Thread of hypothetical proportions.
Say you had to place a wager on a game between Ohio State vs a team in the BCS top 10, and the game was played on a neutral field.....say Arrow Head Stadium, in Kansas City, MO. In that wager, you had to pick the winner and put up the majority of you personal wealth, who would you pick?
BCS top 10 as of now:
1. Alabama- Bama would win, athletically they are a solid notch ahead of OSU roster wise top to bottom
2. Kansas State- K-State would win, quality offense would give us fits and the K-State defense is stout
3. Notre Dame- I'd go with OSU, BS ref calls aside, I don't see them outscoring OSU
4. Oregon- Oregon would win, OSU would put up 40 and still lose by 30.
5.LSU- LSU would win. OSU isn't ready for the physicality of LSU's team yet.
6. Florida- OSU here. Florida beat OSU in the Gator Bowl by seven 10 months ago. Sure Florida has gotten better, but OSU is WAY better.
7. Georgia- Not sure, I haven't seen Georgia play much. I know it would be silly, with my life's wealth on the line, but I would simply flip a coin here.
8. South Carolina- OSU. No reason to believe South Carolina is better than OSU. I know they beat LSU by alot, but I think OSU is better.
9. Florida State- OSU.....I think Nebraska would beat these guys. Florida State is a benefactor of early preseason ranking and ACC schedule.
10. Louisville- OSU.... I haven't seen Louisville play this year, so this is just a blind homer hunch.

Alabama would kill us right now, but other then that I'm not absolutely sure on the rest of those teams. Oregon, I don't know because we'd score quite a bit of points against them, think it would come down to who got the ball last. Right now we have a slow team overall compared to the SEC. We do have a couple of players I think would go and start for Alabama right now though. Hankins, Shazier, and Roby. Those 3 guys possess SEC speed.
Way better than Florida and better than South Carolina? Based on what?
BUCKEYEINANNARBOR:
look at it this way, sure Florida has improved in the past 10 months, but, IMO, OSU has improved a helluva lot in the past 10 months. I wasn't saying OSU was way better than Florida.
South Carolina runs a traditional, run/pass offense, that OSU's defense would fair better against, and I believe USC's defense is overated.....Braxton would do well against. OSU wouldn't win by 10 TD's, but IMO, they are better.
I take it you don't agree.
I think we would beat Louisville, maybe South Carolina and Georgia(but I'm not convinced by this either) and I think we could give Notre Dame quite a game to the point that I'd say this is a game we'd probably win. Much more than that I wouldn't pick Ohio State against anyone else in the top 10.
BTAlberts:
Florida State?
They found a way to lose to North Carolina State.
It's not that I don't agree. You may be right. I just don't understand how people come to these conclusions based on the results on the field. What have we shown that makes you think we could beat Florida or South Carolina?
Well, OSU would have a 50/50 chance to win. OSU has Braxton Miller. If building a team from scratch, I would take Braxton over any player on Florida or South Carolina. So that's a good start, that we would have the best player on the field.
The funny thing is, even after 10 games, we don't know that much about this team. I would really love to see us play a solid, top-ten team to see where we stack up. Having the charmin-soft schedule is nice for results, but beating up on unranked teams really doesn't tell you much.
I hear you there. OSU's season closes out in 3 weeks, so the "Who's Better" opinions really don't matter, they are just fun to debate. I do know that OSU has gotten better this year. They will need to improve just as much, and maybe more, before next year, to be a top 2 or 3 team.
FSU just has a ton of speed, and yes they've lost to NC State but over the years NC State has been their version of our Purdue. Always kind of a thorn in their side. I've also seen us give up 49 to IU. I think a team like FSU would house us pretty bad. Just my opinion. There are a lot of teams in the top 10 that if they are on our game and we are on ours, we just can't beat. I'm not using the if they play their worst and we play our best mentality to compare. If, we play our best which was likely how the Buckeyes played last week and yesterday, we wouldn't beat FSU at their best.
John Blair I agree they will need to improve a ton, but the good news is a 12-0 year means they'll probably start in the top 2 or 3, and they have another terrible schedule next year.
We lose to South Carolina and Georgia...I'm forced to watch the Gamecocks every week and their defense is MUCH better than LSU's... It pains me to give them any credit since I can't stand being stuck in Columbia,SC dealing with their ridiculous fans but their D is sick...Most games they look like men playing against boys...Even against the better SEC teams.
Georgia has a solid offense and defense...They have moved the ball against D's much better than OSU's...
