will Miller be invited to Heisman presentation?

they usually invite 4.

Klien, ND LB Teo, Miller and Bama QB McCarron.

Anyone see the possibility that Miller doesn't get asked to the ceremony?

He is only invited if OSU finishes undefeated

What about WVU Geno Smith?

He should be. He's definitely top 5.

They sent 5 last year.  Luck, RGIII, Mathieu, Trent, Ball

He will be sent if OSU remains undefeated.  I really hope he is invited, because then recruits will still be thinking of tOSU close to Bowl Season.  We need all the extra talk we can get.  If he goes, all of his highlights will be shown to every recruit watching.  Sounds like a great thing to me

Geno Smith is probably toast, 2 huge blowout losses will do that. I can absolutely see a scenerio where Braxton doesn't get invited.....isn't it televised on ESPiN?

^^^^ my thoughts as well, I've seen multiple ESPN Heisman trackers in the past few weeks, where Miller isn't even mentioned, even though he has been "polled" in the top 3 for the better part of the past 6 weeks.

edit*- as far as Geno Smith goes, a canidate shouldn't allow his team to have a 2 game losing streak, as well as let his offense get out scored 28-104 in those 2 losses.

John Blair, good point about Geno.

Braxton needs to play his ass off, win out, and he has a good chance of being top 2 at end of season. As long as OSU is at least undefeated...I think he goes to NY just for that.

I think if he keeps up his current pace, even if we drop a game, he gets to NYC but doesn't win.  I think if he keeps pace (which is a damn good pace I admit) and has an awesome scUM game and we go undefeated, he could have a chance at the trophy.  Sort of depends what KSU QB does.  I don't see the ND LB having a legit shot ... just the way the voters do it.

ESPN has nothing to do with who is invited. It is done by voting results.

I don't know that we necessarily have to go undefeated.  Baylor wasn't last year.  I would say it would largely depend on how well he did in a loss.  If we went 11-1, in an offense (that he creates 70% of) that has looked much better than last year's...think of the "turnaround" factor.  It may be a long shot to win it, but if he continues like he has, I think he'll be invited - even with a loss.  Just MHO.

I don't want him there uless he has a legitimate shot of winning. The problem with that is most voters among the media mention Braxton only as an afterthought. The moment Geno lost to Texas Tech, they had already begun to push Klein to the front of the line despite Braxton playing better. Add to the fact that every other word out of ESPiN is something bashing "The Big Ten", and it's almost impossible for him to win.

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

I think it all hinges on Wisconsin and Michigan -- although Illinois could be a game where he could pad his passing numbers, because they aren't exactly where they need to be for him to be Heisman level.  That being said, his highlight reel running ability easily overshadows his deficiencies and ESPN would probably have an easy time putting some decent tape together on what he has done this season.  If he plays well against Wisconsin and Michigan, even if we lose, he gets an invitation.  He will not win, but it sets him up well for next year and the year after.  And like somebody else said, it's good for recruiting to have him there.

He most certainly should be invited to New York barring a huge injury or a late season collapse of our team a la WVU. He is easily a top 5 talent in the country and his stats and hightlights speak to that.

He was left off of Nissan's list of about 12 possibilities shown on College Football Countdown on Saturday.  It was a poll where they were asking who should receive the award this year.

After searching for said poll however, I found that he was a choice here, so I don't know why he wasn't on the list shown on TV (I scanned it two or three times, maybe I just missed it).  In either case, everyone go vote!

You can vote once per day (per device?), so make sure you do!

Edit: you have to log in to vote, bleargh.  Looks like ND fans are hitting it hard - Manti Te'o has a sizeable lead.

The Heisman in the last deacede has typically went to the best player on the best team. Not always but typically. As long as the B1G is viewed as a second rated league behind the othe AQ teams any B1G athlete will have a tough time bringing home the trophy. Sure they will get invited as an honor but actually bringing home the trophy will be really tough because the whole award is based upon preception.

The Purdue game hurt him.  He was top 2 on most people's ballots before that.  Klein absolutely deserves to be number 1, the guy is a beast and his team is damn good.  Honestly, I think they could give Bama a game.  If Braxton keeps putting up 100 yard games and 3+ TDs total he's going to NY.  Klein and Teo belong there.  I'm not sure McCaron does, but he is playing well and his team is number 1.  Geno probably won't go now.  It's not that WVU lost 2 games, it's that he was basically useless in their 2 losses.

Braxton will get his name right back in the mix this weekend against Illinois though.  He could put up 400+ yards of total offense and 5 total TD's.  A game like that puts him right back in the mix.

I don't think Braxton to New York is vital for recruiting really, the recruits are going to hear plenty about Ohio State during bowl season when Urban doesn't have a game to prep for and is in their ears for a month while other teams are more focused on their Outback Bowl game.
