As most of you have been, I've been perplexed at the recent renewal "interest" in Robert Foster. I've come to this conclusion, there aren't any "locks" for the WRs in 13. Sure, we shot up on Corn Elder's board but I'm not sure he would be a WR, possibly slot or RB. With LaRue, North, or Timmons it feels like a long shot to me and Quick has favored Louisville throughout his recruitment, although that could change if Charlie Strong bolts for SEC country. Finally, Shelton Gibson doesn't seem like he is getting his academics in order, or one would think that with his high interest in the bucks and roster spots filling up, he would have pulled the trigger by now. Which brings me to my conclusion, with the depth dilemma at WR and possible questions on the commitment of current targets, perhaps the bucks feel they need to get back in the mix with Foster. He is truly a great talent and IMO is better than any of the current targets we have. On the other hand, maybe he has turned the page in his off-field issues and the staff is willing to take a shot on him. Of course, until he visits, there won't be anything to think about here anyways. Hope he has changed his attitude because he is an immediate contributor IMO. Thoughts dubsters?

Am I the only one that thinks we land Corey Smith?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
I really love your name/handle. Well done.
As for recruiting, I feel we are in dire need of LBs. I am way more interested in Mike Mitchell, for example. I know we may have a bit of a depth problem at WR, but we do have some fast boys coming in 2013, all of which could create offense. That said, I would love a Foster or Quick, but I am just currently more tuned into defensive prospects right now. Our offense is eons better than last year, and will only get better with time and experience. But our D needs coaching, experience, and players.
He's a good player, but if attitude is poor it doesn't matter how good he might be. Jamaal Berry is a name that I always think of. Amazing player, bad attitude and see where that got him.
As for the receivers that you think we should get:
Larue: I see him staying committed to USC
Gibson: Give him time to get his grades up, its not even the end of the first quarter yet. I'd say by December when semester grades come out, he will be allowed to commit.
Quick: I see him committing to UoL unless Strong leaves right after the season ends. If he waits until after Jan 5 (Quicks commit date) he's staying home
North: I don't see him in this class
Stevens: Small chance. But I don't see it
Timmons: If we have room, he's in
Smith: I actually think that the Buckeyes have a good shot with reeling him in
Elder: I also think that Elder has a very good chance to be in this class when its all said and done
Max Power... The only name Homer Simpson could spell properly when legally changing his name. lol
I think we finish the WR class with Foster, Gibson and Quick. Strong is as good as gone at UL and sources have said multiple times that Strong at UL means Quick is at UL, if Strong is not at UL Quick is at OSU. Gibson will be a Buckeye. Word was his grades have improved and once the final grades come out later in the year he will be allowed to commit. Finally I think Foster does everything Urban wants him to. I honestly don't think hes a bad kid (like into drugs, or pay-for-play, ect) just a high school kid who's a bit immature.
I don't care who we get as long as we get speed...
"American is all about speed. Hot, nasty, badass speed!"
@Hayze That would be an amazing haul!
The thing I don't hear a lot of people mention regarding Quick is that from what I've heard (don't know if it's true), wasn't his dad a Louisville alum? And aren't a few of his friends already at Louisville? Not that either is the end-all be-all, but I'd think that means there's a lot more drawing Quick to Louisville than just Strong--though that's a perk for sure.
I think just the very fact that there are so many WR/slot guys that are potentially future Buckeyes shows the uncertainty of which ones will actually end up Buckeyes. If they both want to come here it'll be Quick and Gibson for sure. If they don't who knows. Foster may be one of those guys who is so good you have to keep your finger on the pulse of his situation, but I'd be pretty surprised if he ends up here. He'll need to really show a lot. Urban is going to be pretty cautious with guys like him. The program can't afford someone who is going to act up at all. He has to prove he's not going to be a fool once he gets on campus.
With all those names out there still, it makes you wonder who does have a great WR class? Says all you need to know about receivers and how they handle their business; they're in demand and they know it.
I think we'll be fine, but it's not going to happen until late November after The Game, or even later. With Gibson, it's either us or a JUCO and we'll know in early December, and I think we'll end up with another one of the rest, which will make for a strong pull. If it's Foster or Quick, then it's a serious haul. If there's one more in the mix (Timmons, Stevens, Elder, or Larue), Christmas comes early.
Yeah, really when Timmons is like the number 5 or 6 guy on the list you know the haul is going to be pretty good.
The one thing that makes me feel good is that we already got the WR I want--Jalin Marshall. He may be listed as a QB/ATH now, but I don't doubt he'll be absolutely electric at wideout. I also like the way Devin Smith seems to improving each week as only a Sophmore. We have a great chance at imo the best WR in next year's class (Marshon Lattimore). Any of these additional guys we can get is just a bonus to me. Foster is the most exciting (on-field) for me though, so I hope everything checks out and we end up getting him.
The only concern with Marshall is the learning curve of moving to WR. Would be nice to grab some speedy slot-type guys who will be ready to step in immediately. Foster is a beast on the field, Quick is ready, LaRue is ready, and I think Elder would make an immediate impact. I hope to get at least one of them
With all of the interest we are receiving from other WR's in the 2013 class, I'm not sure if we will see Timmons or Elder in this class.
@DMCDOUGAL24... You stated that the transition from QB to WR would be difficult for Marshall, but you think Elder could me an immediate impact... Elder would probably be playing slot for OSU. He isn't going to play at RB over Elliott, Hall, Dunn, Hyde, or Smith. The transition from RB to WR would be the same learning curve for Elder as QB to WR would be for Marshall. Physically Marshall is the only one ready to play. Jacobs and Elder are both under 180. Marshall is over 200.
I also don't like the idea of Elder playing 2 sports... Playing basketball is probably one of the reasons he can't maintain any weight. Plus, he would be missing a lot of film time and study time to learn the playbook.
I'd rather have Gibson, Quick, Stevens, North, LaRue, or Foster. I like Jacobs and Marshall as our slot, speed guys now.
I believe we get Gibson, Smith & 1 of Timmons/Elder
#Buckeyes
I think Elder playing basketball is about the same as Marshall getting a shot at QB. The staff says oh sure we'll let you give it a shot, then the kid will get here, realize how hard playing one college sport is and for get all about this basketball nonsense.
Too bad NSD isn't in January. Having it then would ease the pain of missing the bucks play after the first of the year. Can't wait to see who ends up signing with tOSU. Always like Christmas day for me. Keep em coming Urb! Just please land Mike Mitchell and get us a stud WR!
^^Also, no way Elder plays BBall. Don't think that's happened again since Rickey Dudley. There was talk of Pryor being on the hardwood but that never happened. Nice recruiting pitch, but if a guy is going to be great, there's no room for another sport IMO. Focus on one (which is a year round gig) and be at your best
