If Kent State wins, it has a legitimate chance at an Orange Bowl bid. The Golden Flashes are currently 17th in the BCS standings and need only to get into the top 16 and finish ahead of an automatic qualifying conference champion, in this case the Big East, whose champion (Louisville) isn't ranked at all.

this would be awesome
Change the title dude! Oklahoma can't be knocked from the BCS by Kent State.
Louisville will be ranked after last night but not high enough to surpass KS if they get to 16. Either way, I don't mind who gets in, as long as they beat an SEC team or another hated team.
There have been two threads about this already.

The one thing I do not understand is if Kent State which is currently 17th in the BCS can get into the BCS with a win and Texas loss, is why can't NIU do the same thing? They are currently 18th in the BCS with an identical record to Kent State. Assuming they win and Texas loses they would also jump to number 16 above Louisville.
NIU is going to beat their teeth in. Jordan Lynch is a stud. I know its while engaged in steamy, hot MACtion, but here's a quick side by side to John Football.
Lynch
203\319 2750 yards. 23 TD\4INT. 236 Rushes for 1611 yards and 16 TD's.
Manziel
273\400 3419 yards. 24TD\8INT. 184 rushes for 1181 yards and 19TD's.
Manziel has 700 more yards on 70 more completions and 3 more rushing touchdowns. Lynch has flat out balled this season.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
You should take a harder look at kent state. They have Archer a kid that runs a SUB 4.3 40 and if he's in the open field forget about him. I would love to see what Urban could do with this kid he would be starting for us. They also have Durham who is a monster power back that turned down an offer from Wisconsin. They also have a solid O-line anchored by a 4 yr starter at LT Winters who played in the USA vs the world game in 09. They also have McShane who is an Indiana transfer. On defense they have this undersized DT Roosevelt Nix who is an animal. Won MAC defensive player of the year as a true freshman and has been 1st team all MAC all 3 years he's been at kent. He also wrecked havoc on the 2011 national champion Alabama last year and even caught Sabans attention finishing with 6 tackles, 2 TFL, and 1 sack vs the Crimson Tide. Not saying Kents gonna win but they have multiple threats your overlooking.
I think could would be a better word. To say he would be starting for OSU over Hyde, Smith and even Dunn might be a bit overstated. I'm just saying there is a difference between a MAC RB and a B1G RB.
I completely agree to say starting over Hyde or Smith would be ridiculous. I was referring more to that Percy Harvin hybrid roll which he plays for Kent. He would be a perfect mold in that position for our offense and be that "home run threat" were looking for.
No you are right. Kent is a pretty good team, I've caught a game or two of theirs this season (This is the curse of the gambler). It was really more my Illinois pride catching up with me than anything else. NIU has a really nice thing going and is quickly becomming the most popular CFB team in the state. Very difficult for anyone to get a foothold in the Bears crazy 'State of Chicago' but NIU is plugging away.

NIU isn't gonna stop Dri Archer. He can ball with the big boys if he wanted to.

They can't knock Oklahoma necessarily from the Orange Bowl because Oklahoma can still win the Big 12 if Kansas State loses to Texas, thus putting them in the Fiesta Bowl. I think Kent State needs a loss from either UCLA, Nebraska, FSU, or Oklahoma. Those are the 4 teams that if they lose, they could fall out of the top 16.

If Nebraska loses Michigan gets a BCS spot
Very doubtful. It would have to an At Large bid. At 8-4 the odds are slim.
Editors note: That wasn't me that dinged you.

Yep
Is it me or does it sound like the Announcers for this game want Kent to lose?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
Big ten goes by fewer conferance loses. Why do you think Scum to a bcs over Msu last season
M!chigan is not going to a BCS game. The BCS selection comittee is not going to take a 4 loss team if they don't have to.

TSUN as an at-large was picked by the Sugar Bowl to play there. The top 2 in the BCS go to the title game, and the automatic bids not in the title game go to their tie-in game. After that, it's up to the individual BCS bowls to fill their final spots. TSUN didn't get picked just because they had fewer losses - I'm sure that's part of it, but the Sugar Bowl was also looking at the money side of things. MSU did beat TSUN on the field last year and won that division, but when it comes to fanbase size, fanbase travelling - there's no comparison - TSUN wins that battle by a landslide. That's another big factor into their selection of TSUN last year. More ratings, more ticket sales, more financial benefits than MSU could provide.

Well, talk can stop, game over...
Damn. Well, the BCS picture is pretty clear, now. ND, Alabama/Georgia, Stanford, Nebraska/Wisconsin, Florida State/Georgia Tech, Louisville, Florida, Oregon, Kansas State, Oklahoma if they win. If Oklahoma loses, what happens then? Clemson? Can NIU get to the top 16?
Class of 2010.
Clemson most likely (*gag*). Other possibilities include Texas (*gag*), Michigan (*double-gag*), and Donkey State (long-shot).
I'd like to see all hell break loose tomorrow as Oklahoma, Texas, Boise State, and Oklahoma State all lose, magically propelling NIU or Northwestern into the at-large spot. A man can dream, can't he?

On second look, I realize that basically the SEC and Pac-12 have dominated the leaderboards. Y'all know how I feel about the Southern ESPN Convicts, so I'll wax poetic about the Westcoasters:
- Oregon (5)
- Stanford (8)
- Oregon State (15)
- UCLA (16)
- Arizona, ASU, Washington, and/or USC will somehow end the season ranked as well if they manage to handle their respective bowl games.
Seriously an underrated conference.
