason provides Braxton and the rest of the offense another good amount of time to get more comfortable with a lot more of the playbook. Expand the playbook, and watch teams have to compensate, meaning less focus specifically on containing Braxton's running ability.

Think Marcus Mariota crossed with Denard Robinson. That's Braxton Miller's upperclassman career at Ohio State. With another season to hone his mechanically sound arm and develop his rapport with his Wide Receivers, we'll be able to finally utilize Herman's short-to-intermediate passing game. These constraints will keep teams from loading the box and selling out on Miller, and he'll be able to decimate teams with both his arm and his legs. Not to mention the fact that Hyde has emerged as Miller's up-the-gut foil, and he'll have a healthy Jordan Hall (and freshman crop of speedsters at the skill-positions) to lend misdirection. This offense is going to be downright terrifying. Provided the defense can reload, we'll be poised for an exceptional year.
Next year Braxton will take the natural steps to becoming a better throwing QB. Young QBs who can run tend to do that early in their careers like he has the last two years. His passing has improved greatly from last year to this year and he will only get better. He also will not have to run as much with Hyde coming back as the run game should be unstopable not to mention only losing Fragel on the O-Line. This offense should be in the top 5 next year!
i disagree. Maybe in 2014...

Either way he will be even better as a QB next year which is another positive step for the team. This is an exciting time to be a Buckeye!
MY OPINION: I believe braxton will be a clone of peyton manning for years to come
You want Braxton to be a clone of this?
I agree with the offense will be terrifying......this is gonna be one team absolutely loaded with playmakers ......there will be no way any team is gonna be able to key on Braxton
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
The thing that will keep him from carrying it less will be the weapons he'll have at RB / WR the next two years and how they'll develop him. I agree with Hodge, he'll be a cross between a great runner and a good passer. The question is will he develop like Troy Smith did? If the coaching stays intact and Herman helps mold him ... Braxton's senior year could be ridiculous stat wise.

Braxton has become B1G QB of the year and should have a good shot at that and the heisman next year
