"The AP Poll will lose its credibility if they put Ohio State at #1". Yeah, because you are the foremost expert on "credibility", you mouth-breathing SEC prostitute.
Let's take a look at why the AP poll already HAS no credibility:
- Only drops Alabama to 4th after getting embarrassed at home by brand-new SEC member Texas A&M, who happens to be led by a freshman QB.
- Alabama back to number 2 in AP Poll after beating FCS Western Carolina and new FCS member Auburn.
- Never drops Florida after nearly losing to Louisiana-Lafayette and barely squeaking by FCS member Jacksonville State, but drops Ohio State several spots after beating bowl-bound Purdue in OT with their BACKUP QB.
- Notre Dame beats the same aforementioned Purdue team by 3 points, doesn't drop in polls.
- Arkansas ranked in preseason top 10
- Mississippi State making it to the top 12 by virtue of wins over Jackson State, Auburn, Troy, South Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mid Tennessee. Loses huge to Alabama, media then talks about how DOMINANT Alabama is. Seriously.
- Consistently bashes Ohio State's "weak schedule", forgets that Oregon's best wins until this weekend was over a 5-loss USC, 7-5 Washington and 7-5 Washington. Oregon then loses to Stanford, the one high quality team they've faced.
Oh, and lastly, there are still multiple AP voters who have Ohio State ranked anywhere from 8-12. And I'm supposed to think that these people have CREDIBILITY? I'm glad that our season is over; I'll now have an excuse to not watch any more of the incredibly biased, pro-SEC propaganda. They don't even ATTEMPT to disguise it anymore; it's constant SEC worship and Big Ten bashing, no matter what. Screw you, Mark May. The AP poll has even less journalistic integrity than you do.

You had me at "Mark May says..."
Really good points for argument when I try and make the same case. Thanks for doing the dirty work. Preaching to the choir at this point.
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
Yeah, I know that everyone here feels the same way. It's just so frustrasting sometimes so it's nice to have like-minded folk to listen to me vent!
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
The first paragraph is awesome. Good points too & couldn't agree more.

I was gonna say Mark don't know dick but that would obviously be wrong.
He and Dick are very well acquainted, if you know what I mean...

^ See!^
mark may is still upset osu owns pitt, including the 72-0 beatdown with the boston return
He'll never get over it. That's why he continues to bash the Buckeyes.
Good work! I cant believe anyone would hire this thing representing them on national TV. Not only does he bash Thee Ohio State, BUT he consistently disrespects the LEGEND in Lou Holtz that sits directly next to him! Seriously? who does this douche bag think he is??
I agree, but ESPN has a history of hiring contrarian A-holes like May. What's that one guy who got fired that went to Nebraska? Trevor something? He ALWAYS hated on tOSU. So did Pat Forde, Mark Schlabach, etc, Basically everyone who is employed there.
Guys like the Big Ten bloggers always defend ESPN and say that there is no "Ant-OSU/Big Ten" sentiment at ESPN, but I call BS. ESPN has had it out for OSU since they won the NC against Miami. They were howling that OSU was "crooked" during the Maurice Clarett thing, then the Troy Smith booster thing happened. When the tattoo shit came out, they had round-the-clock coverage on it, but they BARELY mention the USC scandal, or the Miami scandal, or the Oregon pay-for-recruting thing, or the Auburn situation with Cam Newton and his crooked ass dad.
They don't care about any of that, but BY GOD, they are going to crucify Ohio State for the tattoos those dishonest kids got! Anybody who says otherwise is a liar, or simply not paying attention. Oh, then there's the fact that ESPN has a billion dollar TV contact with the SEC. I'm sure that doesn't have anything to do with the propaganda they spew out...

Trev Alberts.
"We're talking a minimum eight-peat."
Yeah. That guy was Mark May before we knew who Mark May was. I think he eventually realized that he was wrong about OSU and admitted it, but he bashed this team throughout 2002 if I remember correctly.
Class of 2010.
He was a huge Iowa fan, and hated that OSU got all the attention on 2002, since Iowa went undefeated in the conference, but didn't play the Buckeyes. Meanwhile, Iowa got smoked by USC in the Orange Bowl.
"We're talking a minimum eight-peat."
I'm pretty sure Mark May has no credibility.
Mark May says...he's attracted to goats
You, sir, have won the internet for today.
Well. I'm not saying he is right but I would put Notre Dame at 1. You can make arguments both ways but I honestly think ND had a tougher schedule. They beat Stanford, Oklahoma in Oklahoma, blew out Miami who I believe at the time had a little momentum, and a down USC team. They also defeated 3 opponents that we faced by more total points than we did ( Take that for what it's worth.)
And I fucking hate Mark May, just so you know.
I'm posting this to facebook because I love it so much...let's try to get this thing "viral"!!!

Mark May is a puke - I wish Lou Holtz would take a swing at him!

Mark May has no right to lecture anybody on credibility - you have to have credibility yourself before you do.
These polls are rarely accurate from top to bottom. What you've mentioned in this post is part of why this is the case.
If Notre Dame wins the BCS title, then they deserve to be the consensus #1. That win will be better than any win OSU had.
Class of 2010.
You know what Mark May also said, ND couldn't go to the title game and that if they did he would wear a leprechaun costume. Time to embarrass himself this coming weekend.
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
For what it's worth, and I don't care for Mark May or ESPN, many times their comments do not reflect their individual opinion. One reason Trev Alberts left ESPN is because he did not agree with what they wanted him to say. He was a buckeye hater on air but he was a big fan of Tressel and Ohio State. I'm not claiming Mark May likes Ohio State but there is no doubt he goes so overboard that it is stupid. A lot of it is just for TV and it works. That is why we have posts like this. We may hate ESPN but we all watch and get pissed every time Mark May bashes us.
Do you have links to anything that would validate the Trev Alberts thing? I'd be curious to know if that is true. I've never heard anything like that about him before. It certainly wouldn't surprise me, knowing ESPN.
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
Not quite the same but Skip Bayless has been quoted as saying during preparations for first take, they talk about what everyone's opinion is for a topic and some guys say they will go the opposite way for arguments sake. To Skip Baylesss' credit he says he can't stand it and tells them to state what they believe even if it is the same. so it wouldn't surprise me if trev or others currently at ESPN do this on a regular basis whether they believe it or not.
"I'll fire when I'm god damn good and ready! You got that?" - Pete "Maverick" Mitchel
Yeah, I believe that they do that. I saw the segment on Friday night where Lou picked OSU and May picked TSUN. Mark May's reasons for why TSUN would win were pretty lame (they beat OSU last year, Denard had 5 TDs against us last year - never mind that he couldn't throw this time around with his injury) and led me to believe that he didn't really believe what he was saying on air.
Class of 2010.
No links, at the risk of being bashed I will just say family.
I knew someone would ask for a link. ;) I would have to really look for it but it was a first take episode and he was talking/debating with two live stews and Broussard. If I can find it I will post it.
