Cam 't Buy Me Love

Glad to see Gene Chizik couldn't buy himself anymore time...yes he bought a National Championship, millions in contract money and buyout money he'll never have to give back...but he couldn't buy long term love/job security from Auburn (and hopefully none from any other major programs). I have a feeling he'd do it all over again though. He would've been fired a lot sooner with millions less and no ring. So was buying Cam a great investment?

Sham Newton should have never been allowed to play at Auburn in the first place. Chizik had the NCAA's hipocrisy to thank for him winning that sham national title. To think Newton knew nothing of what his father was doing was easily the biggest bald-faced lie I think any BS artist has ever conjured. So he gets off on a loophole and he gets a national title. Was NOT surprised to see him fall on his face. Chizik had a losing record at Iowa State with poor recruiting. What made anyone think he could recruit at Auburn?????

I'm sure at the time he was riding high and livin' life! But now, To be forever linked to Newton will get him remembered, only in a bad way. NOT worth it!

I said it at the beginning of the year when Auburn was already looking bad on another board when we had Auburn trolls show up -- 2010 worked out great for them buying players and the NCAA clearly allowed it, so they likely should have gone back to that and bought some more 1st round draft picks and maybe they wouldn't have been so bad this year.

Assuming Newton's dad was paid for Cam to come to Auburn, which I think 99% of the country believes (the other 1% are Auburn fans, of course), I honestly don't think Chizik was directly involved.

I tend to agree.  Auburn has a long history of paying players that predates Chizik's tenure there.  Most likely it was Lowder, Dye and the other boosters that were involved.  However, I am sure Chizik knew of it.

I have not really heard how the recent firing of Chizik was related to any of the alleged NCAA violations. Are we just in assumption that still nothing will happen about $cam newton, or does something smell fishy.

I think it's all about the losses over the last 2 years, including no wins in SEC games this year. We're just glad buying Cam only turned out to be a short term win.

Well get ready for this. Ohio st. can benifit from some of these recruits that Auburn is about to lose from this firing. This should be pretty interesting.

Eh, I don't want them if they're looking for a handout. I don't seem to think Meyer would want them, either.

Don't know why people are beating up on this coach, it's not like Chizik did anything that happens at most major football programs in the country at some point.  Besides i'm pretty sure he didn't personally write him the check.
