Prosecutors also added counts against the two former underlings, Timothy M. Curley and Gary C. Schultz, who were already charged with lying to the grand jury that investigated the former Penn State assistant football coach.
Spanier was charged with perjury, obstruction, endangering the welfare of children and conspiracy. Curley and Schultz face new charges of endangering the welfare of children, obstruction and conspiracy.
Also reported:
"This was not a mistake by these men, this was not an oversight," said state Attorney General Linda Kelly. "It was not misjudgment on their part. This was a conspiracy of silence by top officials to actively conceal the truth."
I think it's implied by this statement that if Paterno were still alive he would be facing charges as well.
Wonder if the Paterno family will release a response to these charges?

Gray, I don't think it's being PC as much as there are parents on 11W with young boys. It's too close to home. Probably a lot of contemplation going on about how you protect them from monsters like JS.
Plus, the victims were from bad circumstances. Not only did JS prey on the young. But he also preyed on their economic & social situations as well. Joking about it just seems wrong.
Of course, you could make the same argument about the media's infatuation with this case. (My own interest included.) So no dv's from me.

It's about damn time. As someone who has followed this closely, I thought it was very curious that Schultz and Curley would be charged and yet Spanier escaped charges. Now we get to see if the cover-up allegations alleged by Freeh hold up in court. Regardless, it's good to know that some of the questions myself and others have had will be answered in open court.
Humble, so if all three are convicted on all counts, does that change your opinion of the Freeh Report and NCAA sanctions?
I'm starting to wonder if the PA AG can assemble an impartial jury in the state of PA. As guilty verdicts would constitute a de facto verdict on Paterno as well.
