According to reports there he's not risking hurting it further and should be good to go...sounds like he could have played the rest of the Nebraska game. The way he was laughing on the sidelines with players and coaches would've pissed me off, if (god forbid) he was a Buckeye. I really see our team taking on Urban's personality and attitude. Denard could use a little of that...he seems to be all that Urban didn't like about Kenny Guiton last year? Maybe just a little to smiley and playful at the wrong time.
Wow, I watched that same telecast, and I didn't get anything like this impression. I've rarely seen Denard so grim-looking.
Anyway, this is an injury that bounced him out of our game versus Illinois (scary, for a couple of series) but he came back later in the same game and threw some really good touch passes. In Michigan Stadium, I sit in a place where I can see our bench really well, and I know that this is a thing that leaves his right hand non-functional for however long it lasts.
Since you brought Kenny Guiton into it; you guys can count your blessings to have a backup that can steer your offense to a victory if needed. "QB II" is a gaping hole on Michigan's roster right now.
@d.anthony - coach hoke takes on a different mindset when it comes to his players. he sees them as kids, which they are...17-20 year old kids basically. this article from grantland is an interview with hoke that will give you a better perspective on the guy and maybe help you understand why his players are light hearted.

M Man... It was right after they showed Denard standing next to an assistant coach and he wasn't just smiling he was laughing (maybe the coach said something to raise his spirits but it didn't look good). I didn't see most of the game so I'm sure what your saying about him looking down was captured too. If you taped it, watch the replay.
D. Anthony
Thread title made me laugh. Good one.
HCAZUALCC...he might promote the atomosphere, but that's just Denard. He always tries to be positive and smiling. @Danthony, if you want to be critical about his smiling, focus on the ND game. It's frustrating seeing a guy grinning after 5 turnovers.
Like MMan said, I didn't see him acting that way much at all on the sidelines against Nebraska. I'm sure he would've gone back in if he could've. In the pressers Hoke said they tested out Denard's grip mulitiple times and the trainer continued to report back to him on the [lack of] progress.
Mman, I have to think Gardner will be ready to go if this resurfaces. He said the reason why Devin wasn't considered Saturday was because he hadn't taken enough reps at QB in practice. It has been reported that Devin will get those reps going forward, and I feel confident that Devin could keep us in any game, whereas Bellomy just doesn't have it yet.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

I didn't see him goofing. If anything, Denard strikes me as a hell of a competitor who would have done anything to get back in the game if he could.
The problem is they need Gardner to catch those arm punts from Denard. This is why I thank the football gods we have Guiton.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
I'm not trying to say this in an argumentive fashion, but how do the Darth Vadar fans (I'm looking at you Mman and Hail jk) really feel about Denard leaving. I know he is a great athlete and person, but he hasn't seemed to have progressed since his sophmore year like you would've thought he would. Is it coaching, him being cast in the wrong role, or am I wrong on this subject. I don't follow him every game, but personally, I don't think I will be too happy is I don't see Braxton take a huge leap between his sophmore and junior year.
I doubt he was laughing on the sidelines, he only does that after he tosses an INT!
BAZINGA!
lol punting arm
O H I O is the Buckeye State
the way Troy Smith was laughing on the sideline in the 4th quarter of the Florida beatdown?
Troy wasnt "injured"...he was just fat/flat from all the burgers and played terrible....but no excuse if he was in fact laughing... doubt any players would be acting that way under Urban Meyer. I saw the same thing on tv...Denard inspite of losing and being injured was laughing and having a good time losing...guess im happy if he is...
and if you want to bring up past games...Beanie Wells was injured against LSU I believe...didnt see him acting that way. As i remember it he seemed pretty pissed off...
Damn it feels good to be a Buckeye....
Oh I can tell you; we are placing inordinate, unreasonable, logic-defying, unwarranted hope and high expectations on '13 freshman Shane Morris -- a true Hoke/Borges prototype quarterback specimen. Onward and upward. We will only remember the good with Denard. Two wins over OSU would be really, really good.
By the way, I hate to tell you, Young Skywalker, but I am your father.
MMan, please help me out here but after a few cursory readings of MGO (ya, I see the site from time to time, Sun Tzu and all) aren't we the ones viewed as the Empire in this relationship?
Grant it we all know how it ends for them in the movies but OSU always had the whole "Evil Empire" thing down pretty cold if you ask me.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Detard looked in pain everytime I saw him saturday. Granted I wasn't watching intently, but he looked glum. Unlike the ND fiasco with him laughing and smiling coming off the field after each INT/Fumble. I would have been pissed if I was an AACC fan. Thank God I'm not!
MMan/Hail. I have a question for ya. Why is Denard still doing that eating gesture after his touchdowns. I understood it last year in the OSU game, but to continue it this year is childish at best. Also, tell the equipment manager to get him a helmet that fits.
I agree on the helmet Doc. I saw a post a while back that said he reminded the poster of Rick Moranis (sp?) in Spaceballs and now I laugh everytime I see him. It was even funnier Sat when he had his 'cape' on the 2nd half.
You have much better t-shirts -- IMHO -- and the Imperial Buckeye is one of the best.
But... then you all just work for Lord Vader, right?
He must have thrown his elbow out making that idiotic "eating it up" motion
Thanks Oyster now I'll have that image in my mind everytime I see DR. True as hell!
I hate it. I hated it the first time Denard did it. A lot of M men agree that Bo Schembechler would kick Denard's ass if he saw him do it. It is really time to cut it out, when Will Gholston starts doing it. Or when you start to see guys from Illinois or wherever do it. Illinois?
Denard hates that helmet. They forced him into it. I hope that story comes out someday. It is absolutely a Michigan staff/equipment managerial decision. I don't know the science behind that newer Schutt model that they are making him wear. It does make him look like Rick Moranis in Spaceballs.
Well M Man, perhaps he could cut his hair? That would reduce the size of the helmet by 3 or 4 sizes, easily.
In all seriousness, he will cut the hair the first time somebody takles him by it. And it will happen if he gets to the NFL, you can take that one to the bank.
Do any "OSU" fans feel there will be any eating references by Braxton after scoring his third or fourth TD? I'd say no, because OSU players stay classy...but I could be wrong (ie...Reynolds choking Sorgi a few years back). I know the players were pissed about that reference last year in a weak ass 6 point win (as were fans...because we know what eating actually is...can you say 2005-2010...that's eating if you ask me). I could see them doing something...but not the eating reference. I could see the airplane flying a lot in 25 days...that's probably about it though...either way...we're winning and I can't wait to see less of the maze and blue fans here. It will be just like the last 10 years or so...when they were REAL quiet and definitely not on 11W;-) Go BUCKS!

@768 i think Urban might let them off the leash a little bit to do some crazy stuff. If I remember right, the Florida-Georgia game a couple years back got pretty chippy and unsportsmanlike and the Gators seemed to get really fired up by it.
@Hail2victors9: "if you want to be critical about his smiling, focus on the ND game. It's frustrating seeing a guy grinning after 5 turnovers."
I watched the ND post-game interview w/Coach Hoke and they asked him what he said to DRob at half-time about the turnovers, and iirc Coach Hoke said "I didn't say anything to him, it was in the past." Not trying to judge someone on a single line, but if I was a Michigan fan that would have pissed me off a little. Isn't the point of being a coach learning from our mistakes, and even making mid-game adjustments? It reminded me of things I've heard from some of our previous coaches (and coaches elsewhere) when we had failures on their side of the ball haha. Just keep running into a brick wall and hope that eventually the wall will move.
