Is anyone out there still seeing the bowl ban as a blessing in disguise so we don't have to play one of those "scary" teams in the Championship game?
I always wanted a shot at the top ranked teams as I never thought the discrepancy was as great as general opinion made it out to be. Now that Notre Dame is in the driver's seat to go to the championship game, it makes the bowl ban that much more painful, knowing that we cannot meet them there and crush them into the turf.
The best I can home for as it is, however, is that the chaos at the top continues, ND loses to USC, and Bama and Georgia enjoy another loss. It's the only way our little sanctioned squad will get the recognition they deserve this year!
As always, Michigan sucks, GO BUCKS!!!
It's a good year to not see us get blown out in a NCG IMO.
I don't think we'd get blown out in the NCG if we played Notre Dame. In fact, I think we'd have a good shot at winning it. Same goes for every one loss team in play for the title game, save for Alabama.
I'm one of the "it's a blessing in disguise" people, but it really hurts sitting here watching ESPN and not even getting a bone thrown our way. Not even a "Imagine if OSU was still in it..." comment. Nothing. No love!
I'm not really sure we'd even get blown out by Alabama. If any team would blow us out, it would be Oregon.
I can't say Oregon would after the game tonight. Does anyone really think Stanford is a better team than us? We'll never know since we can't play the game. I'll never be happy that we don't get the chance!

People are forgetting we're not undefeated yet, still have the biggest game of the year to go.

I don't think Stanford is a better team than Ohio State, I just think they matchup a lot better with Oregon than we would, and I guess I got downvoted for thinking that. Lol.
I really don't understand why everyone thinks (or thought) that Oregon would blow us out. Oregon has been exposed whenever they've gone up against a high-motor/athletic defensive line (against OSU in the Rose Bowl, Auburn in the NCG, and Stanford) and if there's one thing we have it is that kind of impressive D-Line. I honestly think, the way our D has been playing recently, that we could go toe to toe with any of the highly ranked teams right now, save maybe for Alabama . . .
@VHX7
I offset that for you. I'm not gonna hate on you for your opinion. Personally I see a lot of parallels between an OSU Oregon matchup this year and the one in 2010 and think we'd have a great chance. Maybe I'm just a homer. I'd still love to see it!

Fu*k it Dude, let's go bowling
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
It really does sting. There's no assurances that we'd win: 1) next weekend, 2) the B1G title game, 3) the National Championship game---but it really sucks not even getting a shot!
Ah well, as Crusher said
Life goes on!
I think that people need to go back over the season so far once more and see if they still realistically think we are good enough to compete with some of the top teams. I am in no way trying to discredit what these guys have done this year but I just don't think their accomplishments on the field are impressive enough to warrent these comparisons.
We struggled mightily with a below average cal team, didn't really put away a pedestrian Central Florida, struggled to beat a very dissapointing MSU, and a somewhat dissapointing Wisky (albeit both on the road so extra merit for these games), and gave up an inordinate amount of points to Indiana and Nebraska.
It is true that our defense has been playing alot better, in fact the team has been playing alot better than it did at the start, to which I give alot of credit to the players and coaches. The last few games though have been against either more traditional style offenses or just plain bad teams. As much as I'd love to see OSU go out and beat an Oregon, ND, KSU, Bama etc I am just too concerned about offenses ability to put up the amount of points it may take to beat these teams with high powered offenses.
I think this team has done an amazing job this year but their OOC schedule wasn't anything to brag about and the Big Ten's struggles this year have been well documented. I look forward to this group improving and by next year I think they'll have made up the ground between themselves and the elite schools around the country.
Our honor defend we will fight to the end for Ohio..
I think what this year proves is there really so far is no team that is head and shoulders above another.
You better bring your A game (or hope the other team doesn't) every week or you're done.
I honestly am not upset about a bowl ban at all. Urban has gone on record many times saying this isn't a great team. I also agree with someone above saying Oregon would hurt us, and I don't think it's really all that much of a stretch to say. Oregon runs the exact offense that has gashed this team all year. This team has given up huge plays all year to guys exactly like those on Oregon, only the Oregon guys are even better.
I like the idea of being the lone undefeated team in college football. We can say yeah your team won BUUUUTTTTTTTT............we were undefeated, infact we were the only team in FBS that was undefeated.
Our bowl game is in 6 days. Win it, and I'll regard this as one of the greatest Buckeye seasons I've witnessed.
I would much rather this senior class go out to 105,000 adoring fans going nuts after a 12-0 season than the guys having a debacle in a BCS bowl or the national title game. Granted, I'm sure the players want a crack at a title, but what a finish to a career these guys will have next week when they beat Michigan.
After seeing Oregon, K-State and Bama go down in a 7-day span I'm not convinced anyone is "scary," not even Notre Dame, which I think is going to get spanked in the national title game if it beats USC next week. As I said before, the bowl ban will only become a relevant complaint if Coach Meyer's high-water mark as OSU head coach is the 2012 season. Wins and Big Ten titles aside, I just hope that isnt the case for the simple fact OSU can be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better, even as good as they've been this season. We all want to see OSU sharpened to a fine point once again. Better to gut the competition with ;)
