This has got to be one of the better pieces I have ever read on ESPN. It makes complete sense to me.

Send the Buckeyes to the conference championship game and then send whomever you want to the Rose Bowl. If the B1G wants to make a splash with it's conference championship then that is exactly what they should do if we go undefeated.
You beat me to it. Just posted the same link. Sorry for the duplicate! Great minds...
It'd going to look bad for the conference if we have a 6-6 Indiana team in the Conf Championship game. Wisconsin plays us, along with Indiana and Penn State (all 3 they could lose) prob wont. But if tOSU and Penn State beat them, they should not be in the conf championship game. I say let the Buckeyes in, and the winner of the Legends division goes to the Rose Bowl.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
Very interesting.....
-The Aristocrats!
No way the Big Ten sends OSU to the Title game. Just can't see them doing it.
Would LOVE to see it tho... :-/
* EDIT: Also... read it closely... it's PURELY hypothetical. No way this ever happens.
As awesome as this would be, I dont see Delany allowing the conference to directly ignore a punishment from the NCAA.
“There are some people addicted to alcohol, some people are addicted to gambling,” Luginbill said. “Urban Meyer is addicted to football, and he’s addicted to winning.”
Agreed. I'd love to see something like this but no way Delany ok's it.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
Any chance the NCAA pulls the once in lifetime opportunity thing like they did when they didnt suspend the tat-5 from the sugar bowl and let us play for the national championship this year? (not actually being serious)
Why doesn't Urban just pile the team up onto a bus, show up at Lucas Oil, and let the awkwardness do all the talking?
im with bucksfan
This^^
I love the thought of just showing up with the team in tow ready to go, but let's win out first. I can see Wisky fans spouting off if they beat us in Madison about how they think they deserve to be in the B1G Championship Game over us.
Delany does care about money though. Nebraska vs Ohio State makes more than Nebraska vs Indiana
+1 bucksfan.
Sending weak teams to the championship perpetuates the "weak Big Ten" view from the rest of the country. Though it might be true, especially this year, sending the Buckeyes would help to build a stronger conference for the years to come. Sending Indiana or a third place Wisconsin team is bad for the conference, which is bad for the Buckeyes.
I agree with others, Delaney would never allow it. That's unfortunate because it makes the conference look bad. The championship game will have VERY low ratings and I doubt it will sell out.
Put the Buckeyes in and that place will be jammed!
Great idea and good article but alas, will never happen. The decision to let something like this happen would've had to be made before the season started. As happy as it would make Bucksfans, the outrage from other fanbases would be too much for Delany and the powers that be. Here's to hoping but I'm a realist at the same time. Next year boys...
Let's get a petition going!
Yeah, a 1/2 full Lucas Oil Stadium watching Nebraska and IU play will be pretty humbling to Delaney. Although Husker fans really travel so maybe they'll eat up all the tickets IU's faithful fail to purchase. It won't happen though, and as I've said in other posts, I kind of like that The Game is how this team will end its season.
I am not in favor of this, as much as I would love to see it. I don't like the idea of changing the rules in the middle of the season, even if it does benefit my team. I mean . . . . we can't make it THAT obvious that we completely run the Big Ten.

THE Ohio State University
It would be fantastic, but it can't happen. The script is already written on this year as far as sanctions. 12-0 is the only reward for players, coaches, and fans. Aannndddd I still hate ESPN.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
I would say this probably has about a 1% chance of atcually happening, if that.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
BT, I don't know who down-voted you, because you're absolutely right. Hell, even the Wisconsin-MSU game wasn't a sell-out last year, and those are supposed to be two fairly large and energetic fanbases. I was disappointed and pretty shocked, actually (and a little pissed, too). The $14 stubhub price was a punchline on Gameday if I remember correctly. Unless that game has Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State or Ped State you can forget about it being a sellout at this point.
Hopefully the pedobears don't come within a mile of contention next year.
I hate ESECPN, but this is just what the rest of B!G deserves.I hate the idea of a B1G championship game even more than I hate ND.GO BUCKS!
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.
It makes sense to me but I dont think the B1G will see it that way
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Nice job, Adam Rittenberg! Fun read.
Real fans stay for Carmen.
Good article. If only it could happen...
+1 for Bucksfan. That would be amazeballs if Urban and them team just showed up and were ready to go. Or even if they got a bunch of tickets (that nobody will want anyway) down by the field. What would be the over/under on the number of times the TV broadcast would show them?
Class of 2010.
It's not against the rules if the Buckeyes appear in the B1G title game. A postseason ban means that the team is banned from going to a BOWL game and the CCG rule is set by the conferences. If they're going to give us the Leaders' division trophy, then they should let us play in the damn game.
/Duff'd It
Agree Nova. Wish we could still play in the CCG to compete for our conference championship and then just send the Big Ten team with the best record to the Rose Bowl besides us and PSU.
We're hated by our own conference, why do you think Tress never won coach of the year. This is a conference that rewards mediocrity by giving Ferentz coach of the year multiple times.
If they changed the rules now and let Ohio State play in Indy there would be rioting in the streets at Wisconsin and Penn St.
I say pick the best two best eligble teams from the conference (regardless of division) and let them play for the right to go to The Rose Bowl, just seems to make the most sense to me.
