I think $200 is generous. The year we won the championship, I tried to get a pair of tickets after kickoff. The cheapest we could find them for were $1000 a piece. Now, the significance isn't as high due to the bowl ban, but you also have to factor in inflation. Not saying you won't find then for cheaper than a grand, but I'd be surprised if you found them under $300 a piece.
You just never know. I've actually come across the scenario of drunk college girl that decided she wanted to just hang out with her friends outside the stadium and just offers her ticket for 20 bucks. I think if you keep your feelers out you'll find a better deal than you'd think. Try to look for folks that are just going to the game and trying to unload an extra ticket before they go in. That's dangerous though, as that takes place closer to or at kickoff.
With the cold weather and wind in the forecast for Saturday, prices are coming down. Single tickets we getting listed for around $100-$150 in the less appealing areas...decent and even really solid student seats which have been upgraded for general seating are now down to the $175-low $200 range.
I have always had success scalping. Look for real people selling (not just scalpers). Set up shop at a tailgate party very early and ask around. Ask every single scalper that walks by, if they walk by more than once ask them more than once. They get sick of you really quick, they may sell you a single to shut up! Pick a price that you are willing to pay and stick to it. If it is reasonable, eventually you will get to that price
Went to the last game for face value FYI. 10 minutes before game time. This year I will pay much more because I want to get in for the band and its a much bigger game. Thinking in the 150-200 range.
My bad, I thought this was about cowboys and indians.

Before the game? Probably not less than $200. My experience has seen lots of people trying to do the very same thing.
I was hoping this was about scalping skunk weasels.
