Football Fans,
With Kenny Guiton taking over pretty seamlessly this past week against Michigan State, and Cardale Jones not saying smart things recently, I think that Kenny is my favorite backup in recent memory. He seems to have composure and kept his cool as soon as Braxton got hurt, and I applaud him for stepping up when needed. I understand there are a lot of layers as to why fans might want to see a backup QB play, possibly because you think the first-stringer blows (Boeckman-Pryor maybe? but pryor eventually got his shot, and did preeettty good i guess), or you thought they could easily play somehwere else if they weren't behind the first guy. So give me your thoughts. The tandem of Stanley Jackson and Joe Germaine is interesting, but is there any second stringers in the 60's, 70's or 80's that were particularly intriguing to you and why? Of real interest to me are the backup quarterbacks who were lifetimers, but all input is appreciated (trying to increase buckeye history knowledge)! Thanks

I like Kenny G a lot, was a big fan when we signed him. My favorite INITIAL back up was Troy Smith. From the Cleveland area, I knew of Troy and loved his "last man in" story...then he turned into awesome heisman so it doesn't really count.
So with that being said, I probably have to default to Scotty McMullen, the GUNSLINGER. Sure we had an amazing QB in Krenzel but there was always that tinge of feeling that maybe McMuffs could come in and give us that deep ball threat

But really, I love Kenny Guiton.

Ron Maciejowski - '68, '69, & '70. Ron backed up Rex Kern.
I like Kenny G as well...his Christmas album gets heavy rotation around my house during the holidays !
Scott McMullen

Never threw a pass as a Buckeye yet got an invite to an NFL camp while helping a team evaluate Jeff Graham as a potential draft pick.

@ Devin - Scotty McMullen is a dbag that trolls for co-eds at Brews in Granville.
I'm going to have to stick with Troy Smith 2004. Zwick go the job and blew it like Ernie calling Ms Vaughn, then in came Troy and helped lead us to victory.

Joe Germaine / Stanley Jackson.
haha, @gobucks713. i was going to say the exact opposite. Zwick was my favorite backup because it allowed troy smith to show his stuff
Justin Zwick did have one of the all time great crack back blocks against Oklahoma State.
I always liked Scotty Mac.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Joe Germaine, who backed up Stanley Jackson.
@ TENN but which is which??

GoBucks713 - Exactly, that's why I named both. Technically Jackson was the starter and Germaine backed up Jackson. But when Germaine played, Jackson was his "back-up".
anyone remember bob hoying's brother tom? not sure he was ever above 3rd string as a QB before he switched to TE. i remember him getting in at least one game at qb and the crowd going nuts

Todd Boeckman. Remember the TD pass to Pryor?
