What is up with him Michigan has put the offer back on the table and he is visiting on December 13 or 14th. I thought he wanted to be a buckeye what do you see happening with him !
PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE

Well, MSU has been considered the leader since he decommitted. I see no reason why ttun would stop pursuing him unless they think they have enough OLinemen. And he liked them once, so it wouldn't totally surprise me if he ended up there.
Looks like Hoke finally got rid of his BS no visit policy
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
guess hoke has to join the 21st century and let players look around. Its a gamble i guess, would'nt you want to scare a recruit into not visting Urban effing Meyer?
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
aaaaaaaaand officially Hoke looks like a moron to the entire CFB world
...again...
"The revolution will be televised."
How so?
well....... where to start?
do you still think he ends up a buckeye in the end !
I know it wouldn't make me sad to see that kid in scarlet & gray.
"The revolution will be televised."
^ no. Either Um or MSU bound
#Buckeyes
say goodbye unfortunately. he was already committed once and I fail to see why he wouldn't again. if he and hoke really did have a "heart-to-heart" then he's hokes to lose
born and raised in Cleveland
Haha!
This is precisely the scenario I anticipated a long time ago, and most recently in relation to the Gareon Conley recruitment:
I'm not smart enough to have actually predicted this in Dawson's case; all that I have been saying is that I was awaiting the first case in which a recruit took a visit that violated Hoke's no-visit policy and then was welcomed back later when that player was still interested in Michigan and was the best talent to fill the position...
Thanks for the latest on Dawson!
This is a old thread, no one will read this post...
Woah man, there's no room here for real recruiting info, take that elsewhere
Went way back in the forum archives hunting for a david dawson topic just to put this quote from a Detroit Free press article of something Dawson said recently regarding the most important factors in his recruitment:
""My position coach, his record for putting kids in the league, a college and distance, even though Alabama is quite far, and other than that, the family atmosphere,""
Gotta believe Warriner getting high accolades this year doesn't hurt
Didn't Dawson also tweet to the Buckeye Nation not to "freak' because we are in a good position? or am I imagining that?
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
He kindly requested that we not "trip"
This is from Mark Snyder and the Detroit Free Press:
"Ohio State, Michigan and Alabama. Those are the three I'm listening to," he said Wednesday at the Free Press/National Football Foundation Dream Team banquet at the Dearborn Inn. "All three programs have a lot to offer, in football, academics, and Ohio State and Michigan are close to home. Alabama, that's a great program."
The decision probably will be delayed until at least late January, once his official visits are done.
Michigan will be this weekend, Alabama on Jan. 11 and Ohio State on Jan. 18.
"So my decision date will be maybe around Jan. 20 or even signing day," he said.
His criteria for the schools?
"My position coach, his record for putting kids in the league, a college and distance, even though Alabama is quite far, and other than that, the family atmosphere," he said.
But going through the process remains an important part after realizing the first time he wasn't completely certain.
While U-M's policy for decommitments is that it will not guarantee it will hold the spot for the player if he takes other visits, Dawson's Rivals.com ranking as the nation's No. 6 offensive guard means his spot probably will be available.
"After I decommitted, I knew I was going to take as many visits as I could to make sure the next decision I made would be the right one and I didn't have to go through anything like this again," Dawson said.
@ HolyBuckeye No MSU?!?! Very interesting. I still think he goes back from whence he came.
I saw a video of his hs coach talk about David and two other players at his school.
He sounded like Dawson has some personal problems and wasn't even playing all the time.
I think we pass on him and save a scholarship for 2014.
jerryt-go bucks
Interesting. Any links?
let's not go that route. he's a good kid that suddenly lost his father in the past year. tough for anyone to go through. if he wanted to be a buckeye, urban would take him in a heartbeat. he's a nasty interior OL that plays physical and plays to a high level, even against good competition. there's no 'we pass on him'. he might pass on us, but let's get off our high horses. comments like that set us up for saying "oh, we didn't really want him in the first place" when yes, we did. i HATE when other fanbases (ttun being a huge culprit) make excuses about that crap. hopefully he doesn't recommit to scUM this weekend and makes it out to columbus for his scheduled official.
