I work with Marshall's brother in-law in Dayton, and we talk about him frequently in terms of his performance and what not. Said Jalin finished the season happy with his performance, but wished his team could have done more. He has a few lingering injuries, mostly just soreness from the season, but he intends to play basketball this year, the same as last.
Says he isn't sure if he will be an early enrollee, which means he wouldn't play in the spring game, but said Jalin is actually really excited about getting into the Ohio State strength and conditioning program as it is one of the best in the country, if not the best. Urban Meyer has stayed in touch with him throughout his season to wish him well and try and help encourage him to play as hard as he can and not worry about columbus just yet.
Also his brother in-law told me that Jalin's second choice was Notre Dame even though it was never truly that close, he was a buckeye from the start.

Oh, and one thing I forgot, he said that Jalin's low showing in some of the rankings hasn't done anything but motivated him, and he looks forward to proving all the scouts wrong.

Jalin sounds like a fantastic kid, and I have no doubt he will deliver. Also, you can't really determine a lot based on 7-on-7 competitions. That's basically 1-hand tap football, and we all know how arm tackles don't cut it against players like Jalin.
Also, does Jalin plan to run track after bball?
Ugh, I really don't want him to play b-ball.....for selfish reasons.
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
I would prefer he not play bball as well. When youre a top recruit I think it's best to limit injury chances playing a sport other than the one you're being recruited for. (see Mitchell, Mickey in football)
Like one bad buckeye, this too is for selfish reasons. Realistically I just want him healthy when he arrives in columbus
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Him playing bball has its positives though too. It will keep him agile and in shape. I don't know how much he does play bball though. Is he the best player on his team like in football? Maybe he isn't that great at it so there won't be as much of an injury situation. Plus, he could step on a piece of glass walking his dog so you never know. Sometimes I wish these kids did stick to playing organized sports than other stuff.
He's the stud on the basketball team as well. His brother in-law has photos from the Middletown paper of him dunking and what not.

Who has him ranked low? Scout has him ranked the 3rd wr and a five star. Rivals has him as the 2nd ranked athlete. I don't think anyone is sleeping on him.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
@Squirrel Master he was second team all-conference last year. His team won their conference title and made it into the 6th round of the play-offs. Middletown finished 20-6 on the season.
I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault.
JACK TATUM
I think he's 79th overall in the espn 150.

What part of dayton? Im living in west carrollton/ miamisburg
Jalin is going to do great. Normally takes 3 weeks to recover and getting your BB legs
UFM is going to have a field day making plays with Jalin and Braxton on the same field
Can't wait to see him on the field. How much action does everyone think he gets as a true freshman? Obviously if he can learn the offense well enough to be on the field, 15-20 plays a game not including special teams? Or is he gonna come in and start and be in there all game? Idk, just excited to watch him!!!
He is still going to run track in the spring. He and burrows became friends byrunning track.
If there was one player I was hoping would enroll early it was Marshall, but looks like that's not happening. Hopefully he can pick up the offense quickly because he is the explosive play maker that can take this offense to the next level.
Thanks for the update I hope he enrolls early
You should ask him if Jalin is really up to 220 pounds now like his coach said.
At tOSU, Jalin won't be the sole weapon on offense and entire defenses won't be keying on only him. Jalin, your talents will not go unutilized with Urb at the helm. Enjoy your remainng days as a kid. You're about to become a man very soon...and men of scarlet and grey put up numbers!
We both work together at the VA. We work in different departments, but whenever we see eachother he updates me on his brother, he knows I'm a huge buckeye fan. I'm not sure about his weight, I will ask though. 220 seems like a good bit for him, but he's pretty tall so I guess it's not all that out of the ordinary.

220 would be a beast, I could maybe see 210ish right now and then once he gets into the OSU weight room he could balloon up to around 220ish, as long as he kept his speed and shiftyness, he could definitely play that percy harvin role both rush and recieving for us. Imagine him, Braxton and Elliott in the back field next year or in 2 years if Miller stays for his Senior season and those guys enter their soph. campaigns... scary.
