If Ohio State came out on saturday wearing pro combat uniforms against Illinois? I was thinking about it and claims have been it will be against a rival (Illibuck trophy). This would allow The Game to stay traditional. Very unlikely to happen, but I thought I would see how people felt about it against a team like Illinois.

If it were up to me they would do this. Normal uni's for Illinois. Pro Combats or whatever for @ Wisky (just to rub it in their faces) and finally our traditional bad ass Scarlett and Gray with those buckeye leafed kick ass looking helmets to pound scum into the ground in. amen.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
I hope they do this, but I'd also be surprised if they did. I don't see them being worn for any game other than Michigan unfortunately.

They've worn the Nike unis twice in the last 4 years vs. Mich.
If I had a say in it (which I don't obviously haha) I'd prefer they kept alternate uniforms for the occasional away game. To me OSU's away uni's are a bit boring; whereas the scarlet home jersey's just pop with the gray pants. It'd be cool + add some extra energy to our big road games to have the occasional unique road look ala the Nike Pro Combats from 2009:
I like the throwbacks they have worn against tsun. I'm sure Coach Hayes smiles everytime they come out of the tunnel.
I wouldn't want to see them all the time but I do like the different uni's used against tsun

That being said, it is veteran's day coming up the Monday after the bye week. However, OSU Basketball is participating in the Carrier Classic, so the camo shirt that popped up in the other thread is probably for that.

If that's the case, I have a few ideas for some potential Walk On's that we may need to get a better look at their skills, before 2013.

be nice to see the black helmets with red block O. or diamond plated helmets...recruits love seeing the new unis! might be a good idea to go with them for the michigan game, Im sure Michigan will try to wear something rediculous from Adidas...there "procombat" wanna be unis are pathetic...

Has a recruit ever picked a school based on the alternate unis they where one time a year? I just have never bought into the idea that the pro combats are a recruiting tool.
The first year I hated the pro combats, the 2nd year I was neutral, last year I loved them, and this year I'm interested to see what they come out with. I don't, however, understand what difference it makes if they wear them against Michigan or if they wear them against Indiana. If it's for eyeballs seeing them on TV you would think they'd pick a primetime tilt every time. I don't know the numbers but I imagine a primtime game against Nebraska has a higher rating number than a noon game against Michigan. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but seems like a Primetime game would draw more national viewers.
to answer your question...No i guess a recruit has never based their decision on uniforms, or Oregon would get every recruit...talking to players in the past and hearing first hand, they enjoy seeing/wearing the alt. unis...and the difference between indiana and michigan is the number of recruits that will be present, and exposure on national tv...never hurts to show some flash and change the norm. Although i agree i like the unis they have now and love tradition for The Game... Guess we have to think like the 16,17 year olds who like the flash and change. But I'll admit at 30 im anxious to see what nike comes out with as well.

They'll do it on a larger scale game where more people will see them. The country doesn't care (ESPN / SEC Country) much about OSU for the most part and I'm sure NIKE would prefer them to be worn when a lot more of the country actually is watching because it is OSU vs. Michigan.

I would love to see a "throw-back" to the 2002 uniform just to perserve the helmets. Nothing is more beautiful than the Ohio State helmet covered in Buckeye leaves stickers. I never liked the Pro-Combat uniforms from the past 3 years but can accept them when they're not used for M*ch*g*n.
Let's also not fool ourselves... Pro-Combat is done for money.
As TFOX27 pointed out, recruits dig the pro combats. Save 'em for the scUM game which most recruits will attend.