He just recommitted to tsun
His teammate Delano Hill also flipped from Iowa to TSUN.
I'm suprised he dropped MSU so quickly he had named them his leader for a bit. I wonder if Dantonio saw something he didn't like and backed out recruiting him
saw that on twitter. delano hill switched his committment from iowa to ttun as well. if i were them, i'd wait on mcquay, but hill is still a solid db
Good for Dawson. He didn't let Hoke bully him and committed on his own terms.
in what way was he bullied? i think the no-visit policy is kind of stupid, and will definitely cost tsun some recruits in the long haul, but i don't see him having been bullied. every single commit was make very much aware of the policy before their commitment was accepted. it isn't any more bullying than urban telling brionte that his scholly would get pulled if he took his official visit to tsun last year (reaffirmed his commitment and cancelled his visit shortly thereafter)
It's bullying because it's Hoke and I hate his dumb, fat, arrogant face. Next question.
Well, if fact, he was bullied: David already took his ACT and scored well, but he came up with the stupid lie of schedule conflict to cancel OSU visit after Hoke pressured him that he would only re-offer him if he cancelled that visit, and that what he did. End of show; let's move to the next one.
If this is true, it's true, and it falls into a similar category as Meyer threatening to pull Dunn's offer if he went on his scheduled visit to Michigan.
Do you have any evidence that this is what occurred? I'm asking seriously. If you do, I'm open to seeing it.
The policy makes sense. It's so tsun doesn't get screwed over by recruits decommitting and leaving right before nsd. That way the staff is able to replace kids that would potentially leave right before nsd.
Whatever. Think of it as a UM just losing Conley to us, and gaining Hill in return. I know which one I'd rather have.
Where does OSU go to get an offensive linemen now?
2014. The situation really isn't that dire.
- We're losing one starter on the line, and Taylor Decker has been primed to inherit that spot since last summer.
- In the 2013 class, we're getting two 4 star tackles, and when Price/Munger flips to OL definitely, a 4 star guard.
- Linsley is a junior, and Jacoby Boren seems prepared to inherit his starting role.
- Mewhort is a junior, and Lisle, Dodson, and Gardner can fight over his spot when it opens.
- Marcus "What's a snap count" Hall is also a junior, and basically anyone which an understanding of basic counting can replace him.
- Norwell is a junior and guys like Chase Farris and Joey O' Connor can move into his role.
- Leaving out Baldwin, Underwood, Brown, etc. any guys who may move in and be an asset unexpectedly.
We have 2 with Lisle and Gardner, Munger looks like a beast on the O line in his highlight tape, Price can also be switched to Oline if needed. So we have up to 4 in our class now if we need to flip those two. At this point idk if were too late to flip any big names, but I feel as though anyone else would be an overstretch. If I were them I'd either take another LB, go after Max Redfield hard, or take another play-maker on offense such as David Williams or The Ryan Timmons because you can never have too many of those
Good commits (and re-commits) for Michigan, though it sounds like Dawson's decommitment may have been a byproduct of the stressful year that he had as much as anything. Hail, M Man, et al. How many more do the Wolverines take in this class? It seems McQuay is joining Treadwell in moving away from them, but you may have different info.
I'm thinking Lisle, Gardner, and (possibly) Munger and we call it a day for OL, unless we get last-second flip.
I'll weigh in:
- Michigan, according to experts, can take a maximum of 4 more scholarship players in this class, assuming another scholarship opens up due to attrition, which isn't tough to fathom when you still have all these RR recruited players on the roster.
- Their possibilities are, primarily: DB Reon Dawson (Illinois commit), ATH Marcus Ball (Wisconsin commit), DB Leon McQuay, RB Derrick Green, WR LaQuon Treadwell, OL Cameron Hunt (Cal commit). There are more offers out, but these, at the moment, is more or less the pool.
- Now that Hill and DDawson are in, it is in question whether RDawson and Hunt are still being considered. I believe Hunt will no longer be pursued, but RDawson will, to replace the loss of CB Gareon Conley.
