Thought I'd open up a forum for venting against Gene Smith / NCAA / coaches and players who committed violations, now we would officially have a decent chance at the NCG this year if eligible. Ready, go

Meh mostly NCAA punishing kids that had nothing to do with it. Some to Gene Smith should have taken a bowl ban last year regardless no one wanted to see a 6-6 OSU team in a bowl especially after that loss to TSUN
I just don't like the NCAA, & that's it. I love coach Tressel, & it's hard to hate any players but that's just me. This is what they wanted I guess, the possibility of 2 SEC teams in the championship game. Call me crazy but I'd root for Notre Dame over Bama, & that's only assuming Notre Dame doesn't lose to USC
It's 5 o'clock somewhere, & Michigan still sucks
TP
I'm not going to bash Gene. ESPiN, Yahoo, and SI created so much fake outrage over tategate that the NCAA was going to do something stupid regardless.
If USC stomps ND, and tOSU beats the piss out of Meatchicken, the AP might be realistic. Then again, they look for reasons to drop Ohio State.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Have to punish the school, don't blame the NCAA for doing it. He whole "punishing kids that had nothing to do with it" bit is not a good basis for claiming the NCAA should not do anything.
hindsight is 20/20...lets move on...kthanks
All my hate is directed at TTUN.
Should've self imposed last year and skipped the Frog Balls.com Bowl. Gene Smith's stupidity/arrogance cost us a Bcs game and potentially the National Championship Game.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
If we don't violate rules and get punished for them, Urban Meyer is not our coach. I believe, without Meyer, we are not 11-0 right now. Our players can recognize paragraphs, our players' dads were not paid $160,00+ plus for the players services, our players were not given abortion money, and our coach was not caught in the middle of an affair. I am a huge fan of Tressel and I think we can all agree that our violations were blown out of proprtion. However, I have more and more become a huge fan of Meyer and believe great things will come with him at the helm. There is no reason to be angry about the past or what could have been, but we need to look at what waits for this team in the future.
I still don't see how we have a shot at the Ap NC. When the SEC wins another championship this year, that team would have to be a 2 loss team and that just isn't realistic either. I am so angry that the media and "people in the know" rank every SEC team so high so that when they get beat by one another then that loss causes minimal damage to their perception. Shit, the SEC will occupy 7 of the top 8 BCS rankings in two days. (If Oregon and KSU fall below the existing one loss teams.)
Alabama's most convincing win against a semi high caliber opponent was against a multiple loss Michigan.
LSU has struggled against many teams this year, most recently today, in Ole Miss. There best looking game was against Alabama.
Texas A&M looks like they are coming around but they lost to both LSU and Florida.
Florida has looked like shat at times this year although they appear to have a legit defense.
Georgia is looking better but in their sole defeat is was an ass whopping and wasn't even close.
I just can't see the love affair for the SEC. I agree that they are a quality conference but the playoffs can't get here fast enough. i still believe there is bias in their rankings.
That being said, without the ability to throw the ball accurately we wouldn't beat many of those SEC teams that I mentioned. Braxton is great but damn, for us to have a legitimate shot that kid has got to grow beyond belief in the passing game this off season. Go Buckeyes!! Keep fighting the good fight!!
If global warming was legit, why hasn't the great lakes already covered that horrid state of Mich.
Pay It Forward!
I'm not convinced the NCAA wouldn't have banned us for this year even if we had self-imposed for last year...but it's not like it wouldn't have been worth the risk to find out.

Does anyone here really want to play Alabama in the NC this year?? Seriously?? Let's think about this for a second because Alabama would wipe the floor with us this year. No disrespect to our team, they have played their hearts out this year and deserve all the credit in the world. But if you step back and look at it, we just don't have some of the skill players to beat a team like Bama yet. Personally I love the fact that we will be considered one of the better teams this year without having to prove it on the world stage. OSU is with learning a new system this year and I am just happy to be as sucessful as we have been. Beating Tsun will be all the reward we need this year.
Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!
We have NO evidence that a self-imposed bowl ban last would have prevented the NCAA from imposing a ban this year. NONE. Considering there was no evidence that there would be any bowl band at all, there is certainly nothing that would have pointed to a self-imposed bowl ban working.
Anyone who makes that speculation is misplacing their anger and their energy. No point lamenting over something that has no logical backing.
Cause I couldn't go for three
I personally have never thought the OSU players or coaches did anything wrong, coach Tressel included. The NCAA's bylaws are so asinine and draconian it's a crime they're allowed to operate the way they are. And I've said a few time on here already, the bowl ban this season will only become a sore spot if the 2012 season is Coach Meyer's high-water mark for the program. I'm sorry, I just don't see that happening. Meyer won't let it happen because he knows full well how good the Buckeyes can become.

Personally, I'm going to put the blame on the guy who actually screwed up: Jim Tressel.
I still say there is no way the NCAA would have agreed to let us just give up a bowl game last year. They would've made it for this year too if we self imposed last year. The buck stops with Tressel, without the lies/cover-up a few players would have been suspended and he would still be here. He didn't do anything to protect his players or fall on a sword for OSU, it was all about self preservation that went wrong. His actions blew-up a minor issue into a major scandal...but you know what? I'd go thru that several months of hell all over to be here with Urban at 11-0. Go Bucks!!!
