^^^ Exactly. Nobody seems to remember that he was awful in A&M's 2 losses this year. He's good, but not as good as his stats indicate. Also, even Tim Tebow had 2 chances to match Archie and wasn't able to do it. Let's just wait and see.
I hate to say this but the Heisman has been sort of laughable for a long time. It should be an offense only trophy anyways with the way it's handed out.
The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender. - Woody Hayes
In the LSU game he accounted for over 300 yards but threw 3 INTs, and he certainly wasn't terrible against Florida. 23/30 for 173 and 60 yards rushing for 1 TD. Not saying I want to hand him the trophy for the next 4 years, but I think saying he had terrible games and his stats are skewed is a bit off.
Excuse me, Manziel did have a bad game against LSU, but against Florida he was 23 for 30 for 173 yards, and rushed for another 60 yards, in only his first career start...other than the LSU game, Manziel has been the best player on the field in every game, and dominated Alabama like nobody has in the last 4 years...give him his due, he's the best player in CFB this year.
Te'o?? What a joke. He has average stats except for INTs. Actually, very few sacks or TFLs for a LB. If not for the constant media machine around ND and his tragic personal story (which has nothing to do with the Heisman) no one would be talking about him. Look up Shazier's stats and compare. Then tell me RDS is in the Heismsn hunt.
Numbers don't tell the whole story though. Shazier has come on great, especially the last few games, but you just can't quantify with numbers how disruptive Te'o is and how valuable he is to one of the nations best defenses.
But Shazier is pretty important for our defense too, not saying Te'o isn't good, but as a Heisman candidate he would be a pretty weak winner.
My vote would actually go to Marquise Lee. Hard for a WR to win one especially on a 5 loss team, but that dude is unreal, essentially uncoverable in college.
everyone was saying Tebow would get 2 heismans as well. two seasons are never the same; the odds of being healthy and maintaining the level of play worthy of being the best in the country for two entire seasons are extremely long. plus, if he's at this level for three years, he won't play four.
the kids are playing their tail off, and the coaches are screwing it up! - JLS
Im for Johnny Football. Hands Down! Did you see him again tonight?
te'o shouldnt even be in contention. Seriously I could name 3 Buckeyes I would take over Te'o. I respect what Braxton has done but Johnny is The Best QB in college football.
Manziel is good, but remember, he wasn't even the starter going into this year, and there are alot of good players that have a breakout year and don't live up to it the rest of their careers (see Denard Robinson) I expect defenses to figure him out. I almost want to say Braxton has a better chance at 2 heismans, since its probably going to come down to who has the better record, and OSU in the BIG-10 is going to outwin A&M in the SEC every year.
After his Freshman year it was a no brainer that Adrian Peterson was going to win Multiple Heisman Awards. Jason White and Matt Leinart damn near did it too, and of course Tebow was a finalist 3 years in a row. It's always in danger because every year younger guys seem to play a more significant role on their teams that in times past. It used to be a guy had to be truly exceptional or there needed to be an injury for a Freshman to be a real contributor.
I still think Colin Klein should get it, but if you take Manziel, Braxton, Te'o, and Klein off of any of their squads, their given team would be much much worse than they are right now.
If Manziel wins it, he's gonna have to top this year to do it again. That's the difficulty of winning a second Heisman. Your second winning year needs to be better than your first for the voters to consider it and I don't see Manziel breaking the sec total yards record again
The wrod "have" might have been a little strong. Someone else blew their Heisman stat line away in the following year and was hardly considered a candidate the next year. I can't remember who. I want to say it was Leinert??? It is kind of like Tressel or Meyer winning Coach of the Year. It isn't likely to happen because greatness is already expected from them since that is their running standard.
Can't the same also be said for most of the games Braxton looked really good too though? I mean Braxton had huge games this season and everyone has been predicting he'll be a finalist, but outside of Nebraska, what team did Braxton put up great numbers against?
Kind of like Jerrod Johnson at AM as well at QB. Threw for 3500 30 TDs 8 Ints with 500 rushing and 8 more TDs one year, the next year he only plays 8 games and passes for 14 tds 8 INTS and is replaced (By Tannehill) But still, I remember thinking how good I thought Johnson was going to be after his JR campaign then didn't do sh*t after and got replaced.. albeit by a 1st round, rookie NFL starter, but still, never know what can happen. But Johnny Football is pretty good. Doubt he wins 2 heisman's though.
A million is maybe a little overstated, but come on - 3000+ passing yards? Braxton barely cracked 2000 and his completion percentage is like 10% lower.
I'm a blind as a bat homer & I even say give Manziel the trophy! As for Archie being in trouble...naw - not worried. I mean the kid could get 2 & tie, but I doubt that anyone one ever gets 3 or 4. Just wouldn't happen. Braxton's got it next year anyway.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
I have said it before and I will say it again- no matter who wins this year Braxton will run away with it next year with over 4000 total yards and around 40 TDs. Even though our schedule is gonna suck nobody can deny those numbers in a power conference.
Not sure I'd call tB1G a "power" conference...If some teams step up (Northwestern, tTUN, Wiscy and MSU) next year and are better than 8-4 then may be. It's as weak as the Big East this year...which is bad too. Neb and OSU in AP are the only above #15 in the country. Not too good...

Brax360 for Heisman in 2013...not Johnny (as long as Brax stays healthy). Bank it!

I'm not saying he is or isn't going to win it, that's not what I want to talk about. What I want to say is that Manziel has easily the most underrated offense around him in college football. He goes out and his backup scores 21 I believe... His recievers are amazing and he has ALL DAY to throw. Ya he can run, awkwardly, and finally find an open reciever. He has better touch than Braxton but he is not as athletic. When his team leaves around him I don't believe he will be near as good, and also possibly end up injured. This is just my opinion.
Everyone is forgetting Manziel's terrible games against LSU and Florida. Te'o should win and this headline should read "Woodson in Danger?"

Doesn't matter.
He plays in the SEC.
He beat an NFL team by himself.
HE HAS A COOL NICKNAME!
The Heisman trophy is slowly becoming a joke and it's rather unfortunate for the college football world.

Te'o should not win. If he does, its soley because of his "story" and the fact that he plays for ND. Shazier has better numbers in fact.

Heck, with a redshirt he might not even be around for 3!

Many of us responded at the same time and just as we spoke Te'o got his 7th INT
Why is the guy with 8 getting no love?

Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
This is patently false. Archie had a statistically worse year in '75.

I think
Matt Barkley,Le'Veon Bell,Geno Smithis going to win the Heisman this year.I agree with your statement.
/Duff'd It
He's a redshirt and Braxton is a true sophmore. They came out of the same class, I don't buy into the whole "freshman" bit. Manzel is a sophmore IMO.
Lock to win 2 or more Heismans.
Class of 2010
Easy to look good vs Missouri
Can't the same also be said for most of the games Braxton looked really good too though? I mean Braxton had huge games this season and everyone has been predicting he'll be a finalist, but outside of Nebraska, what team did Braxton put up great numbers against?

"He's already a million times better passer than Braxton."
Actually, no he isn't.
"Honestly, is he going to win 4 Heismans?"
Honestly, no he isn't.

A million is maybe a little overstated, but come on - 3000+ passing yards? Braxton barely cracked 2000 and his completion percentage is like 10% lower.
4600 yards. More than Scam newton. More then tebow. Give it to him.

It's for the best player...so he does have a right to be in the talk. He has great numbers
