Even though he had some idiotic things that have flown out of his mouth over the last few years, he's still funny at times and will be missed by some who follow the show.  However, I feel twitter has become a platform for ppl to make stupid comments without repercussions (at least that's what they think until they press send and then their company or organization fires them).

Pumping gas at Citgo for the Torg...you can take that to the bank!

Personally I couldn't stand him on the radio.  Same thing over and over and over.  Torg starts talking, turn down your volume to 0 for 20 seconds turn back up and cue yelling at the top of his lungs.  I don't understand how OSU fans can blame Kirk.  Torg should know better, joke or not (which I believe it was) you can't say something like that in his position.  Torg has thrown Herbstreit under the bus plenty of times of not being a true buckeye.  Now you're mad that Kirk sticks up for a friend to a guy he already doesn't like?  Makes sense, only Torg can bash someone on the radio and wish for someone to get fired or die.

Compared to a lot of things shock jocks have said over the years without any repercussion, this seems like sort of small potatoes. Makes me think The Fan didn't see any downside to getting rid of him.

I hope the door hit him on the way out.  Hard.

They should bring back Bruce Hooley and put him and Common Man together. They hate each other so the show would be fun to listen too.

Had someone at a M*chigan station said the same thing about, say, Archie or Eddie, we'd all be pissed off, too. What he said clearly crossed the line.

Not going to lie, I support anyone who takes a stand against what they deem a "unacceptable" act (at least in their eyes) SO GO COMMON MAN!

Can we stop blaming Herbstreit for this? He didn't put a gun to Torg's head and make him send that tweet. Sure Herbstreit responded to it, but I bet a lot of people would have done the same thing had a friend/co-worker been in the same position (joke or not and Michigan fan or not). Bottom line is that Torg got Torg fired. In his position he should have known better than to tweet something like that (especially when you work for a ESPN radio station). To me it just reflects poorly on our fanbase (ironic because Torg always harped about the crazies)

The "hope he dies" comment is not politically correct or right in any way although I can't say how many times I have heard people use that phrase without actually meaning for it to happen. Yes it was a public forum and uncalled for there. He screwed up. I have screwed up more than I hope to recall in my life as every person on the planet has. Minus those atop the soap boxes of course. I am just thankful people looked past my transgressions enough to let me continue to live my life. Just get tired of the holier than thou stuff.

now Desmond and his wife and child can sleep at night without a gun under the pillow.  I'm glad Herbie's friend's life is now safe again.

I'll miss him on the show as I thought he and Mike had a good report with each other. That being said I still listen to the show with Krenzel. Anyone think T-Bone might get moved up to work that show with Common man? The show would still be CM&T then!

Alhan, seems like T-Bone would be a logical choice, but we'll see.

Nothing worthwhile. Common Man took 5 minutes to say Torg is gone, I'm not going anywhere, I believe in this station... blah, blah, blah.

@BuckeyeW, Nothing too exciting... Common Man confirmed Torg will not be coming back, but assured everyone that he (Common Man) isn't going anywhere. Said it sucks and he will miss working with Torg but they will continue their friendship off the air. Doesn't know anything about a potential replacement for Torg (if there will be one, he mentioned the possibility of him doing the show by himself)

I hate for anyone to lose their job.  Radio guys say stupid stuff all the time.  DH should relize if you are on TV someone will say something about you.  Get thicker skin!  KH should have plenty experience with that.  fwiw I was never a big Torg fan but again I hate for people to lose their job.  He has a kid...

Hope he gets a manager's position at the Citgo.

Look, Torg said something stupid.  He shouldn't have said it.  Does it mean he should've been fired?  I don't think so.  We are becoming way too sensitive as a society, and it's driving me nuts.  The guy was joking.  That doesn't mean that you get a free pass to say any dumb thing you want as long as you're joking, but considering that this is the first time that I'm aware of that he has said something to get himself in trouble, he should've served a suspension, and right at the start of the first show that he's back on, deliver a nice, sincere apology.  Then, it's settled, and we all move on.  If he has been in trouble like this before, then my point is moo moot.

He had issues with Blue Jackets management with his various honest "bashings" of their decisions.  Kind of a conflict with him hosting various CBJ coaches' shows over the years.

My guess with D. Stanley is that since he is a former Buckeye they keep him around. 

I get the feeling that ESPN mother ship had some influence on the decision to let him go. They had been critical of ESPN and ESPN personalities, but I'm not sure that would be on the ESPN radar.

I hate to think ESPN has any significant input on our local programming.
