i agree with Bucks43201.. A long way to go before prognosticating their losses. Only one game matters. They'll likely lose two big road games and the OSU game
So, we're not even trying to be realistic anymore? You honestly think a scUM team with a real QB, 2 quality recruiting cycles, and a year of experience for one of them, plus a year more for the upperclassmen, does not get better? I repeat, does not get better? I say 2 losses, but they could very well be undefeated when we visit.
They could very well lose to us, ND, and no one else. Nebraska is losing a lot, NW is as well, MSU will be mediocre again, and Michigan will finally get unleash their highly rated 2012 and 2013 classes.
Could see 3-4,unfortunately not going to go in the tank like Rich-Rods teams, but as long as 1 of those loses is to the Bucs each year,I'll be a smiling fool!!!
I would like to say just one to us but man, I really want them to lose to Northwestern or the Gophers. The little guys need to pull an upset next year. I'm still bitter over Northwestern losing to Michigan on a miracle catch this year. :(
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
Thats tough because they have a tough schedule next year playing ND, Nebraska, and The Good Guys at home, while having road games at Penn State, Mich St., Northwestern, and Iowa. If Hoke can win 5 of those 7 he's done a good job IMO. I realistically don't see them beating us because Hoke has not established himself as a great coach. He's a great recruiter but if you look at his losses he struggles beating high quality oppenents 2011 losses to Mich St. and Iowa 2012: losses to Bama, ND, OSU, Nebraska
Not gonna lose to PSU. This year was PSU's high-water mark. The lack of scholarships will take a little more of a toll each year, and the players won't have the "we were wronged" attitude they had this year- that can last for one year but the it just gradually morphs into a general feeling of "things are what they are".
PSU three years from now will be truly awful.
I think TSUN's record will have a lot to do with Gardner. He's a better QB than Denard, but obviously not nearly the dynamic athlete that Denard is (few are, really). If Gardner can be the pocket passer they want, they will do pretty well. Maybe good enough to make the conference championship game, maybe not. Right on the cusp, I think.
Don't know, but it is easy to see why the felony charges/conviction were "overlooked" against Frank Clark. He was their best defensive player Saturday So the superior scUM morals and ethics clauses per Desmond Howard were shoved in a drawer for undisclosed purposes. Actually just so he could play and Joke not address the issue.
vs. Central Mich - no
vs. Notre Dame - maybe
vs. Akron - no
at Connecticut - no
vs. Minnesota - no
at State Penn - no
vs. Indiana - no
at Mich State - maybe
vs. Nebraska - no
at Northwestern - maybe
at Iowa - no
vs. OSU - yes
I'm going to say 3 losses tops but probably less. There's a small chance they could actually be undefeated going into The Game - I'd say about 20%. Rough prognostication.
Look guys, I hate scUM as much as the next Buckeye fan; I'm still pissed about the three missing National Championships from the 90s. But the reality of college football today is this: We NEED Michigan to be strong. Rooting for them to lose ten games is stupid because it harms us in the long run. Personally, I want them to be 10-1 or 11-0 when they lose to us, just like 2006. The fact is, tOSU's schedule next year looks even worse than this year. Wisconsin, Northwestern and Mich might be the only good teams on the schedule, which won't bode well for a potential NC run.
I don't want UM to be 11-0 coming into the game because i don't want to play them two weeks in a row. As confident as I am in our team, I don't wanna have the rivalry back to back weeks
I agree and its a real shame. It adds to the game when we are both undefeated, but i dont want to play any team two weeks in a row (or even twice in the same season). The rematch favors the loser. In that regard, if we were not on probation and played in the Big Ten Championship, a rematch against Nebraska would not be a cake walk.
TSUN won't lose to PSU next year. PSU is losing a lot of senior talent this year but won't be bringing in great new talent. I have a hard time seeing PSU even go 6-6 next year. Most likely 4-8 or 5-7. Maybe if they get really bad then 3-9.
The biggest question to determine before this can be contemplated is whether or not Taylor Lewan returns. He has been projected a top 5 pick from beginning to end, this year. If he leaves, Michael Schofield is the only returning offensive line starter. Regardless if Lewan stays, 3 young guys are going to have to step up to make Michigan truly competitive.
This offseason will be much like the last, with question marks at both lines, wide receiver, and, to a degree, the secondary. Michigan is losing a lot of leadership and experience on both sides, but from a talent perspective, it may be a push or an improvement, even, in some areas.
The key losses are Kovacs, Roh, Demens, Campbell, and Floyd on defense, and Denard, Roundtree, the aformentioned OLinemen, and two solid blocking TEs in Moore and Kwiatkowski.
I think defense may actually improve, but may take a few games to gel as a unit. I don't expect the offense to be explosive, but if some of these freshmen step up, it could be a very solid unit.
We benefit from ND, Nebraska, and OSU at home, so I'll say 2-4 losses is likely
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
You guys have a kid named Michael Schofield on your line? That is beyond awesom (Prison Break main character if anyone didnt know, although its spelled Scofield in the show i think)
Not knowing what all the teams they play are bringing back I'll have to say 3 losses. My guess will be Losing to ND, MSU and us. I might flip MSU and Neb, but still say 3-4 losses. Hokey Pokey will be the new 'Ol 9&3.
Slower, sure. I think Jeremy Gallon would disagree with your original statement, though. And I know it wasn't on display much last Saturday, but Gardner is pretty fast; just not quick like Denard. Reminds me a lot of Terelle Pryor, but not as strong.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
Better hope someone else steps up to take some slack off of Gallon, or that'll be a weak unit. It's never a good sign to have a pure slot receiver/kick returner be the spark plug of a Borges receiving. Well, good for us, but not for you.
I do think that Funchess will be a matchup nightmare for years to come though, or at least until we bolster the LBs a bit. He's much faster than I expected him to be, and I can't remember the last time Michigan lined up a pro style prototype TE that was as dangerous as this kid.
Agree with DAITHEFLU. It doesn't do us any good for Michigan to suck. I'd like to see them win 8+ games a year. If they suck, it doesn't help us. Not sure why people can't figure this out. Sure it's fun to beat them all the time... but if they aren't any good, it wont help us. You could argue that since the Lloyd Carr era, Michigan being down has hurt the conference overall. I think Michigan is well on their way back to being a top program, now if we can just get Nebraska to hire Solich back we may be in business.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
They cannot have just one loss. If they do, then that means we will have to lose to them! (Ain't happening)
If they have one loss, and we have none (assuming we having already beaten them in the regular season) then we will have to play them the next week in the conference championship game...in which case, we will beat them a second time, giving them TWO losses! And by then they will be such a beaten, demoralized, bloody mess, that there is no way they can beat ANYBODY else! THREE losses.
“...indomitable in victory, insufferable in defeat.” Woody Hayes
Hopefully they're undefeated going into the Game so we can beat them twice, at the end of the season and then again in the B1G Championship game. That would probably help our title game resume as well.
I'm not hoping tTUN has a bad season or a host of losses. I'm hoping they have one or no losses going into November personally.

