The most embarrassing win you've ever seen?

For me it was last night against Indiana. The amount of disappointment, embarrassment, and rage I felt during that game was unreal. I'm not going to get into the whole "fire fickell" debate, but this defense is just awful. Just curious to see what you guys think.

I agree it was an awful game, but we scored at almost at will.  And more importantly it still counts as a W.  The most embarassing game I've seen would have to be the national championship game against Florida.

This was embarrassing, but not even in the same ballpark as the 2006 NCG. That was a historical shaming.

^ Dead on.  Last night was disappointing, especially since the game was in hand and the points/yards being racked up where garbage, but I wouldn't say it was embarrassing so much as unfortunate.

Yeah don't get me wrong, being 7-0 with a chance to go 8-0 is nice, but I don't think I've ever felt that way about a W before. Maybe I was expecting too much from them or thought too little of Indiana, but man that game left an awful taste in my mouth.

I vote for Texas getting beat down by the Okies.  Now that was embarrassing. The Buckeyes were uncomfortable to watch at times, but I'm still wearing a tOSU shirt to the grocery.

2006 NC was the worst day to be Buckeye fan in my lifetime. Yesterday was an ugly day, but we got a W. I can't believe this is even debatable.

When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."

For me its has to be. Florida was a great team. Indiana is a perpetual B1G doormat. There's a difference. It is absolutley NEVER acceptable to give up 49 pts to Indiana.....ever.

We have more talent at every single position compared to IU, so giving up 49 is nothing more than a piss poor effort on defense and lack of execution/heart/coaching.

Florida had as much talent if not more than us, and we lost our most dynamic playmaker on the first play of the game.

Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.

1) 41-14 vs UF

2) 35-3 vs USC

3-316) all the other losses in OSU history

And then somewhere after that I'd consider listing last night's win.  It was painful, it revealed profound problems with the D, but c'mon man, most embarrassing ever?

Most embarrassing games I can think of: all of losses in the early-mid 90's to SCUM, losing to Air Force in the Liberty Bowl, the first Outback Bowl loss to South Carolina (Coop's last stand).

Ohio State at USC and Ohio State at Miami were the most embarassing. I hated losing to Florida but the others mentioned were just as bad if not worse.

One thing to say to everyone who keeps bitching about this and that.... 7-0

63-14 loss at No. 1 ranked PSU in 1994.  Team bounced back after that disaster to win out in regular season.

Last night's game, while disappointing defensively, did not have the feel of a loss slowly creeping up on us. Watching and remembering about 35 years of Ohio St. football, you know that 'feeling' when it's just not going to be the team's day, and the game slowly slips away ala Michigan St. at home in '98. I think we'll play better defense at home; the road game at Wisconsin worries me the most.

You know we lost to Purdue and northwestern under tressel right?  Northwestern game in 2004 they out gained us 444 to 308.  Nw had a losing record at the time.

I have to agree with faux_maestro and others who mention all those beat downs when we were clearly a better them than scUM during that losing streak in the early- mid-90's...I would donate all my Buckeye clothes at the end of those years (right in the Goodwill bins in the Kroger parking lot) and get all new gear in hope of breaking the curse. A new coach ended up being the answer and I think a new coach for the D is what we need now.

@hoodywayes Yeah I should've made that the title from the start

Let's wipe the slate clean...remove all the helmet stickers from the D's helmets and tell them were starting from scratch, then give them double stickers from here out. Ok so maybe that would work better for little grade school kids, but that's what they've been playing like so maybe the effort would pick-up?

It is definitely embarrassing.  In a season where style points matter more than ever, since the only way we can stick it to the college football universe is to finish undefeated and convince the media that we're unbeatable, the Indiana game basically just took Ohio State out of the running for the AP #1.

You can't give up 49 points to Indiana and make the claim that your defense is better than Alabama's, LSU's, Florida's, South Carolina's, Notre Dame's...etc.  They needed to get better over the course of the season, and it looks more and more like they're getting worse.  Of course there are reasons for that, but it doesn't change the sad fact that they're not #1 calibur.

The only thing we can really be happy with is that we're still in the driver's seat for the Leaders Division championship trophy and the Heisman Trophy.

For embarrassing wins... I think it was in 2004 beating Marshall on like a 50 yard Mike Nugent field goal at the last second...

I think the question asked was "most embarrassing WIN?"  Yes, there have been many embarrassing losses.  I think the overall mood here is that those losses are far more embarrassing than any wins we have had.  Most likely the embarrassing wins do not live in memory like the losses.  You can look at this win as an embarrassment, but at the end of the season it will still be a W.  Heck, during our 2002 NC season there were quite a few wins that were frustrating, most notably eeking out a win against Cinn.   Yet, we all remember that season as one for the ages.

Probably the most embarrassing WIN in most people's minds is the most recent eek out against a team that should not have been in the game.  As a past coach, my most embarrassing wins have been when the officials obviously blew a call that went in our favor and caused us to win a game.  And, I am not talking about a controversial call that could have gone either way, but one where they were just flat out wrong.  Walking across the field and having to apologize for awful officiating is the worst feeling ever after a win.  I don't ever recall that happening with the Buckeyes, but I have seen it several times in the last couple years in other college football games.  I'm sure this is not embarrassing to most fans, but it is to me.

I just can't figure out how I feel about this team:  am I more excited about the offense rolling up almost 600 yards and scoring points at will or am I upset that the D is having issues?  I feel like we can score on anyone, but at the same time feel like anyone can score on us.  Completely opposite than what I am used to with teams in the recent past

This has been a very strange year so far...

Can't touch the tw NC games, mainly the Florida game. Not a good game, but it will die in obscurity while the Florida game will be talked about for decades.
