Read this, via Brandon Castel at theozone.net:
"Meyer said Rod Smith's fumble was not an issue of ball-security or laziness. They don't condone fumbles, but that one won't set him back."
"Meyer wouldn't call Rod Smith dynamic just yet, but said "he's a big athlete who can run through tackles." Also praised his pass-blocking abilities."
I'm so happy that Coach recognizes Rod's athletic ability and that a single fumble won't get him in the dog house. With that said, I think we will all agree that Rod does NEED to better protect the ball. I haven't seen a RB run with that much power since Eddie.
Go Bucks!

Meh, MoC ran with more power, but Rod Smith has more athletic upside.
Cool
O H I O is the Buckeye State
If he can start to run like Hyde and carry people with him and end his fumbling problem we could have double thunder and double lightning (J. Hall) next season in our backfield. If this happens we are going to be able to wear done teams with our rushing attack.
F--- Michigan!
i love our backfield right now man, add in the fact that zeke the freak has 83 touchdowns in 2 years as well as marshall coming in for next year, we might be running for 500 yards a game. these guys run the ball with an attitude and i love it!
Anybody know what Urb was saying to Dunn after he scored his TD? Wonder if we'll start seeing anymore of Dunn this year?
Don't forget Brionte Dunn and Warren Ball.
ok, so maybe im just crazy but, Rod Smith only has 2 lost fumbles this year, hyde has 1 and braxton has (i think) 2. now i know Rod has much fewer carries than both of them, but Rod is doing kick returns, which last I checked, you need to have some good hands to be on that unit. can we put the "fumble problems" to rest. He continues to get better each game and by next year, who knows what kind of player he will become.
end rant
@dancorona5, the rate is the problem. Miller has 184 carries, Hyde has 144, Smith has...31. We'll stop talking about it when he goes 50 carries or 2 games (say the rest of this season) without putting the ball on the floor, while continuing to get meaningful playing time.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
I hope all of our backs have successful careers, but I especially want to see Warren Ball succeed. He seems to be off of most people's radar. He is a kid who committed early and never wavered on his decision. When other recruits decommitted and re-thought tOSU, he showed that he wanted to be a Buckeye. Other recruits got more attention because they had to be persuaded.
I'm rooting for Warren Ball as well... Meyer spoke highly of him in spring practice, and we all know that with injuries, plus the experience of a redshirt year (hopefully he's studying playbooks HAM), he could see playing time next year, most likely on special teams.
