So with the rumors coming out that Rutgers and Maryland will join the leaders with Illinois joining the legends does that mean the end of the Illibuck trophy? Obviously, the Big Ten would be dumb to make Illinois a protected crossover to preserve the rivalry. (assuming teams are still allowed one protected corssover) Also, I have never really saw Illinois as our second rival, I always kind of thought that the rival rank go as follows:
1) That team up North
2a) Wisconsin
2b) Penn State
3) Illinois
What do you all think? If we play illinois every 4 years with the new division change does the rivalry die out or will the Big Ten find a way to preserve it?

I hate to say it but I think it is going to die out. Always thought it was kind of a strange rivalry in the fact that the players never got the trophy as it was exchanged by a couple of fraternities/sororities. I will miss going to Illinois ever other year due to the fact that I have purchased tickets for $10-$20 very easily. Also the fanbase was usually respectful and it was always a good time.
The one positive I see out of this is that if the trophy stays, we can keep it for four years as opposed to one.
I like the keeping it for four more years! If the Big Ten moved to a nine conference schedule we could possibly still keep Illinois, would have just one forever changing game instead of two.
Pay It Forward!
I think the primary concern was preserving the Floyd of Rosedale trophy.
@M Man
For a second there I thought that was the Brady of Hoke trophy. HEYO!

Illinois has never been a protected rivalry that I'm aware of. It wasn't 1993-2010 when the B1G had 11 teams and no divisional split. Though now the hiatus could last longer. Bleh, whatever. F*** TSUN, go Buckeyes.
Class of 2010.
