WSJ Article: A Vote For Ohio State?

I think it is. I think this article (and thanks again, BUCKEYEVET, for posting!) does more than suggest Ohio State could be worthy of the 2012 AP National Championship Trophy.

What do you guys think?

I think we would need to dominate for the rest of the way through our schedule. Nothing less than 20+ margins in all home games, 10+ in Wisky, and then put a big thumping on Michigan. If all of these things come to fruition, we will definitely be in the talk, and a snub might even go a long way to motivate these guys for next year. The problem is how weak the BIG is overall. That will be a major weakness factor in determining this team's real power, and with no bowl at the end of the season to show out in a cross conference match up, we will need all the help we can get.

Because of the B1G's perceived weakness this year, even running the table is probably not enough for us to be voted #1 at the end of the year.  I think this is true even if we are the only unbeaten team in the nation at the end, and no matter what our margins of victory are.  (Hope I'm wrong, though.)

Now THAT would be fun. Would love to stick a thumb in the NCAA & BCS's collective eyes. I think the biggest reason it would be unlikely is the fact that all the SEC contenders would probably have to have 2 losses for the bias to be overcome. With the B1G being down, I'd see a 1 loss SEC team being placed higher than us, IMO. Good follow-up post, Hoody!

  1. We'd have to be the only undefeated team at the end of the season.
  2. We'd have to score mad style points.
  3. The SEC may have to get upended in the BCS NC game.  They may vote a 1-loss SEC national champion over OSU, especially if it's Alabama.

It would be cool, but I'm not getting my hopes too high.

You know what?  If these guys put up 63 a game the rest of the year, they have a case.  If Bama goes undefeated though, especially with an SEC title win over a team like Florida or South Carolina, they are more deserving.  Ohio State realy needs to dominate and they need other teams to lose games.

If anyone else goes undefeated we have no shot.

If UF or any other SEC loses a game but still wins the NC, we have no shot.

At this poing it is crazy talk to think we have a shot.  There is a difference between having a shot and being possible.

PSU fans think that they are elite after winning 4 in a row over mediocre teams.

They can think that. That PSU team is VERY slow on offense. McGloin is the same guy we've seen for three years and their linebackers are not particularly quick in their lateral movement. OSU is going to cut them to creepy, defiant ribbons.

I just hope Franco Harris is there to watch it.

4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
