No, not Cincinnati but UC as in the University of Colorado. With Colorado voting to legalize marijuana, will this help bring in/flip some recruits? I was joking about this at first with friends, but as more states start to make pot legal it will become an advantage for schools in those states. Weed is one of the most common crimes student athletes get charged with...I don't think schools outside the SEC would try to use it as a recruiting tool but many athletes themselves will definitely think twice about it when deciding on a school.

There isn't an assurance that UC students will be allowed to smoke on campus, or that athletes will be allowed in general. Cigarettes are perfectly legal in Ohio, but OSU is considering banning them on campus, which is well within their jurisdiction
if kids want to smoke weed legal or illegal they are gonna find a way
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Buck... I understand, and who knows what the age limit will be but if they are old enough they at least won't have to worry about getting arrested...yes, the schools are likely to ban it but knowing you won't be sitting in the back of a cop car for smoking weed counts for something.

By your line of reasoning, UMASS, BC, and Washington are going to see an uptick in recruiting, too. C'mon.
No matter if it was legal or not, the NCAA would never clear it for student athletes
First of all, University of Colorado considers themselves CU, not UC.
Second, I can imagine an increase in drug testing on athletes to make sure they aren't chiefing at any point in time during their careers.

Isn't smoking pot illegal under NCAA rules which govern all states?
If Im not mistaken it is only medical marijuanna that is legal. I WAS MISTAKEN. Just seen it on the news. Damn.... Whats Next?
^^^When I was younger in middle school I remember the film they showed maybe in Health class about Marijuanna leads to high crime and heavier drugs like LSD. Wake Up America.
If you all remember the first Olympics when they had snowboarding as a sport, 2 of them ago if I recall correctly. One of the snowboarders who won a gold tested positive for pot but there was nothing in the rules against getting high.
Not trying to get political (so delete if anyone is offended), but here is the story:
http://www.wsfa.com/story/20026244/colorado-and-washington-legalize-marijuana
-Washington state and Colorado
-legalizes recreational Marijuana use
-Must be 21 or older, so I doubt it helps recruiting much
-Purchase is taxed heavily, and a finite amount (Max of 1oz, I believe)
-Still considered illegal per Federal law, which takes precedent
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Well, I bet we'll start seeing Colorado get to host some Final Four's and all of a sudden it doesn't seem like Denver is too cold to start hosting some BCS games. :)

That brings a new meaning to mile high...
@ D. Anthony..
Of course there is no effect. I don't care how high you are, at some point you'd realize that you'd be playing for UC or CSU.
Agreed with the others, just because it's legal doesn't mean the student athletes will be able to smoke it. It would be hard for me to believe that UC would embrace allowing their student athletes to smoke Marijuana and abide by all NCAA rules that cover states / universities.

CU, not UC. Sorry it just drives me nuts when people get the order of the word "University" wrong.
**looks at Terrelle Pryor and glares menacingly"
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
In other news, Ricky Williams unretires and signs contract with Denver Broncos...
with how little you can purchase and with the 21+ restriction, I'm not sure this will rope people into colorado. interesting thought though..
Brewster... I know about "CU" but the official title is the University of Colorado, and that bothers me... And I did deliberately want to stir the pot a little as I figured the title might make some think it may be about the hated (or much disliked) Bearcats.

The NCAA will make it a banned substance, that's all. Just like some muscle building substances that are legal to purchase (MuscleMilk, etc).
Urbz - I know you didn't intend it, but I just LOL'd at your comment. Muscle building - just what muscle does pot build?..... I know, sick humor.
As some other people have pointed out, that is only a state law. Federal law is still the law of the land.
If Colorado would have done this earlier than maybe TSUN would not have lost to APPY. ST.
Who's moving to Colorado with me? Parents have a condo in Winter Park. I'm set.
I just read that Onterrio Smith has joined Colorado's staff today.
No, I'm not saying pot builds muscle. But anyone can buy MuscleMilk, but you can still get suspended for it.
