I was trolling on mgoBLOW this morning and an interesting post came up about both teams wearing home jerseys every year for THE GAME . I LOVE LOVE LOVE that idea of both teams wearing home jerseys for THE GAME. It would be a great look. UCLA & USC does it for their rivalry game. What do you guys think????? please comment!!!!

well...you do pose a great picture arguement..... hmmmmmmmm

I was also trolling and read that post. That is the first good idea I have seen on their site. I also do really like the idea of both teams wearing their home unis.
I prefer it that way too. Especially since the colors of the home jerseys are so different. If they were both Blue or Scarlet it'd be one thing, but no real reason to need an away white jersey in t his rivalry
@hail, good job explaining nothing....
Hail reminds me of a Cylon...Not necessarily a bad thing. just the way he blends into the community and is upvoted with regular protection haha!
It was actually brought up during a 11W Dubcast a few weeks ago. I'm going to chalk it up to MGoBlog trolling our premier content and ripping it off.
It would be a neat thing to try, though. After all, it's not like THE RIVALRY means jack squat anymore regarding uniform traditions. On the other hand, how dare we allow those scUM bastards to wear more of that color in our house?
I like the idea.

I think it makes sense for USC/UCLA due to their history of sharing the LA Coliseum for a long time (until 1982) and the fact that they share the same city as their home. I'm not sure it makes sense for OSU/Michigan. On a personal note, I have always loved our away uniforms!
I agree @JLBNYC, I actually prefer our aways. The all white/gray look is pretty slick with the red accents. That being said, I do like our scarlets and seeing scarlet vs blue might be a cool thing to do.
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
I prefer our whites to be honest with you.

White Pro Combats!
Not really.
UCLA and USC do that because they're from the same City.

+1. Cool with me. Let them know.

Every time there has been a post about pro-combat unis I have posted that I don't mind doing almost anything once a year as long as it isn't for the GAME. And while we are at it that we should just both wear home jerseys regardless of location. Both teams look worse in white and it wouldn't be confusing. I am 100% for it and will take credit for breaking this 30 mins before anyone else ala Rick Reilly (but seriously check my previous posts I did post this like many moons ago).
Maybe not every year, but I would be ok with it on occassion. I think it would look really slick.
p.s. Is it wrong of me to think the gal with the AACC jersey on is hotter than the Buckeye? I feel dirty.
It is wrong of you because you are right. Although that's like saying who is hotter: Jessica Biel or Jessica Alba. You are good either way, unless one is wearing a scUM jersey.
35 hours to Pasadena! Go Bucks!
I feel the same Doc.. guess we'll just have to take that jersey off.. so we don't feel dirty of course.
DOC, i thought the same thing. i don't have a good reasoning for why i don't like the idea, i just don't. maybe it's something to do with them playing at different venues. it'd be alright i guess. post more pictures and help me make up my mind.
I like football
I saw this first raised by somebody on MGoBlog in connection with our neutral field game versus Alabama. And for that purpose, it would have been a perfect idea. It was a neutral field, out of conference game anyway. Would have looked nice. That is, until Alabama started playing...
I wish they'd stop with this stuff for The Game. Leave The Game alone.
And as somebody mentioned above, Michigan has the best looking home uniforms in football (okay so that part wasn't mentioned), but OSU's road whites are the best looking away unis.
lol @doc...i wouldn't say no to either. she just wouldn't be able to keep the jersey on :-p. Who knows, maybe it is a best case scenario-lost bet thing going on

Nah, I'm in the camp that likes to see the away team suit up in their whites. As much as I love seeing the scarlet, I certainly don't mind the whites either.
We can wear orange for all I care as long as we beat ttun.
If you wear orange that would make you Illinois. In that case, I like our chances a little better.
I have an idea. We'll have Braxton wear orange. The bad guys will think its a no contact jersey.
I think they should both be allowed to wear colors if/when they play in the B1G Championship game. Neutral field and all. See how it looks and if people actually like it.
Alternate idea: what if they made Pro Combat only for the teams that made it to the B1G game? Kind of like a carrot at the end of the season. (Although some may consider those uni's a punishment). I feel like Nike would enjoy the publicity and it gives the players something they can
sellbe proud of.I am so pumped about these last two games, I am about to jump out of my skin. The unis don't matter much to me as OSU looks great on the field and kicks ass.
This idea deserves a helmet full of stickers.
OH YEAH! GO BUCKS!
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.
Is the # on the chicks jersey's a rating system? If so I think the Buckeye Babe won.
O H I O is the Buckeye State
I'm not picky, I'll take either of them.
I can really go either way on this. On one hand, the visuals from the game would pop if each team was wearing its home jerseys. On the other hand, wearing a home jersey is a privilege for the home team. Michigan should get no such privilege in Columbus and the Buckeyes should get no such privilege in Ann Arbor. This is still about hate, isn't it?
I agree Jason. There is no rivalry like the Game. Any changes that occur need to be original. The Game borrows from no one.
In total agreement with 45OH4IO here...no for The Game, yes for The 2nd Game.

The reason for wearing such contrasting colors is to make it easier to differentiate for the players at the fast pace of the game. Also, a minority of people (5%) are color blind (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_blindness) and couldn't discriminate between the two teams. Vinny Testaverde is the classic example of this problem in players. His completion percentage when home vs away was drastically different, as he was a Tampa Bay Buccaneer in the ages when their colors were white and orange. When wearing white uniforms, his completion percentage was great, as the opponents dark colors could easily be discerned. When wearing orange, which was a really light orange, his completion percentage suffered. Nnamdi Asomugha falls into this category.
Basically, high contrast (white and dark) is best.
I thought people might find this interesting - 1954 OSU v Michigan. Looks like home jerseys for both teams. At that time, not sure if Michigan had "away" jerseys (this seems to predate the rule, which I think someone else mentioned was a result of BW tv broadcasts?)
Our white jerseys seem to go back at least to 1942.
I would love both teams wearing colors.
It would look pretty cool, I dont like the idea of stealing a tradition from USC/UCLA. Maybe we could just do it once every 10 or 20 years.
Meatchicken's away jerseys look pretty hideous, maybe we should adopt this. The SUN piping is pretty damn ugly.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.

It makes sense for USC and UCLA to both wear home uniforms as they pretty much play in the same city. I like seeing our away whites up there. The chicks can wear whatever they want...if you look close at the chick in blue, I think she/it might be tucking ala Ray Finkle. Gives new meaning to the "tuck rule".

I love this idea KSPARKLE.
Why wouldn't the greatest rivalry in this country be played with red and blue jerseys?
Upvote for you bub
I'm just happy to be here

Are their jerseys reflective (to some) of preseason rankings?
Trips through the line at Golden Corral by the respective coaches?
Sorry, I serious now.
Yes, home jerseys are cool.

Might as well, we will be winning every game in their house any ways, be like another home field.
