After watching a few rivalry reruns on ESPN Classic --- maybe I'm a tradionalist --- but the classic OSU/scUM rivalry just isn't the same when it's not Keith Jackson or Brent Musburger. I'm not sure who will be calling The Game yet, but I've got some strong feelings about who I prefer and don't prefer.
Keith Jackson isn't my favorite all-time announcer, but there's just something nostalgic about hearing Keith Jackson call the game at Noon. I know he hasn't called The Game in years, but I wonder if there's any way they could bring Keith Jackson out of retirement or pre-record & dub his voice (think NCAA Football '98) ?
I guess the more realistic next choice would be Brent Musburger. Again, another nostalgic part of the OSU/Michigan rivalry. I can deal with the empty back-and-forth of Musburger & Herbstreit over other broadcasting duos.
Please, dear Lord - anybody but Beth Mowins & Joey Galloway. I'm assuming ESPN has the sense to relegate them to the ESPNU Game of the Day Nobody Cares About, and rightly so.
Well, I take back than anybody part. If it's Joe "You Know, Montee Ball Could Break The Record With One More Touchdown" Tessitore & Matt "Meathead" Millen --- that would be absolutely turrible for all involved. By the way, did anybody else notice how excited Tessitore would get when Wisconsin had a sack last week? The over/under on how many times he wetted himself in that press box was about the same as the opening line on the game: 2 1/2 - 3 range. Then, after Ohio State scored the touchdown in overtime, and kicked the extra point to go up 21-14 ---- I thought Tessitore was going to off himself. He seriously sounded like the most depressed commentator of all-time. In his downtrodden broadcasting voice, I could hear the tears streaming down his once-glowing face. The emotion in his voice fluctuation was palpable.
I'm assuming Tess & Matt got over that OSU win by over-indulging themselves with a few bottles of Stella Pinot Grigio & a case of Natty Light, in the La Quinta Inn & Suites Madison deluxe room they shared.
Go Bucks!

It is Sean McDonough and Chris Spielman
LOL. I thought I was the only one who noticed, it sounded like Tessitore was about to cry after OSU scored in OT.
McDonough and Chris Spielman, I think that's who announced the game last year.
meh on McDonough, I'm not a huge fan....he's like too condescending sometimes or something. But I love Spielman...he gets fired up! Still think he'd make a heckuva LBs coach!!!!
AS long as its not Beth Mawlins and Joey Galloway I think I'll be okay. Would have to watch it on mute.
I don't know how tall he is, but does anyone else think Sean McDonough kinda looks like he could be a horse racing jockey?
I think Brad Nessler is pretty good. Don't mind McDonough.
That Beth person gives me a heahache. I like to mute it and listen to the voice of the buckeyes, Paul Keels(sp).
I think McDonough looks like a more refined version of Gollum personally.

Wish we had Nessler & Blackledge for every game. Best tandom in cfg imo. Spielman & McDonough I can handle though.
I like listening to the radio broadcast also, because I prefer a slanted view of everything, obviously. The delay sometimes makes it difficult to handle though.
Spielman would be great but I don't think that's who it will be.

nessler and blackledge or musberger and herby if i could pick. mcdonough and spielman are ok. i put the game on mute when i hear beth mowins or whatever her name is
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Bring back Keith Jackson?? That guy stopped making sense and had no idea what was going on on the field 10 years ago. The senile old man can't figure out what's going on anymore. Also BHOP, Spielman is doing the game.
I loved hearing Keith Jackson, too. It wasn't so much what he said; it was more his play-by-play style. He just had a great voice for the job. I'm a fan of Nessler, too. And Musburger. Agree with everybody else: anybody but Mowins! LULZ

Paul Keels is the man. I'd personally rather mute the TV and turn up the radio.
McDonough and Spielman are one of my favorite crews now. And I always liked McDonough, but really liked him after I he did this, and choked me up too.

I'm glad Spiel's can be there for the final act of 2012. Being able to see Urban crushing Flounder in person will be priceless.
FLOUNDER! i love it. never looked at hoke that way. prob was just like that when he went to school.
I dont know karate but i do know crazy and i'm not afraid to use it.
&
lolz. strong feelings toward Keith Jackson I guess? He had no idea what was happening as it was unfolding in the '02 nat'l championship game and that was 10 years ago. Who else is going to be there when clowns like Dan Fouts give Miami the benefit of every doubt at every opportunity when Keith can't even figure out who the two teams on the field are?
