This year, in my opinion, has to be Urban's best shot at getting the B1G TEN Hayes–Schembechler Coach of the Year honor, because expectations are going to be so high after this year, that he won't be able to exceed expectations with Ferentz-like margins.

i dont understand how he doesnt get a lot of recognition for this. this team with great expectations just went 6-7..... its not urbans fault we have high expectations. imo he 100% deserves coty

I actually think UFM has a decent shot at both the B1G & national COTY this year. There of plenty of media types already out there beating that drum...we'll see what happens.

Seriously I was about to say that Urban's coaching job has brought OSU good national press for the first time in 7 years. He has a shot.
They seem to want to make O'Brien out to be the COTY with a feel good story about overcoming the odds. Well like Penn State we had to face sanctions this year including no bowl game. Any Senior could have left, we had lost an icon of a head coach, and then struggled to a 6-7 record the year before, and this was a lost bunch of kids. Urban came in, led and coached and turned the program back into what it's expected to be. No one truly expected a 12-0 record but he did it. Urban deserves this award but again I have the feeling that the media WANTS to give this thing to O'Brien.