- I believe McQuay stays in the south, at FSU or Vandy, as he and his father seem to put a lot of stock in weather, proximity to home, etc. (though USCw is still an option as well)
- Green, I think is solidified in this class due to his closeness with Dawson. Since he seems to want to drag it out though, there's more than a small chance that another school could swoop in, or Gus Malzahn could wow him. Biggest competition, I think, is Ole Miss.
- Treadwell is going to Ole Miss or one of the Oklahoma schools. It's all but over for UM.
- Ball may jump at a UM offer, because let's be honest, it's an obvious upgrade from Wiscy, and one of his friends, Caris Levert, is a freshman BBall player there. He may have reservations though, because he is a huge OSU fan, despite never getting an offer.
- Other possibilities may appear. I've heard of a DB from STA in Ft Lauderdale who has been hearing from UM, and may get an offer, and a few other names.
Idk if Ball would jump at a UM offer cuz his bro plays at Wiscy too where hes committed
Thanks for analysis. Good info.
This is pretty close to right-on. I think Treadwell is still in play for Michigan, though. You know as well as I do - if you get 'em on campus, you have a shot. Same with McQuay. It would be a pleasant surprise if we got either or both of those two, but it wouldn't be a shock.
I saw just the other day that they could take seven more commits before these two due to recent attrition. They only have something like 12/27 2010 commits left.
They were absolutely trashing this kid at MGo just a couple short weeks ago. Now they are back to saying he is the greatest and patting themselves on the back. Say what you will about the recruit followers here at 11W, they are nothing like that group. Other than the occasional "we didn't want him anyway" there is nothing ever here that I have witnessed that is similar to what they did to Dawson. The true class of scUM that they refer to themselves as having, regularly rears its hypocritical head and this is another prime example. And they have recently had yet another player leave their program which seems to be happening often causing so many spots open. Jerald Robinson WR was the name reported.
I have a lot of respect for some of the guys at mgoblog, but for the most part, theyre everything that they accuse us and Sparty for being.
1. They're incredibly egotistical, something that the whole cfb world recognizes
2. They absolutely have "little brother" complex. Everything they do includes some shot at OSU, and it's actually pretty sad. It's like they need validation.
3. They think their recruits are the greatest, and no one elses are anything, because Hoke is the best coach and talent scout in the nation, and everyone just says otherwise because they're jealous.
Not to say that doesn't go on here from time to time, but the norm over there is to act like a middle schooler.
I have never understood the big deal about MGoBlog. I remember a few years ago Jason or one of the staff back then giving the Hippy so much credit for such an awesome blog. Then I went over and saw that he was banning anyone who talked negative about AACC, and he was in a deep depression over DickRod's horrible team. I never understood the hoopla about that site.
To me, MGoBlog is the Gus Johnson of blogs. It gets a lot of press, and everyone seems to think it's awesome, but everytime I encounter it, I think, are people being sarcastic when they talk about this? I just don't get what's awesome here. All hype but to me no substance. I'll take this site over MGo Blog any day, like I'll take Jim Nance over Gus Johnson.
Mgo is fun for me simply because it shows how delusional M*chigan's fan base can be. Whenever something good happens to Ohio State(recruiting victories, etc), I go there just to see what spin they'll put on it. They almost never disappoint.
M*chigan lost 4 straight to MSU, and 8 of the last 9 to Ohio State. You would think it was the opposite the way they act.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Not to mention how they acted when Gareon Conley decommitted, followed by their meltdown when he committed to Ohio State.
@BUCK-I.8: Definitely agree with #2. Though the fact that they acted as if Urban being hired wasn't a big deal tells you all you need to know.
Mgo is basically just like irishenvy(a ND forum). There are maybe 3 good posters on Mgo(not including the Buckeye fans that post). The rest are what makes beating M*chigan so much better.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Mostly, I just think Mgoblog is not viewer-friendly, even if you're saying nice things about Michigan and not getting banned. It's ugly and awkward, especially compared to 11w. They do love them some graphs and charts, though. Nothing like math nerds talking football. "Thirty-nine percent of our second and long calls went for 6-8 yards..."
I'm not sure why all the random scUM fan bashing but I must say the fans that come on this site from over there represent themselves very well. My only complaint with Mgoblog is how badly their site is designed. Whoever does the design and layout for 11W has their act together, very easy to follow everything on this site.
Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!
