Just a question: since when can a Sophomore leave for the NFL? Not saying he shouldn't if possible, but last I remember he can't until he has Junior status as a player. Can anyone clarify this for me?

He is propably a red shirt sophmore...meaning he has been there three years. It goes by years not by being a junior.
Jim Tressel vs. Rich Rod = Urban Meyer vs. Brady Hoke
Roby is a redshirt Sophomore, and I'm 110% sure those can leave early for the NFL.

3 years of school.... he's a redshirt sophomore.
I hope he doesn't go!!!!!
Those red shirts can get a little tricky! When the first conversation about Roby possibly leaving came out around last spring, I had to look to see when he came on board.
I feel confident he won't leave. I wouldn't blame him, but I don't think he will.
I would think that a lot of these guys would want to stick around another year and go after that title!!!
why ask on here when google exists?
Or leave early and make millions...
Winning a title would be awesome as a player, but it would be awfully tough to pass up leaving if you are projected as a 1st rounder. If he comes back he risks injury or his draft stock going down. Sometimes you gotta strike while the iron is hot.
I do want Roby and Hankins to come back, but I understand if they leave.
Yeah you can leave after your soph. year as long as you either redshirt/gray shirt, or like Larry Fitzgerald who left after his Soph. year, attend a boarding school for a year after HS. Or like Cordale Jones.
@Dancorona5
I feel ya man. Hard to believe someone on this site wouldn't know the 3 year rule. Oh well.
@kareem
Cordale ain't come to Ohio State to play no school. He'd leave now if he could. Haha.
If Hank stays...Roby stays. I think they want a National Championship or at least a shot at one. If their projections continue to climb, then we may not see them in Scarlet and Gray next year. Hard to blame them really...we have talent at DL and CB waiting in the wings. Not to mention first round pick $$ is hard to turn down. If they do turn it down...I'm going to throw a party for New Years;-)

I'd love if he stays, but if you know you are going to go in the first two rounds of the draft then you have to be smart and go. Any one play in college can destroy the rest the life by ending your career. If he can make his money he should go.
Would love it if he'd stay, but wouldn't blame any of them for leaving if they are 1st round projected. There's no way I'd play in college if I was offered the opportunity to make millions because of the possibility that I could get hurt and then kill my chances at the big pay check.
rule is three years out of high school
I haven't seem him in one mock draft yet..not one! Isn't the end all be all but has some value to it.

NFL rules are 3 years from the time of your high school classes graduation. So those kids who leave high school to enroll for January get no advantage in that respect.
IIRC Dan Wilkinson was drafted after his redshirt sophomore season.
I've been worried all season that we lose him after this season. Big Hank is gone, and Roby has a ton of potential...I just hope he sticks around a little longer. If he leaves, then best of luck to him. Can't blame a kid for following his dreams,
I saw him as 23rd in the 1st round. A SI mock draft linked by 11W. Hankins was 6th.
Lol this scared me for a sec
The thread is terribly titled. Please change.
I almost shart my pants when I saw the title.
F--- Michigan!
ROBY LEAVING EARLY!!?? I commend you sir, for the long deliberation in choosing your forum title. If I might make a suggestion; JUST A QUESTION is perhaps a better choice.

I think we really need Roby to stay. If both he and Hankins go, I don't see this defense being able to compete for an NC next year.
Agreed, we won't have a good enough secondary if we only return our 2 safeties (playing average to below average).
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