LOL i posted that further down, just realized you already posted it +1
I was thinking of least 5 loses they also have MSU. Michigan could have se lean years.
So, we're not even trying to be realistic anymore? That's my exact thought. There is just no way scUM is coming into "lean years."
Bucktoooooooooooooth, heeyaw.
3, which is going to be a typical year for them, with an occasional 2 losses.
PSU? No way. They are going to be awful next year.
Hopefully just 1 we need them undefeated when we play them.
Could see 3-4,unfortunately not going to go in the tank like Rich-Rods teams, but as long as 1 of those loses is to the Bucs each year,I'll be a smiling fool!!!
SCOTTC.
^ Exactly. Michigan having 6 losses is going to make an already pathetic OSU schedule look even worse.
Q: How many losses will scUM have next year?
A: Not enough.
Can we please clarify? It's LOSSES...
Maybe he meant "losers". In that case...
Q: How many losers will scUM have next year?
A: All of them.
Thank you. It drives me flipping nuts how people do not know how to use loss, lose, loses, loose, and losses.

can we predict brady hoke weight loss
I think we can predict Brady Hoke, diabetes, first.
~Because we couldn't go for three~
I think it would be easier to predict his weight gain.
hopefully? 12!

We can't stop here; this is bat country...
I would guess 3 or 4, but I don't think their offense will be explosive at all so I wouldn't be surprised if they went 7-5 but no worse than that.
I don't want UM to be 11-0 coming into the game because i don't want to play them two weeks in a row. As confident as I am in our team, I don't wanna have the rivalry back to back weeks

@Hail - A very realistic assessment. I think your team will go as your O-line goes next year. I'd pick you to lose to ND, OSU, & 1 more along the way.

The smart money says Lewan will leave. The circumstances are not there to give him a reason to stay like when Long came back for his senior year.

Michigan will be a very slow team after Robison leaves. Nortfoot is only skill person with any speed.
